Wow I read this all back in march and then I accidentally closed my browser so i couldn't find this again and just scrolling through the 2k forums today I happen to see your old thread and I clicked the link to here and I can finally read this again because reading your thread got me to buy this game a couple of months back. Well anyways I will continue reading and maybe try to catch up on what I missed. But thanks for posting these dude. Cheers

Thanks, man! Yes, I used to double-post this here and on the CH2K8 Legacy Forums back in the day. Good times! That forum is basically dead these days, though a lot of us have made it over here now (and some have since seemingly disappeared, unfortunately).

Thanks! It is truly a great game. Though, frankly, it's not as if there is much in the way of options. Legacy mode is what brings me back. The gameplay isn't (and never really was) exactly marvelous, but it is generally pretty realistic and legacy mode just can't be beat. The graphics still hold up fine, IMO. The in-game presentation is rather lackluster, which is my only real issue with the game. I miss the ESPN presentation that College Hoops 2K4 and 2K5 had with Mike Patrick and Jay Bilas.

Anyways, I probably will not be posting many updates between now and Christmas as I usually don't get in my CHooping this time of year. But, if the past is any indication, I will be back then.

In the mean time, I am a little behind on my updates, so I will have a few games to post between now and then, so this thread won't be dying anytime soon.

The West Virginia Mountaineers opened their season with a 74-65 win against the Santa Clara Broncos at the Lloyd Noble Center in Norman, OK this evening in the opening round of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic.

Santa Clara led for the vast majority of the game. The Broncos led 33-26 at halftime and led by as many as 10 point in the second half before the Mountaineers led a comeback, spearheaded by freshman small forward D.C. Montgomery.

Montgomery scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half. His shooting was rather poor this afternoon, but he was excellent at slashing to the basket and getting to the free throw line, where he hit nine of his 11 attempts. Montgomery would end the night with 14 points and five rebounds.

Fellow freshman Trey Welch also came alive in the second half. Welch just missed out on a double-double in only his first career game as he would tally 13 points, 9 nine rebounds, four steals, and three blocks. Senior point guard Barry George also added 13 points and four assists.

Santa Clara was led by Chey Griffin, who scored a game-high 15 points and tallied four assists to lead the Broncos. Hal Gale added 11 points while Ronell Lathum and Glenn Rowell scored 10 points apiece.

West Virginia will play Harvard tomorrow in the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic Quarterfinals.

West Virginia defeated the Harvard Crimson 70-63 this evening to advance to the Semifinals of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic next week at Madison Square Garden in Manhattan where they will face the Fordham Rams.

After struggling in the Mountaineers' first game, junior power forward Len Shields led the Mountaineers with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. Freshman D.J. Montgomery had another solid game, tallying 16 points and three rebounds. After two games, Montgomery is the Mountaineers' leading scorer.

Devin Morrison led Harvard with 18 points and five rebounds while Arden Halsell tallied 11 points and eight rebounds.

West Virginia led for the entire game, but the Crimson made a late run to cut the lead to seven points. In the end, it was a victory for WVU, however, as they improve to 2-0 on the young season.

The Mountaineers will face Niagara in the opening round of the NIT Season Tip-Off at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, NY on January 11th.

In the mean time, I am a little behind on my updates, so I will have a few games to post between now and then, so this thread won't be dying anytime soon.
It's funny I said that because I have started to play this game again quite a bit in the last couple days.

                    November 14th, 2024

West Virginia withstood a late run by Fordham as the Mountaineers defeated the Rams 78-70 to advance to the Championship Game tomorrow evening of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic in Madison Square Garden.

Barry George paced the efficient WVU offense with 16 points and four assists. D.J. Montgomery added 16 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two blocks. Len Shields had a career day on the glass as the 7'0" junior totaled 12 points and 16 rebounds. His 16 rebounds ties his career-high mark.

