Congrats on the 7 seed! At least you didn't get stuck with the dreaded #8/#9 seed. Good luck in the tourney.

Good luck against Creighton! And unless I'm mistaken, I think I only counted 1 SEC team (Tennessee)? Either way, that's a pathetic showing on our part.

              Oh, and YEAH Drexel.
Why is it that the Atlantic 10 always becomes a de facto power conference in everyone's legacy? They've been good for awhile in mine, but this year they were really good.

Meanwhile, the SEC only sent two teams dancing (though more did go to the NIT).

Yeah, Tennessee and Mississippi State got in as #4 seeds. Kentucky just missed out, though, as an at-large team.

By the way, WVU (as a #7 seed) and Creighton (as a #10 seed) played each other in the first round of the 2005 NCAA Tournament. It was won on a late dunk by Tyrone Sally. WVU went on to defeat #2-seeded Wake Forest in two overtimes, and beat Bobby Knight's Texas Tech Red Raiders before blowing a 20-point first half lead against Louisville and losing in overtime in the Elite Eight.

The seventh-seeded West Virginia Mountaineers (24-10) upset the second-seeded Maryland Terrapins (26-9) 81-68 this afternoon to earn their third Sweet Sixteen appearance in Coach Frizzell's four seasons at the school. The Mountaineers got off to a fast start, taking a 20-4 lead right off the bat, and never really looked back.

West Virginia led 44-27 at halftime and, though the Terrapins did manage to cut the lead to as few as 10 points in the second half, they never really truly threatened as WVU went on to cruise to a huge victory over the heavily-favored Terrapins.

Senior guard Zachary Wooten led the Mountaineers with a career-high 17 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Wooten also hit five three-pointers, another career-high for the senior playing in his last NCAA Tournament. Allan Pena tallied 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Osei Forney added 11 points, eight rebounds, and a pair of blocks while Kelyn Clemmons came off the bench to add 10 points.

Senior point guard Koki Neale led the Terrapins with 16 points and three assists. Laurence Hines was the only other double-digit scorer for Maryland as he ended with 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals.

West Virginia will face off against #3-seeded Duquesne in the Sweet Sixteen round of the NCAA Tournament next Friday.

Congrats on helping blow up the tournament. I guess the words for the Terps today are "over" and "rated." That's gotta be some nice revenge for Coach Frizzell, at least based on your history with Maryland.

I smell an Elite Eight run in your near future.

                            Meanwhile, WOLF! PACK!

Nice win over Maryland, way to shut 'em down on the glass. Good luck against the Dukes - I got to see them in real life when they played Virginia Tech in the NIT a couple of years back. Always a scrappy bunch.

Oops, that should be Clemson 65, BYU 55. I shall fix it!

Ah, yes. Maryland defeated my USF Dons back in the Championship Game four years ago, I believe! Revenge!!!!!!!!!!!!

                                Thanks.

Though Duquesne is seeded higher than me, my overall rating is one point higher (90 to 89 OVR), so I think I have a good chance to beat them and move on to the Elite Eight, where I will probably play Georgia Tech. GT is a juggernaut, though...
