Indeed! I actually made some slider changes after the VT game, so hopefully that will help some. (I changed to the sliders I posted on the previous page and on the introduction post to this thread.)

Ya I seen your post a couple pages back with the other sliders on it. I assumed you had already switched to those

I'm usually a few games behind in posting, so I went ahead and posted that before the season began. I had made slider changes already, but the VT game made me realize I needed to do a little more tweaking to get scores down some.

          Hawaiian Invitational Tournament Semifinals
          November 14th, 2028

No. 5 West Virginia (4-0) finally got a test this evening as they narrowly edged the LSU Tigers 75-73 in the semifinals of the Hawaiian Invitational Tournament.

LSU (3-2) led WVU for much of the first half, but the Mountaineers mounted a late run to tie it up at 37 apiece as the two teams retired to the locker rooms for the halftime break. The two teams continued to duel in the second half as neither team seemed to be able to gain an edge, but the Mountaineers pulled ahead when it counted and were able to gain a five-point edge in the final minute. The Tigers sank a three as time expired to cut the lead to two points, but in the end it was another victory for the defending national champions, their 10th consecutive win dating back to last season.

Waitari Trammell led the way for WVU as he paced the offense with 17 points and six dimes. Nile Stevenson had a nice game, totaling 15 points and five rebounds, while R.J. Peterson came off the bench to drill three three-pointers and ended with 11 points and four rebounds.

Earnest Clifton scored 21 points and grabbed three steals for the Tigers. Wes Moss was the only other LSU player to reach double-figures in scoring as he ended with 12 points and three rebounds.

NC State defeated California 88-79 in tonight's other semifinal matchup, so the Mountaineers will face off against the Wolfpack tomorrow evening to vie for the Hawaiian Invitational Title.

Yep! I still have a great team, so we'll still win a lot of games and maybe even go undefeated, but it should be a little more competitive and, most importantly, slower-paced now.

                  Hawaiian Invitational Tournament Quarterfinals
                  November 15th, 2028

No. 5 West Virginia (5-0) claimed the Hawaiian Invitational Title this evening with a solid victory over the NC State Wolfpack (3-1), who lost their first game of the season tonight. NC State led by as many as 11 points in the first half and led by five at the halftime break, but the Mountaineers came storming back in the second half to lead by double-digits before eventually defeating the Wolfpack 83-73.

The Mountaineers won this game largely based on their performance on the glass, where they outrebounded the Wolfpack 43-20. O.J. Palmer was a huge reason why as he hauled down 15 rebounds to go along with 22 points, both of which were career-highs for the first-year starter. Nile Stevenson also had a nice game on the glass as he tallied 15 points and nine boards.

The Mountaineers struggled shooting the ball from distance as they only made five of their 20 attempts from beyond the arc.

Waitari Trammell added 12 points, five assists, and four steals for the Mountaineers while Fred Joiner totaled 10 points and six rebounds.

Prosper Dizdarevic led NC State with 16 points and four assists. Ty Zimmerman added 12 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and three steals while Johnnie Esparaza tallied 10 points. Christopher Cortez added 11 points from off the bench.

"This was a great little preview of what this team has to offer," explained WVU's Coach Frizzell. "We had some tough games in this tournament, but we pulled through and won a title. We'll look to build on this going forward as some of our new pieces begin to gel and we become a better team together."

West Virginia will host rival Marshall next Saturday after a nine-day layoff. The Thundering Herd are currently undefeated at 6-0.

Marshall (7-2) got off to a hot start this year, winning their first seven games, but have now lost two-straight as they were throttled by No. 4 West Virginia this evening 76-44.

The Thundering Herd kept pace until halftime, but after that, it was all West Virginia (6-0) as the Mountaineers took a 33-21 halftime advantage and outscored the Herd 43-23 in the second half en route to their 32-point romping over the rival Herd.

                          December 2nd, 2028

As expected, 3rd-ranked West Virginia (7-0) easily cruised past Bradley (3-5) this evening in Peoria as the Mountaineers defeated the Braves 85-52. It was a balanced effort for the Mountaineers, with five players reaching double-figures scoring, and a fine defensive effort as the Braves were held to 41% shooting and three-for-16 from three-point range.

Nile Stevenson had another nice game as he led WVU in scoring with 17 points and seven rebounds. O.J. Palmer added 13 points and seven rebounds while Waitari Trammell also scored 13 and tallied three assists. Deno Woodards added 10 points, four rebounds, and three assists while Armondo Whelchel contributed 12 points and four boards from off the bench.

Denard Iguodala led Bradley in scoring with 15 points, though he also turned the basketball over five times.

West Virginia will hit the road against next week as the Mountaineers will take on Manhattan in New York.

No. 2 West Virginia (8-0) hit the road this evening and took care of business as they crushed Manhattan (4-5) 97-36 to earn their eighth win of the young season.

The Mountaineers played excellent defense, holding the Jaspers to only 22% on field goal attempts and one-for-11 from three-point range. The Jaspers also committed 17 turnovers as they could seemingly do no right on offense.

Freshman Armondo Whelchel led WVU with 15 points and four rebounds. Fellow freshman Predrag Gabler added 14 points and three rebounds. Fred Joiner led the starters in scoring with 12 points and five assists while Deno Woodards added 11 points, three rebounds, and four steals. Nile Stevenson also notched a nice outing as he totaled 10 points and six boards.

Jim Rogers led the Jaspers in scoring with nine points and three rebounds.

Next, West Virginia will host Marist on Sunday.

No. 2 West Virginia (9-0) kept their undefeated season alive as the Mountaineers blew out Marist (5-3) this Saturday afternoon 91-64. The Red Foxes took an early eight-point lead over the Mountaineers, leading 12-4 at one point, but from there the Mountaineers went on a 13-2 run to take a three-point lead and never relented as they went on to put the game out of reach by the early portion of the second half against a quality Marist squad.

The Mountaineers forced Marist into 21 turnovers tonight as the Mountaineers forced the Red Foxes into a lot of mistakes on both sides of the court.

Small forward Deno Woodards led the Mountaineers with a team-high 16 points, four rebounds, and four steals. Fellow small forward Admondo Welchel came off the bench to add 14 points while Fred Joiner hit three three-pointers and ended with 13 points and three steals. Waitari Trammell paced the offense with 11 points, four assists, and five steals while O.J. Palmer had a solid game down low, totaling 10 points, six rebounds, and three blocks (career-high).

Freshman DeMarcus Frisby scored a game-high 20 points to lead the Red Foxes. Cheyne Burnette was the only other double-digit scorer for the Red Foxes as he added 11 points.

The Mountaineers have two days off before hosting Houston on Wednesday. The Cougars are currently undefeated with a 4-0 record, though their best win is only against a sub-.500 Oregon team.