West Virginia held a 41-31 rebounding advantage over the Rams. In addition, the Mountaineers went to the free throw line 37 times, making 23 of them. In comparison, Fordham only went to the line nine times and made eight of their attempts from the charity stripe. That decisive advantage in the Mountaineers' favor ultimately decided the game.

West Virginia shot 41%, but really struggled from beyond the three-point arc, where they only managed to shoot five-for-23.

Randall Norton continued to struggle for the Mountaineers, as he missed all six of his shot attempts and ended with only three points and four steals. After five games, Norton is only shooting 21% from the floor and has only made two of his 21 three-point attempts, which is startling considering the three is his specialty.

Sophomore center Taurance Todd led Fordham with 17 points, seven rebounds, and a pair of blocks. Nate Johnson added 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists while Errick Snipes paced the offense with 12 points and five assists. Charlie Guy also added 12 points to the Rams' losing effort.

The Mountaineers will face off against Big East foe St. John's in the Championship Game tomorrow evening. The Red Storm defeated Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 85-50 in their semifinal match.

How can you not. It's still one of the most amazing games ever made. If only we could get 2k to understand and come back and make us a even more incredible game next year.

Then they could show EA something. It is possible to take a great game and make it better. Something they have yet to really do with College Football or Madden.

Agreed. In some ways time has passed it by, but in most ways it has not. The gameplay is still remarkably good for being almost five years old and the graphics are still pretty decent. Not having played any NBA 2K since 2K8 certainly helps, though.

The West Virginia Mountaineers narrowly defeated the St. John's Red Storm 82-80 this evening to win the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic Tournament Championship at Madison Square Garden.

The Mountaineers came back from a four-point halftime deficit to take an early lead in the second half. After trailing by as many as 12 points in the second half, the Red Storm would rally, however, and pulled to within two points at the final buzzer.

D.C. Montgomery led the Mountaineers in scoring with 21 points, tying his previous career-high set against Niagara on Monday. Randall Norton had a nice bounce-back game after struggling all season as he recorded a season-high 16 points and notched four steals. Len Shields tallied a double-double with 12 points, 14 rebounds, and three blocks while Tre Welch chipped in 13 points and nine rebounds.

The Mountaineers held a huge advantage at the free throw line, where they hit 15 of their 21 attempts. St. John's, meanwhile, only managed a three-for-eight mark from the charity stripe. This helped to offset St. John's advantages in field goal percentage (54% to 41%) and three-pointers made (nine to seven).

Darron Farrell led the Red Storm in scoring with 20 points and three boards. Wiley Petrauskas notched 17 points from off the bench while Don Osimani added 11 points and three assists.

West Virginia will face Oregon on November 20th at Carnesecca Arena in the semifinal match of the 2024 NIT Season Tip-Off Tournament.

In an early season matchup of top 25 teams, No. 21 West Virginia defeated No. 20 Oregon 82-76 in the semifinal round of the NIT Season Tip-Off. It was truly a turnover-fest as the two teams combined for 43 turnovers collectively, but the Mountaineers got it done, especially in the second half.

Oregon shot well over 50% on the game, but West Virginia held a huge advantage at the free throw line, where they shot 23-for-28. WVU's D.C. Montgomery made 11 free throws by himself as he would end with 21 points (a new career-high), six rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Len Shields notched a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds, and four steals while Randall Norton added 11 points.

Senior small forward Cori Mims tallied 15 points and three rebounds. Lamar Love had a great all-around game as he totaled 11 points, four rebounds, five assists, and five steals while Alexei Schaen came off the bench to add 11 points and five steals.

West Virginia will face undefeated Tulane in the NIT Season Tip-Off Championship Game tomorrow evening.

Congrats on the 7-0 start and the big win over the Ducks.

So how do you decide what kind of minutes your bench gets. I noticed. Clemons had a DNP, then a couple of games where he played just 3 and 5 mins, then others where he had 10 min and gave you some points of the bench.

Also would you say your lack of 3pt shooting is probably your team's biggest weakness?
