A guy named Rod Barnes (B+ overall rating) took over at San Francisco. I don't know which school he came from as I forgot to look during the coach carousel. Barnes' career record is 285-318 and his age is 53.
Barnes used to be the head coach at Ole Miss. I don't think he's still there though, so I'm not sure where he was in CH2k8.

Nice to see you at WVU, but for your sake I hope you do well lol.

Good to see 16-17 minutes is working out well for you.

Yeah, I'm surprised Kole AND Owen stayed another year. If I would have returned as head coach, we'd be in the hunt for a National Championship.

Ah, alright. Thanks for the information.

        vs.
Monmouth (2-1) vs. West Virginia (4-0)
        WVU Coliseum
        Morgantown, WV
        November 17th, 2019

The West Virginia Mountaineers (4-0) defeated the Monmouth Hawks (2-1) this Sunday afternoon 86-56, but it wasn't as easy as the score makes it seem. The Hawks played spectacularly in the first half and only trailed by one point at halftime.

Monmouth got off to a strong start early in the second half and took a five-point lead at the WVU Coliseum with the Mountaineer faithful getting nervous that an upset might be at hand. Fortunately, for the home crowd, the Mountaineers proceeded to go on a long run that resulted in the Mountaineers outscoring the Hawks 54-32 in the second half on their way to a seemingly-easy 30-point victory.

One reason for WVU's struggles was that center Marquel Proffitt was in severe foul trouble most of the game, which resulted in him playing only 10 minutes. He still totaled 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists in those 10 minutes, however. His frontcourt mates also topped scored in double-figures as Marqus Coulter tallied a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds while Allan Pena recorded 11 points and 3 rebounds. Raynardo Admundson also had a solid game at point guard as he scored a dozen points to go along with 6 assists.

The Mountaineers held tremendous advantages in rebounding and assists. WVU outrebounded a smaller Monmouth team 34-to-23 and out-assisted the Hawks 18-to-6. In addition, for the second straight game, the Mountaineers shot over 50% from the field as they shot 52% against the Monmouth defense. Monmouth also struggled at the free throw line, where they converted only 8 of their 18 free throw attempts. In comparison, the Mountaineers sank 12 of their 14 attempts from the charity stripe.

"We've been playing really well on the offensive side of the ball in our last two games," said Coach Frizzell. "We struggled a bit on offense in our first two games, but scoring over 80 points and making over half our shots is nothing to sneeze about. Our offensive rebounding also results in a lot of second-chance opportunities, which gives us a chance to score points even off of missed shots."

The Mountaineers next face 0-3 Fairfield at home on Tuesday before traveling to New York, NY to take on a very good Washington State team in the NIT Season Tip-Off Semifinals.

              November 19th, 2019

The West Virginia Mountaineers (5-0) played their final tune-up game before facing off against the Washington State Cougars in the semifinals of the NIT Season Tip-Off. The Mountaineers blew out the winless Fairfield Stags (0-4) 85-53.

The Stags were in the game some early on, but the Mountaineers opened up a 38-25 lead at halftime and from there on out the Mountaineers were in a full and total control as the game progressed into and old-fashioned rout.

The Mountaineers were led by hot shooting as they shot 59% from the floor and hit 11 of their 20 three-point attempts. Dinky Woods went 4-for-6 from downtown and scored a career-high 17 points while Justino Whitworth came off the bench to hit three threes on his way to scoring a career-high 15 points.

Marquel Proffitt tallied 12 points and 9 rebounds. Josh Bigby was the only other Mountaineer in double-figures as he added 12 points and 3 assists.

"We shot the ball well tonight and that won us the ball game," explained Coach Frizzell. "We also played solid defense. It's hard to lose when you put those two things together."

The Mountaineers next face off against Washington State. While the Cougars are not currently ranked in the top 25, they are 3-0 and are a very formidable opponent. This will be a good litmus test to see how good these Mountaineers really are after loading up on mostly cupcakes early in the schedule.

West Coast is representing in the Top-25.. 5 from the Pac-10, Gonzaga, USF and BYU.. Wow.

Looks like Dinky Woods has been your most conistant scorer so far and doesn't look like Pena really fits your style very well..

