EDIT: Right on cue, GT wins it all lol. And my post is after it, so I look like a moron
Heh, I just posted them at the same time since I had both posts done and ready to go!

It was a nice run, though. I didn't expect to get by Maryland in the second round.

Thanks! I've got a solid class coming in, which I will fill you all in on later.

Hopefully the recruiting trail brings in some more good blood to keep your team's run going strong.
Oh, yeah, it was definitely a solid year. I didn't expect to beat GT, but after leading most of the game, it was disappointing. It also looked like I was about to wrap it up in first OT, then GT went on a run to tie it and second it to 2OT, when all my efforts went down the drain. Oh, well!

You put up a hellacious fight against the Jackets! Shame you couldn't come away with the W. Still, getting to the Elite Eight as a #7 seed is no small feat. Looking forward to how you rebound next season.

        Thanks!

Updates are coming now that I am done watching the disastrous occasion that was the Spurs/Thunder game...

            2023 Recruiting Class

This year's recruiting class might just be the best recruiting class in school history and, perhaps, the best class Coach Frizzell has reeled in at any school. In fact, this year's class is rated #6 in the nation, according to 2ksports.com analyst Lee Williamson.

Williamson stated, "All four recruits from Frizzell's class this season are rated inside the 2K Sports Top 100. In addition, they are all rated as four-star recruits. Coach Frizzell did not manage to pull in any 'elite' players in that can become stars right off the bat, but all four recruits are formidable and should get playing time from day one. And with three starters graduating from last year's class, there will be ample opportunity for playing time."

6'3 point guard Daimon Soto highlights the class. Soto hails from Lexington, KY and is rated as the #31 recruit in the 2023 recruiting class. Soto plays very intelligently and has a solid shot. His best attribute is his skill set on the defensive side of the ball, where he was a lock-down defender in high school.

Jud Helms, a 6'7" small forward, hails from Queens, NY. Helms possesses a solid shot and has a very high basketball IQ. He has good size for a small forward and is also known to be a solid defender.

Anderson Black hails from Tuscon, AZ. Black's strength is his defensive prowess. He also is fantastic at shooting the basketball. His only real weakness is his lack of size at 5'10" and 170 lbs.

Lastly, Bobby Dux joins the 2023 class from Green Bay, WI. Dux is a 6'5" shooting guard and possesses and excellent shot. He has a high basketball IQ and was a solid defender in his high school days.

All in all, this class rates as #6 in the entire country and the #1 class in the Big East. Clemson brings in the nation's top class with three 5* recruits and one 4* recruits while Tennessee, Duquesne, Virginia, and Boston College round out the top five.

            Signed Recruits:
            1. Dainmon Soto 6'3 193 (Lexington, KY - #31 overall, #16 PG) 4*

Just the fourth season with double digit losses in your coaching career. With that incoming class, looks like it'll be the last one for a while.

NOTE: I have made the decision to switch slider settings and will now be rolling with 20-minute halves starting this season. I just can't resist 20 minute halves as it will allow me to finally get realistic MPG statistics. Scores may be a little high, but they didn't seem too bad from my test games. I am using 500bloc's sliders, which can be found HERE.

Of course, as always, modifications may be needed as I move along, but the sliders I will use will probably stay largely the same.

As before, I will continue to play on MOP difficulty.

                    November 13th, 2023

The West Virginia Mountaineers (1-0) kicked off the 2023-2024 season with a 57-50 victory over the Wichita State Shockers (0-1) this evening. It was a hard-fought game between both sides.

West Virginia led early, but the Shockers would not relent and cut the lead to just a basket at halftime. Wichita State continued their strong play early in the second half, leading by as many as seven points in the early going before WVU stormed back. In the end, WVU would shoot ahead on a run of its own and hold on for the seven-point victory.

"Offensively, this wasn't the game we wanted," said Coach Frizzell, "but we played very well on the defensive end. Our shooting wasn't terrible overall, but our three-point shooting left a lot to be desired and the fact that we only got to the free throw line nine times was a bit concerning."

Both teams were excellent at taking care of the basketball. West Virginia only turned the ball over six times while Wichita State did even better, only committing four turnovers.

Osei Forney kicked off the season on a good note with a double-double as he racked up 12 points, 14 rebounds, and two blocks. Daryan Fitzwater also played well, adding 10 points and seven boards.

Jaime Agudio led the Shockers with 12 points and four rebounds while Corsley Wheless came off the bench to add 10 points.

West Virginia will face the Monmouth Owls on Friday in the Quarterfinals Round of the Paradise Jam Classic.

Same sliders I've been using, I always love playing games at full length (Madden at 15 minute quarters, NBA 2k at 12 mins, etc.). Just adds to the realism, and also puts the pressure on me to limit my mistakes because there's a lot more time to those to happen.

Nice win to start the season, great defensive effort.

Yep, 500bloc's are nice! I think I may have turned down a couple of the CPU Tendency sliders, but other than that, I am playing with a carbon copy of 500bloc's sliders right now.

Indeed! I used to play with 20 minute halves back earlier in this legacy, but the sliders were apparently not ideal as I started to put up some unseemly numbers that forced me to put half lengths back down to 16 minutes. We shall see what unfolds here, but I like these so far (and keep in mind that very few of my games will be 57-50 slugfests; that game was just an offensive disaster!).

West Virginia (2-0) defeated Monmouth (0-2) 74-54 this afternoon to advance to the second round of the Paradise Jam Classic in Tampa, FL.

West Virginia dominated from the start, taking a lead early and never letting the Owls back into the game.

The Mountaineers still struggled from beyond the arc, but shot over 50% from the field overall, and played exception defense, holding the Owls to only 34% shooting. In addition, as a team, Monmouth only made one of their 19 tries from downtown.

Randall Norton led the Mountaineers with a game-high 14 points. Osei Forney added 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocks while Kelyn Clemmons came from off the bench to add 11 points.

Lonnie Montrimas scored 12 points and grabbed three boards to lead the Owls in scoring. Israel Fitzgerald was the only other double-digit scorer as he ended with 10 points on four-for-17 shooting.

West Virginia will play Texas A&M in the Semifinals Round of the Paradise Jam Classic tomorrow. Texas A&M defeated Wichita State 71-67 earlier today.

Texas A&M (3-0) kept its undefeated season alive as the Aggies defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers (2-1) 79-72 to move on to the Championship Game on Monday in the Paradise Jam Classic in Tampa, FL.

Lead by A.B. Stapleton's 19 points and seven rebounds, the Aggies controlled the game early on, seemingly making every shot they make. In fact, as a team, the Aggies started off the game shooting seven-for-10. Texas A&M would cool off, allowing the Mountaineers to crawl back into the game by halftime, but in the end, the Aggies still shot a respectable 45% from the field and 45% from downtown.

Keyrden Gosley was also huge for Texas A&M. With Mychal Watkins in foul trouble for most of the game, Gosley got extended playing time and made the most of it. In 18 minutes, he shot six-for-10 from the floor and four-for-six from downtown. In all, he totaled 16 points, most of which came in the first half during Texas A&M's initial burst.

Brad Butler added 12 points, four assists, and two blocks. Dreike Reeves tallied a double-double with 10 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, and three steals.

Randall Norton scored a team-high 19 points and four rebounds for the Mountaineers. Osei Forney added 17 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks as he notched his second double-double this season.

Texas A&M will play Miami (FL) on Monday in the Championship Game of the Paradise Jam Classic. The Hurricanes defeated Charleston Southern 73-48 in the other semifinal round. In addition, the Mountaineers will face that Charleston Southern squad in the Third Place Game.
