Nice run to end the regular season. Hopefully you can punctuate it and improve your position in the Big East Tournament. If anything, that stretch to end the season should solidify your NCAA bid.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Thanks, guys. I think we're in the Big Dance no matter what now (we are projected as a #6 or #7 seed, but a few wins in the Big East Tournament could help us to improve our seeding.Comment

vs.
Providence (15-16) vs. #23 West Virginia (22-10)
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
March 8th, 2023
No. 23 West Virginia (22-10) had been on a roll at the end of the season, winning their last three games of the season, including a huge won against #7 Villanova on February 25th. Most expected their run to continue into the postseason, but those expectations were proven incorrect this afternoon as the Mountaineers were upset by the lowly #12-seeded Providence Friars (15-16). The Friars came into this one as heavy underdogs, but left with a 73-69 upset victory.
Providence led throughout the game. At times in the second half, the Friars led by as many as 12 points, though, as most goods teams do, the Mountaineers did make a run to tighten things up in the final minutes. As it turned out, the run was not enough, however, as the Friars came away with the huge four-point victory to advance to the second round of the 2023 Big East Tournament, where they will face off against #19 South Florida tomorrow at 2 PM.
As has been their Achilles Heel so often this season, turnovers played a huge role in deciding the outcome of this game. The Mountaineers turned the ball over 16 times while only totaling 14 assists. In comparison, Providence only committed nine turnovers. WVU outrebounded Providence 37-32 and also had an advantage from beyond the arc, but the Friars' free throw shooting proved to be the deciding factor, especially in the final minutes.
Providence went 26-for-31 from the charity stripe in the game, overall, but the Friars hit their final eight free throw attempts during the final minute of the game. In effect, their efforts from the free throw line prevented the comeback.
The Friars were led by senior guard J.D. Power, who came off the bench to deliver a team-high 15 points and three rebounds. Lloyd Chandler tallied 10 points, four rebounds, and six assists while Branduinn Famutimi added 14 points.
Osei Forney had a fantastic game for the Mountaineers, tallying 27 points, eight rebounds, and three assists. His 27 points were only two short of his career-high, which came in the loss to South Florida on December 28th. Brandon George added 15 points, seven rebounds, and three assists. Meanwhile, Damian French had another efficient game, hitting two three-pointers and recording 10 points and five boards.
West Virginia will now await its selection in the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, March 12th, and watch the rest of the 2023 Big East Tournament from home on television.

Man those turnovers are really killing West Virginia. The selection committee isn't going to be too pleased with this upset, sounds like someone's bubble just burst. My Dynasties
