Marquette at #8 in the projected standings surprises me. They must've dropped off quite a bit? Also do 90+ overall players just not exist in this game? I don't understand how you can have a 5* recruit come in at 81 or 82 overall and not be at least 90 by their senior year

Would've loved to see a #1 WVU vs #4 Virginia matchup during non-conference play..

Interesting to see that Duquesne is staying among the nations best to start the year at least. They have sure turned into a power house.

That bench is just as killer as the starting lineup. Looks like your in store to have a very good season as usual. It's a shame that there's only one mid-major conference team in the top 25. But then again, with how your legacy has been going the Big Ten has started to turn into a mid-major and swapped out with the A-10

Marquette really fell off in OVR this year. I think they are only rated 83 OVR, which is pretty shocking. Looks like they just won't be very good this year. They had a lot of talent graduate.

90+ overall players exist, but not in much quantity. A 5* recruit will probably be a 90 OVR by his senior or maybe junior year, but not before then. I think Whelchel was the best-rated true freshman I have ever had (83 OVR).

I didn't really edit the non-conference schedule except to add switch a couple games so I played Virginia Tech and Marshall. I should have added Virginia or Boston College, as well, but oh well. Too late to change now!

Yeah, I don't think Duquesne is going anywhere. They seem to be here to stay as a major power program.

Yeah, the team looks really stacked this year. This is the best OVR team I have ever had (94 OVR to start the season, so either 95 OVR or 96 OVR by tournament time).

The A-10 has legitimately been a much superior conference to the Big Ten during the last decade in this legacy. It's strange how the Big Ten has fallen off, though the A-10 has stepped it up, too, with 4-6 teams making the NCAA Tournament regularly.

            November 10th, 2029

No. 1 West Virginia (1-0) got the season started off on the right foot this evening as they defeated Towson 71-46 in both teams' season-openers.

Towson (0-1) was outmatched from the start as the Mountaineers smothered them offensively and held them to just 20 first half points. West Virginia went on a run early in the second half to put the game away and would lead by as many as 30 points in the second half.

West Virginia preseason All-American power forward Nile Stevenson led all scorers with 21 points and six rebounds as the senior looked every bit the part. Fred Joiner added 14 points, three boards, four assists, and three steals while Deno Woodards chipped in 10 points and five rebounds on an efficient shooting performance.

Senior guard Sonny Conner led Towson in scoring with 16 points.

Next up for the Mountaineers is Penn State in Morgantown.

              November 15th, 2029

Top-ranked West Virginia sent Penn State packing with their first loss of the season as the Mountaineers (2-0) defeated the previously undefeated Nittany Lions (2-1) in a close one, 66-61.

The Mountaineers struggled shooting the basketball from three-point range, where they only went 4/17. Fortunately for them, the Nittany Lions gave up a lot of free points at the free throw line as they only made 15/24 from the charity stripe. Both teams were sloppy with the basketball as Penn State turned the basketball over 15 times while WVU did so on 14 occasions.

Nile Stevenson scored over 20 points for the second consecutive game as he led all scorers with 23 points and nine rebounds for the Mountaineers. Deno Woodards also performed well with 12 points, six rebounds, and four assists while Armondo Whelchel came off the bench to add 12 points.

Halston Challed led Penn State with 16 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Curt Voorhees also tallied 14 points and six rebounds.

Next, West Virginia head coach James Frizzell will get an opportunity to take on one of his old teams as the Mountaineers will host the San Francisco Dons in two days.

I guess I'm just too used to players improving +4 and +5 every year in NCAA 14

Started the season off right though, with a convincing win over Towson. Penn State gave you a little bit of a scare though

In this game, it really depends on their potential. Some players will improve much faster than others. Players also improve throughout the season oftentimes.

Penn State was rough. They were an 80 OVR, so they're not bad, but not very good, either...

One thing I should note is that player/team ratings go up in-game for whatever reason in CH 2K8.

West Virginia head coach James Frizzell won a game against his former team this evening as his top-ranked Mountaineers (3-0) edged San Francisco 84-69.

The Dons (4-2) trailed 34-22 with six minutes left in the first half, but stormed back to cut the lead to only a point at halftime, with the score in favor of the Mountaineers 38-37. The Mountaineers started off making eight of their first 12 three-point attempts, but went on a cold streak thereafter, missing their next six from downtown. WVU also tallied 12 assists as a team before they committed their first turnover.

Nevertheless, the Mountaineers were not to be denied tonight. WVU went on a run of their own after halftime to extend the lead to double-digits once again, and the Dons would never get closer than 10 points for the remainder of the game as West Virginia won by 15 points.

The Mountaineers were excellent at shooting the basketball tonight as they shot 52% from the field and made 14/27 (52%) from three-point range.

