By the way, Oregon State just happens to have one of the best-rated teams in the country (94 OVR). So much for being a #10 seed.

          Thats classic

Anyway I'm little late but I predict that Final Four will be:

          Texas
          West Virginia
          Louisville
          Wake Forest

          Final is Texas over WV.

I went 25-7 for the first round. Marquette losing kinda screws things up though. Big upset like that... I ain't even mad

                    #2 West Virginia (28-8) vs. #10 Oregon State (23-11)
                    Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena
                    Spokane, WA
                    March 19th, 2022

Senior center Marquel Proffitt did all he could to will his Mountaineers (28-8) past Oregon State (23-11) this afternoon in Spokane, but his 23-point, 10-rebound performance was not enough as the second-seeded West Virginia Mountaineers were upset by the 11th-seeded Beavers 76-70.

The game was tied 36-36 at the half and was a close contest throughout the second half until the Beavers made a late run that would eventually result in their 76-70 victory.

Mustafa Buboltz led the Beavers in scoring with 14 points and three rebounds. Krste Rothseiden tallied 12 points and four steals while Ramon Hinrich ended with 11 points and four assists. Jack Knox also came off the bench to add 13 points to the Beavers' winning effort.

In addition to Proffitt's efforts, senior Justino Whitworth scored 14 points for the Mountaineers and Allan Pena totaled 13 points and six rebounds.

"It is unfortunate that it had to end like this for our seniors," commented Coach Frizzell about his team's loss in the second round of this year's NCAA Tournament. "We played hard, but [Oregon State] really came out and kicked our butts, to put it frankly. They showed that they wanted it late in the game and we didn't respond."

With the loss, the Mountaineers finish the season 28-8 with a loss in the second round in the NCAA Tournament. Meanwhile, Oregon State marches on and will face off against #6-seeded Texas Tech in their Sweet Sixteen matchup at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Man that's a tough loss but so goes the tournament.

Does that mean it's time for the post mortem or time for the rampant job speculation, given that you've expressed interest in the past of leaving WVU to go back to a mid-major conference. Are you going to give it another run with your own recruits taking the lead?

Definitely surprising to see West Virginia bow out so early. That's why they call it March Madness. Proffitt has to be devastated to end his career on such a note.

I can guarantee that I will be back coaching in Morgantown next year, actually.

Yeah, it was a frustrating game, but Oregon State is really good. I have no idea how they lost 11 times this year.

It was sad to see Admundson go out with a whimper as his career at point guard ended.

I don't remember anyone that was absolutely excellent, in particular, but their whole team is capable of scoring and defending, so they were tough. I've already moved on to the next season, so I am unsure of the "pro buzz" they were getting.

By the way, I think Proffitt was projected as a 1st Round Pick (and maybe a high 1st Round Pick, but don't quote me on that).
