Been a while, congrats on the title run!!

I'm curious to see how Palmer does in the place of Welch.. though judging by his frame I think he'll do fine.

Thanks. Palmer should be okay. Another nice big body at center and he seems to be a great rebounder, which is always very nice. Augustin will see plenty of action, too. Of course, Nile Stevenson should headline the group of low-post players this year at PF.

So some changes for this year...

        - Game difficulty will be moved to All-American from All-Conference.

        - All of the HUM shooting sliders will be moved down by a click.

        - The CPU's drive tendency will be moved down from 100 to 60 in the hopes of getting slower-paced games.

        - I will institute and enforce a house rule whereby I cannot ever use the B crossover button. I have tended to try to limit using it in the past, but I think it's time to just go cold-turkey as it's basically cheese. Using the Y button is still permitted, however.

So, here are the updated sliders:

          vs.
          Ohio (0-1) vs. #5 West Virginia (1-0)
          WVU Coliseum
          Morgantown, WV
          November 3rd, 2028

West Virginia (1-0) got the season started off on the right track this evening as the defending national champions demolished the visiting Ohio Bobcats (0-1) 106-60 behind yet another spectacular shooting performance, picking up right where they left off from last year's NCAA Tournament.

As a team, the Mountaineers shot 61% from the floor this evening and 46% from three-point range. The defense also played reasonably well, forcing the Bobcats into 16 turnovers.

It was a balanced scoring night for the Mountaineers as the veterans and the newcomers showed why this team has both a bright present and future. Nile Stevenson led the way with 18 points, five rebounds, and two blocks. Deno Woodards also totaled 18 points and four assists while Fred Joiner added 14 points and three rebounds.

The WVU freshman were also very impressive as the #1 class in the country justified their ranking tonight. Ethan Augustin was very impressive at the power forward/center position as he played significant minutes, totaling 15 points, four rebounds, and three assists. 6'6" freshman guard Predrag Gabler showed his shooting touch tonight as he added 10 points. Armondo Whelchel, the top-ranked recruit from WVU's class, also had a fine game as he backed up Deno Woodards and totaled nine points, three rebounds, and three steals, in addition to playing superb defense.

Rasheed Smith scored 14 points and grabbed three rebounds for the Bobcats while Garry Carroll also added 14 points. Sophomore seven-footer Tom Coles also played well down low as he contributed 10 points and seven rebounds in the losing effort.

West Virginia will face their first test next week as they will host the rival No. 24 Virginia Tech Hokies.

Huge win against Ohio. Way to beat up on the little guy lol. For real though, that win sets the time for the rest of the year, I'm expecting an undefeated season! Good luck brother

Just 720,000 more views until 1 million. Almost there!

At this rate, it will reach that amount of views around 2030.

Undefeated is going to be tough. That being said, this team is about as good as last year, so who knows? The freshmen are very good.

You can do it. I have faith in Coach Frizzell's coaching ability, and it helps that you do have some very talented freshman.

The defending champions passed their first test of this young season as the fifth-ranked Mountaineers defeated the visiting rival Hokies 92-76.

No. 24 Virginia Tech (1-1) made a game of it early, but the Mountaineers (2-0) battled back and seized a 41-30 halftime advantage. The Mountaineers extended their lead to as many as 24 points midway through the second half to put the game out of reach. The Hokies made a bit of a comeback to cut the lead to 12 at one point, but they ran out of gas and WVU pulled away once again to earn the 24-point important victory over their hated rivals.

Waitari Trammell was spectacular for West Virginia as he scored a game-high 25 points and also totaled four boards and four assists, hitting seven of his 11 attempts from three-point range. Nile Stevenson also had a great game and showed off his passing skills as he tallied 17 points, five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. Fred Joiner added 12 points while Armondo Whelchel came off the bench to score 13 points.

Torin Lovelace led the Hokies with 21 points, six rebounds, and a pair of blocks as he hit eight of his 10 field goal attempts for a very efficient night. Dominic Jeanpierre was the Hokies' only other double-digit scorer as he added 10 points and three assists.

"It's great to knock off a rival like this and I think this shows that we have a strong team once again this season," beamed Coach Frizzell. "We lost a lot of great kids to graduation, but we have a lot of great guys back and we've brought in some fresh talent this offseason, as well."

Next, West Virginia will take on Alabama State in the first round of the Hawaiian Invitational.

                            Hawaiian Invitational Tournament Quarterfinals
                            November 13th, 2028

As expected, fifth-ranked West Virginia (3-0) throttled Alabama State (1-3) this evening 85-58 to advance to the Hawaiian Invitation Semifinals tomorrow evening. Alabama State kept it within striking distance for the first half, but the Mountaineers blew it open after halftime.

O.J. Palmer led the way in scoring for the Mountaineers with a game-high and career-high 18 points to go along with seven rebounds. Armondo Whelchel delivered career-highs in points and rebounding as he totaled 18 points and nine rebounds. Fred Joiner added 13 points while Deno Woodards tallied 11 points and six boards.

Corbin Stapley led Alabama State with 16 points and three steals while Arthur Nabors added 12 points.

LSU upset #7 Texas Tech earlier this evening, so the Mountaineers will face the Tigers in the semifinals tomorrow, meaning the Mountaineers will avoid a rematch of last year's Final Four national semifinal.
