The ACC has probably been consistently the best conference in this legacy for the most part. It has made me contemplate a move to NC State at times for the competition, but I don't know... If I move on from NC State, it will probably to go back to rebuild my alma mater.

As far as the schedule, I usually take the CPU-generated schedule, add a game against Marshall, add a game against Virginia Tech, add a non-conference tournament (preferably one with at least three rounds), and usually add a tough non-conference game (if the CPU hasn't already scheduled one). I usually try to do home-and-home series with big-time opponents if I think about it.

Yes, we always seem to have good games against Marquette.

I told this to Deuce the other day, but I, like whughes and others, would love to see a new breath of air so to speak in the football section. Isn't a lot satisfying my fancy right now outside of my own and a few others..
Well, I should be joining you guys in the football section soon. I had a ton of stuff to do for school, but the last thing for a bit was due today, so I'm relatively "free" for awhile.

      Alabama A&M (0-3) vs. #5 West Virginia (1-0)

      November 14th, 2027

No. 5 West Virginia (1-0) opened up its season tonight against Alabama A&M (0-3). As expected, the Mountaineers cruised to an easy victory, surpassing the Bulldogs 91-53.

Tre Welch led the way with a career-high 31 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks. He shot a blistering 13-for-15 from the field. Nile Stevenson started for the first time in his career and tallied 14 points and five rebounds while Deno Woodards' first start culminated with his first career double-double as he ended with 13 points and 10 rebounds. The big story was freshman sensation Fred Joiner, who, despite spraining his ankle, hit seven of his nine shot attempts and ended with 17 points, five assists, and three steals in just 21 minutes. There could be a bit of a competition for the starting point guard position heating up due to Joiner's performance, though Waitari Trammell wasn't too shabby himself, pacing the offense with eight points, six assists, and no turnovers.

Bud Abbellard was the only Bulldog to record double-figures as he ended with 19 points and three rebounds. The Bulldogs were hassled on offense all night long as they committed 17 turnovers and only shot 34% from the field.

Next, West Virginia will travel to Anchorage, AK to take on the Prairie View A&M Panthers in the Great Alaska Shootout quarterfinals.

Congrats on getting that first W of the year out of the way. Hopefully many more to come.

Thanks, and I will post a link.

I was struggling to find some sliders I'm happy with for awhile, but I think I might have finally found something that is sufficiently challenging.

Yes, thanks. As a person who suffers from RDS (Restarting Dynasty Syndrome), it has surprised me. I think I've put too much into this that there is no turning back at this point.

                Great Alaska Shootout Quarterfinals

No. 3 West Virginia (2-0) took care of business today in the first round of the Great Alaska Shootout, dominating the Prairie View A&M Panthers (1-3) 94-55 to advance to the semifinals.

Leandro Summers led the way with 18 points, three rebounds, and three steals while Waitari Trammell paced the offense with 17 points, three assists, and three steals. Tre Welch added 14 points, six rebounds, five assists, three steals, and three blocks while Deno Woodards totaled 12 points, five rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Nile Stevenson closed out the double-figures scoring with 12 points, six rebounds, and three steals in just 23 minutes of action. All five WVU starters scored at least 12 points.

Freshman shooting guard Dominic Newman led the Panthers with 11 points.

The Panthers were held to just 33% shooting and committed a startling 24 turnovers as the WVU defense had a field day.

Coach Frizzell will go up against his old team, the Princeton Tigers, tomorrow afternoon. Princeton defeated North Texas 69-65 to advance to the semifinals. On the other side of the eight-team bracket, No. 7 Wake Forest defeated Northern Colorado 85-66 to advance and No. 22 Indiana blew out Wright State 83-49.

                  Great Alaska Shootout Semifinals

It looked like No. 3 West Virginia (3-0) had met its match. The Princeton Tigers (3-5) came into Anchorage and flat-out whooped the Mountaineers for the first three-fourths of the game, seizing an early 10-point lead and leading by as many as 18 points at various points in the game. West Virginia's star Tre Welch struggled mightily and WVU had a very difficult time generating much offensively.

However, like all great teams, the Mountaineers started to come alive when it mattered. Welch never really got it going, but freshman Fred Joiner did, as he hit six of 12 shots to record 14 points and three assists. Deno Woodard also came up big late with some timely threes as he hit three-for-four from beyond the arc and ended with 11 points, five rebounds, and two blocks. Waitari Trammell added 13 points, four assists, and three steals.

After falling behind 34-24 at halftime, the Mountaineers roared back in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 48-29 en route to a 72-63 victory in the Great Alaska Shootout Semifinals.

Princeton was led by senior forward Corien Morrison, who scored a game-high 20 points and grabbed four boards. Taliek Deren added 13 points and four rebounds.

The ultimate deciding factor of the game was at the free throw line. The Mountaineers sunk 16 of 19 from the charity stripe while Princeton performed terribly, only making 10 of their 22 attempts. If it weren't for numerous missed free throws down the stretch, the Tigers would have likely won the game.

