Congrats on the All-American and defensive honors. Hopefully Len Shields can slide over to the center spot and take his place.

And hold up: Defensive Player of the Year does not count as a 2K award? Then what the hell does?

I think the 2k award is either the National Player of the Year or the Mid-Major Player of the year, one of those two.

Congrats on the successful season, even if you didn't reach your ultimate goal. Pretty awesome for Forney to get the Natl Def PoY award!

Time to reload for next season!

I think Len will stay at PF now that I'm through recruiting. We got a nice pickup at center!

Ah, I always wondered what that was for.

Thanks! Yeah, I knew Forney was pretty dominant down low and he along with Shields (and Proffitt the year prior) shut down most of the opposing bigs, but I didn't expect him to win the DPOTY award. I wonder how 2K's engine determines who wins that award?

Yes! But UCLA did and they pounded me by 21 earlier this season!

              2024 Recruiting Class

After turning down offers to coach at schools such as Duke, Missouri, Michigan, Illinois, and California after the season's conclusion, Coach Frizzell announced the 2024 recruiting class at West Virginia University. All three recruits of the 2024 recruiting class were signed in-season during the fall signing period.

D.C. Montgomery highlights the class. Montgomery hails from Queens, NY and was Mr. Basketball in the state of New Year. He is ranked as the 15th player in this year's class and the third-best small forward. Montgomery has shown to be a good shooter and is very athletic. He is an intelligent basketball player and experts believe he has great potential to grow into a start player in the coming years. With Daryan Fitzwater's graduation, he will get a chance at the starting job at small forward right off the bat, though he will have to battle out Jud Helms for the spot.

Leandro Summers, a 6'3" guard out of Trenton, NJ, is ranked as the 35th overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class. He is a tremendous shooter and plays great defense. His athleticism is also another strong point. Summers is unlikely to grab the starting job next year with Randall Norton currently occupying the starting job at the '2' spot, but with Norton's ensuing graduation the following year, Summers could get the starting job in his sophomore year.

Finally, Tre Welch will join the Mountaineers this fall. Welch has great size at 6'11", though his weight is a bit lacking at the moment as he only weighs in at 205 lbs. He is a great rebounder and also has a high basketball IQ. Welch is ranked as the 95th overall prospect in this year's class and is the #3 center. Welch hails from Bloomington, MN. He will get a chance at the starting job next fall, though he will have to compete with Gerrod Grizzard.

Even with only three signees in this year's class, WVU has the seventh-highest ranked recruiting class in the nation. This gives Coach Frizzell and the Mountaineers two top seven recruiting classes in a row as last year's class ranked #6 in the nation.

              Signed Recruits:
              1. D.C. Montgomery 6'6 210 (Queens, NY - #15 overall, #3 SF) 5*, Mr. Basketball
              2. Leandro Summers 6'3 180 (Trenton, NJ - #35 overall, #14 SG) 4*
              3. Tre Welch 6'11 205 (Bloomington, MN - #95 overall, #3 C) 4*

Wow that's a nice recruiting class! So what do you think about this team? Do you see a deep run in the tournament with these guys?

                  Thanks!

Our team for the 2024-2025 season will be rated a little higher than last year's team that earned a #5 seed in the NCAA Tournament. However, the Big East is unlikely to be as weak this season. I think we should make the tournament at 3-6 seed or so and certainly have a realistic shot at the Sweet Sixteen, though. We will have to learn to get by without Forney, though.

Virginia Tech?! Nationally ranked?! I must need to check my eyesight.

Crazy how one big man leaves and another slides right in out the gate to fill his space - hopefully he'll have a career that can fill Forney's shoes and then some.

What made you decide to name Gary as a bench player over O'Neil? Just scanned through the roster and it peaked my interest.

I named Gary as part of the 12-man rotation because I felt that I needed a fourth guy that can sub in at the low-post. O'Neill is a better player, but he wouldn't likely get to play much as Jud Helms already has the backup SF locked up and my other guards could fill in at SF anytime he is not available.

I hope you scheduled a tough enough non-conferece... Sheesh
It should be a piece of cake!

After some recent years (not including last year), I felt a bit underwhelmed about my non-conference. I don't think that will be a problem this year. We might have the #1 SOS in all of America once this season is over.