WVU center O.J. Palmer came into this game struggling to shoot the basketball. In the first two games of the season, the junior had only shot 4/15 from the floor. Tonight, his luck turned around, however, as he shot 8/10 from the floor and racked up a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Fellow low post mate Nile Stevenson also had a nice game with 14 points and seven rebounds. Deno Woodards tallied 13 points, four rebounds, and four assists while Predrag Gabler added 12 points and three rebounds.

The Mountaineers also got big contributions from their bench this evening. Sophomore shooting guard Matt Blanchard only saw the floor on rare occasions last season and had a career-high mark of three points. However, he got a chance to impress tonight with 10 minutes of playing time and impress he did, as he drained all three three-point attempts he took en route to a career mark of 11 points. Freshman point guard Theron Dux also stepped up nicely in the second half when starter Fred Joiner was mired in foul trouble (he would eventually foul out). Joiner was limited to 21 minutes of action, but Dux chipped in 22 minutes and though he did not score much, he was very efficient running the offense as he dished out seven assists on the evening.

Senior power forward Xavier Nava led San Francisco in scoring with 18 points and four rebounds. Freshman center Lou Mombollet totaled 13 points, seven rebounds, and four steals while Lenny O'Hara added 13 points and four assists.

Next, West Virginia hits the road for the first time this season as the Mountaineers will travel to Buffalo, NY to take on the Buffalo Bulls out of the MAC. The Bulls are currently 0-2 on the season and will be heavy underdogs when the No. 1 team in the land comes into town next Wednesday evening.

Top-ranked West Virginia (4-0) took care of business this evening against the winless Buffalo Bulls (0-3) on the road with a 70-52 victory. The Bulls got a rare chance to host the No. 1 team in the country and they held their own for much of the first half, leading by as many as nine points in the early going with the crowd roaring on their side. However, as the first half dragged on, the Mountaineers began to take control and the Mountaineers led 35-26 at the break. It was more of the same in the second half as the Mountaineers extended their lead into the 20s before head coach James Frizzell pulled the starters.

The Mountaineers forced Buffalo into 15 turnovers and converted those takeaways into turnovers early and often. Fred Joiner was a huge beneficiary as he was able to tally eight points off turnovers and ended with 12 points, seven rebounds, and four assists overall. West Virginia's only other double-figure scorer was O.J. Palmer, who had 14 points and six rebounds.

The Bulls played well defensively as the Mountaineers only shot 40% from the field and 4/16 from three-point range. However, the Mountaineers managed to grab several offensive rebounds to convert into points.

A.C. Lopez was Buffalo's leading scorer as he tallied a game-high 18 points and also grabbed four rebounds. Carlos Dooley had an impressive 10-point, eight-rebound performance while senior guard Pearce Hinrich also scored 10 points.

West Virginia has one week off before hitting the road take take on struggling 1-5 Drexel next Wednesday.

Wow you guy's really lit it up from downtown against USF, what changed from the prior 2 games and the game after where it seems like your have been like 4/15.

On a side note, looks like Houston and Charlotte are off to hot starts. Will be interesting to see how long they can keep it up and how about Louisville already looking forward to that matchup.

Oh by the way had to give a shout out to Coach Frizzell in my legacy. West Virginia made the tourney as the #1 seed in the Midwest and made it to the Elite 8 before losing to #7 Cal after leading the 1st half (83-77).

I didn't really change much up. We just hit shots for whatever reason. IIRC, USF threw more zone at us, too, which gave us more open threes than usual.

Oh by the way had to give a shout out to Coach Frizzell in my legacy. West Virginia made the tourney as the #1 seed in the Midwest and made it to the Elite 8 before losing to #7 Cal after leading the 1st half (83-77).
Nice! I am still catching up!

No. 1 West Virginia (5-0) turned in its most impressive performance of the season this evening in Philadelphia as the Mountaineers pummeled Drexel 93-45.

The Dragons (1-6) have struggled mightily this season and found themselves down big in this one from the start. The Mountaineers never trailed and doubled Drexel's score at halftime, 42-21. The Mountaineers only extended their lead in the second half as they put up an impressive 93 points tonight, besting their previous season-high of 84 points versus San Francisco on November 17th.

West Virginia shot 55% from the floor and 6/12 (50%) from three-point range. They also shot 15/16 (94%) from the free-throw line and outrebounded Drexel 44-23.

Nile Stevenson was West Virginia's leading performer as he shot 10/15 from the field en route to 20 points and seven rebounds. Armondo Whelchel also was impressive from off the bench as he shot 8/11 overall and 2/2 from three-point range to score a career-high 21 points and tally five boards in just 17 minutes of playing time. Matt Blanchard and Fred Joiner also scored 11 points apiece.

Drexel's leading scorer was sophomore center Andry Knox, who totaled eight points and seven rebounds.

In their next game, West Virginia will kick off the month of December by hosting undefeated Niagara.