"They played great and it was a lot of fun to see my former team still playing well," remarked WVU's Coach Frizzell. Princeton was Frizzell's first collegiate head coaching job. He coached there for nine years and brought the Tigers to one Final Four, two Elite Eights, and three Sweet Sixteens. This year's edition of the Princeton Tigers won the Ivy League Conference Championship last year and are an early favorite to win another this year.

West Virginia will face No. 22 Indiana in the Great Alaska Shootout Championship Game tomorrow. Indiana defeated No. 7 wake Forest 89-81 to advance to the final.

                    Great Alaska Shootout Championship Game

Indiana (6-0) kept its undefeated season alive as the 22nd-ranked Hoosiers defeated No. 3 West Virginia (3-1) 73-70 to win the Great Alaska Shootout.

Indiana led early and led throughout most of the game in their three-point victory. It was a close game, but the Hoosiers held key advantages in several areas, including three-point shooting and passing the basketball. Indiana shot eight-for-21 from three-point range while holding WVU to only four-for-18 and the Hoosiers racked up a season-high 25 assists on 28 field goals while committing only 12 turnovers. Meanwhile, WVU turned the basketball over more than they assisted, totaling 13 assists and 15 turnovers.

"They really put on a passing clinic," remarked WVU head coach James Frizzell. "We aspire to be able to pass the basketball like that, but we've struggled a bit early in this season in that regard."

The Hoosiers distributed the ball around so that no player scored more than 16 points and all 10 players who played at least three minutes scored at least two points. Houston Briggs led Indiana in scoring with a team-high 16 points and three assists. Senior point guard Ricky Lowe was key as he paced the offense with 10 points, three rebounds, and eight assists while Tyson Munir had a nice game in the low block, where he tallied 11 points, eight rebounds, five steals, and a pair of blocks. Matt Capel added 10 points.

Tre Welch led West Virginia with a game-high 23 points, 10 rebounds, and a career-high four blocks. Deno Woodards added 12 points and six rebounds while Leandro Summers contributed 10 points, three rebounds, and four steals. Sixth-man Fred Joiner came off the bench to add 10 points and five assists.

Princeton upset No. 7 Wake Forest 76-72 in the third-place game of the Great Alaska Shootout earlier this afternoon. Wright State beat North Texas 75-71 in the fifth-place game.

West Virginia will look to get back on track at home against Coppin State on Tuesday.

Sucks that your entire team transferred to Princeton. That must've been why you lost to them. But at least you got Princeton's entire team!

Oh, God, LOL. I fixed the score so it is right, though the box score is probably going to just stay backwards unless I think about fixing it later. Oh, well. At least I won.

As expected, No. 5 West Virginia (4-1) bounced back from last week's loss against Indiana as the Mountaineers rolled over Coppin State (3-5) by a final score of 75-55. The Eagles kept the game closer than most probably expected, but the Mountaineers were firmly in control from start to finish.

Both teams struggled shooting the basketball as the Mountaineers and the Eagles shot an identical 21-for-61 from the floor (34%), but West Virginia held a huge advantage at the free throw line and from beyond the three-point arc, which ultimately told the tale. West Virginia also forced the Eagles into 14 turnovers while only committing seven of their own.

Tre Welch led the way with a dominating, 17-point, 15-rebound effort for the Mountaineers. Fred Joiner had another great game off the bench as he added 14 points, four assists, and four steals while Leandro Summers ended with 12 points and four rebounds. Deno Woodards added 11 points and five boards.

Marcin Corner scored a team-high 12 points and grabbed four boards to lead the Eagles. W.C. Robinson just missed out on a double-double with 10 points and nine rebounds while Channing Harper added 11 points.

Next, West Virginia will host Coastal Carolina on November 27th.

                                November 27th, 2027

No. 5 West Virginia (5-1) rolled over the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers (3-3) in this one, topping them 92-57 in a blowout victory.

Sixth man Fred Joiner led the way with a game-high 16 points, eight rebounds, and five assists as the 6'4" freshman point guard really had a breakout game. His only blemish was five turnovers. Deno Woodards hit a trio of triples to score 13 points while Tre Welch struggled shooting from the field, but made up for it at the foul line as he tallied 11 points, nine rebounds, and three steals. Nile Stevenson rebounded from a difficult game against Coppin State as he totaled 10 points, six rebounds, and three steals this afternoon while Waitari Trammell paced the offense with 10 points, four rebounds, and seven assists in just 24 minutes.

The blowout gave Coach Frizzell ample reason to give everyone on the active roster playing time and all 12 WVU players scored at least a basket in the game.

Senior point guard Clay Shehan led Coastal Carolina in scoring with 18 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals, but did so on an inefficient six-for-23 from the field and four-for-13 from downtown. Sherman Clinton did have a great game down low, however, as he tallied the game's only double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.

West Virginia shot 49% from the field while holding the Chanticleers to just 31%.

The Mountaineers will face a stiffer test next week as they will host the Alabama Crimson Tide.
