      vs.
      Alabama (3-3) vs. #4 West Virginia (6-1)
      WVU Coliseum
      Morgantown, WV
      December 1st, 2027

Alabama (3-3) did not make it easy for the Mountaineers (6-1), but the Crimson Tide could not repeat what they did in Tuscaloosa last year: beat No. 4 West Virginia. Instead, the Mountaineers prevailed this evening 88-76 behind a strong career-best effort by Deno Woodards.

Woodards was amazing for the Mountaineers as the sophomore small forward absolutely poured it in from beyond the arc, where he hit five of his nine three-point attempts. Overall, he shot eight-for-14 from the field and ended with a career-high 21 points to go along with three rebounds.

Fred Joiner also had a fantastic game for the Mountaineers. Coming off the bench, Joiner paced the offense with a near triple-double as he racked up 15 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists while committing just two turnovers in 29 minutes of action. He was just two rebounds and one assist shy of the famed triple-double. Nile Stevenson added 12 points, five rebounds, three steals, and two blocks. Tre Welch found it hard to get up many shots against a superior Alabama defensive lineup in the low block, but he still managed a good all-around game, tallying 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals, and three blocks.

Sophomore power forward Craig Zeigler led Alabama with a career-high 18 points and six rebounds. Freshman point guard Brad Werner also posted a career-high in points as he paced the offense with 16 points and three assists. W.C. Stapleton added 13 points and a career-high six steals while Temi Summers came off the bench to contribute 12 points, five rebounds, and three assists. Freshman small forward Rich Faulk also added 11 points from off the bench.

West Virginia shot 52% from the floor and hit 10 of 20 from beyond the arc. The Mountaineers also outrebounded Alabama 31-to-21. What mostly kept the game close was 17 WVU turnovers, many of them fairly unforced.

"We'll need to improve in that area if we want to win ball games against better teams," explained WVU's Coach Frizzell about his team's turnover issues in the game. "Throwing the basketball away is throwing away any chance at scoring on the possession and in may cases can lead to the opponent getting a fastbreak opportunity to get their own score. We simply cannot turn the basketball over that much and expect to win."

West Virginia's next matchup will be the biggest of the young season as they will travel to Blacksburg, VA to take on the rival No. 10 Virginia Tech Hokies.

Nice win despite the loss in the turnover battle. Looking forward to your next game against Virginia Tech, still shocked to see them ranked at all let alone in the Top 10. Good luck!

Yeah, it seems that they have been improving in this legacy over the last few years. It works well because it's a rivalry game (well, it's really a football rivalry, but I carried it over to basketball), so it makes the games more competitive.

No. 25 Virginia Tech (6-2) gave a valiant effort to avenge last year's defeat at the hands of the West Virginia Mountaineers, but the Hokies could not quite top the hill as they squandered a lead in the first half to lose at home 77-70 versus the No. 4 team in the land.

The Hokies led 37-36 at halftime and the game was close until the final buzzer. West Virginia (7-1) pulled ahead a bit in the final minutes and Waitari Trammell hit some key free throws in the final minute to secure the victory.

For West Virginia, it is their fourth consecutive victory, but for Virginia Tech, it is their second consecutive loss. The Hokies were handed an embarrassing 67-42 defeat at the hands of Marshall on December 1st, which sent them spiraling from No. 10 in the top 25 to the final spot.

WVU's Tre Welch was mired in foul trouble and only played 23 minutes, as a result. He fouled out in the closing minutes, but WVU was able to overcome it through a fine outing by Olson Palmer, who scored a career-high 10 points and tallied three boards and three steals. Welch had an alright game, totaling 11 points and 10 rebounds in limited action. Waitari Trammell scored a team-high 17 points while Deno Woodards added 10 points and three rebounds. R.J. Peterson and Fred Joiner added 10 points apiece.

7'3" junior center Will Jordan scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed three rebounds to lead the Hokies. Dominic Jeanpierre was the only other double-figure scorer as he totaled 18 points, three rebounds, and four assists.

West Virginia will host winless 0-9 Hartford on Saturday.

awesome job with WVU man you really sparked my interest when you started this legacy. At the end of this season(Which I believe is the final season that 2k8 goes to) would you do a career showcase showing your overall record and individual season records for each season.

Thanks for following, and, yes, Knickerbocker is correct in his post below. It is 40 years, so that's really no issue yet.

Assuming it is the same as it was in CH 2K6 (where I simmed out a full legacy just for fun), the game gives you a message prior to your final season telling you its your "Swan Song", etc. I'm not sure if it even lets you recruit during the final season.

Good to hear! I still have some more updates prepared and I would assume I'll be playing this game again soon now that CBB season has started up again. Bedtime reading is the best! :0

                              December 11th, 2027

As expected, No. 4 West Virginia (8-1) easily cruised past a winless Hartford (0-11) squad 97-37. Fred Joiner led the Mountaineers with a career-high 23 points, four rebounds, and six assists from off the bench.

Leandro Summers added 16 points and three rebounds while Tre Welch tallied a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds, and three steals. Nile Stevenson ended with 12 points and seven boards.

The Mountaineers shot 54% from the floor while holding Hartford to just 22% shooting and 37 points.

Zach Bethel was Hartford's leading scorer with nine points on just 3-17 shooting.

The Mountaineers will face a tougher test next week as they will hit the road to take on the Arkansas Razorbacks.