I would say good luck against WSU but then I would be lying.

Woods is a very good shooter, which basically means that he'll get plenty of shot attempts in the offense I run, which typically translates into a lot of points.

I'm starting to get Pena more involved, but he's not my prototypical small forward, of course. He is a great driver, though, and at 6'8", can post up smaller defenders, which I've had some success with. Also, he's improved his three-point shot to a 70 rating now, so he can knock down some threes and will only get better in that regard over the coming years, so he could still be good. He reminds me of the small forward I had over at San Francisco my first two years, Walter Proffitt. He even has the same shooting style.

Keep on wishing me bad luck because I think I'm undefeated when you do!

                      November 20th, 2019

The West Virginia Mountaineers (6-0) made a statement this evening as they pounded the Washington State Cougars (3-1) into submission 80-57. As has happened more often that not this season, the Mountaineers were dominant in the second half. WVU led 33-27 at halftime, but outscored the Cougars 47-30 in the second half on the way to a 23-point rout.

The Mountaineers shot 20-for-22 from the free throw line, which was key in the win, the only two misses coming from DeShaun Chatman, who went 5-for-7 from the line and scored 11 points.

Dinky Woods led the way with 15 points and 3 boards. Marqus Coulter tallied 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 rebounds while Raynardo Admundson paced the offense with 11 points, 5 assists, and 4 steals. Marquet Proffitt added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

Darron Bobik did everything he could to keep Washington State in the game and put on a one-man show as he was responsible for 42% of Washington State's field goal attempts. Unfortunately for him, he only shot 7-for-22 from the field, so despite his 24-point performance, he wasn't as efficient as a quick glance at the box score might have you believe.

Dartmouth surprisingly upset Illinois in the other semifinal, so Coach Frizzell will go up against one of his former Ivy League opponents in the NIT Season Tip-Off Championship Game. The Big Green are 3-3 this season with wins over Centenary, Central Florida, and Illinois and losses to Marist, Houston, and Georgia Southern.

Haven't lost at WVU yet, nice.

Good to see San Fransisco is still having success.

We'll lose before long, I think. Our schedule has been very favorable before long, but the gauntlet will be upon us quite soon.

The West Virginia Mountaineers (7-0) stayed undefeated tonight as they defeated the Dartmouth Big Green (3-4) to win the NIT Season Tip-Off Championship, but it wasn't as easy as expected. The Mountaineers were expected to roll over the Big Green easily and it looked to be heading that way shortly after halftime with WVU holding a 15-point lead. Then things went downhill.

Dartmouth made a long, sustained comeback throughout the second half as WVU simply could not put the ball into the basket for the majority of the second half. Suddenly, the game was tied at 59 apiece with under a minute remaining in the game after several key missed free throws by the Mountaineers who had been attempting to put the game away.

However, Allan Pena, who had been the star of the day, stepped up and drove the ball to the hole and was rewarded with a trip to the line. He hit both free throws. Dartmouth got the ball back and had a chance to win, but the Big Green's three-point attempt clanged off the left iron as the Mountaineers escaped with a win.

Allan Pena was the flavor of the day for the Mountaineers. The freshman forward had by far the best game of his career as he hit four three-pointers on his way to a career-high 21 points and 4 rebounds. Seven-foot center Marquet Proffitt was the only other WVU player to get into double-figures as he tallied 10 points, 9 rebounds, and 4 assists.

The Mountaineers were marred by terrible shooting, particularly in the second half. West Virginia shot 31% from the field and only 24% from long distance. Dinky Woods, who came into the game shooting over 50% from three-point range, shot a putrid 1-for-7 from beyond the arc.

"This is a game we'd like to forget as far as our offense goes," said Coach Frizzell. "On the other hand, our defense was pretty solid. This is the sixth time in our first seven games that we've held our opponent to under 60 points, which is pretty impressive.

"I have to commend this team for winning this NIT Season Tip-Off Title. We played well in this tournament and took home some hardware, which is always a great thing."

After a hectic first two-and-a-half weeks of the season, the Mountaineers now get a long break as they will not play another game until December 3rd when they host the Army Black Knights.
