Oh man, what a bummer. I agree with southernmetalhead about rooting for Duquesne now.

Tough break. But considering you made several Final Four appearances this is far from the worst thing that could have happened. At least you were able to outlast the rest of the Big East who all crashed and burned in the second round (ouch!). I wanna see the Duquesne Dukes be the 2028-29 National Champions.

Yes, it is, unfortunately. I really shouldn't have lost that one, but it is what it is.

Yeah, it was disappointing not to make a Final Four since this is as good of a team as I've ever had, but oh well. I hate to get knocked out of the tournament by a team that is rated 6 OVR points lower than me, though.

It's good that you have the Defensive Player of the Year returning and he put up decent points. What kind of offense do you run? 82 PPG is crazy! And the defense really came through allowing only 63. Talk about efficiency!

I am curious if you go all in after the #1 player in the country or do you pretty much just stick to recruiting your region? Seems like with your resume and past success in the NCAA tournament even west coast guy's should have West Virginia on their Top-5 or at least Top-10.

I am also confused how is the National Defensive Player of the Year not a 2k Sports Award winner? What does it take to get it.

In all my years of playing this game and even with multiple National Title's in a row, I can't remember ever having earned that attribute or the National POY.

Oh more question's. Has NC State ever came up in the coaching carousel and would you ever consider leaving WVU for it? How many more years do you see yourself staying at WVU (800 wins or 900?) and do you think you will leave for a struggling power conference team or maybe go back and build up a non-traditional mid-major into a power program?

Final Four with no 1# seeds? That's different. Who do you plan on having replace Trammel with him being the only true point guard on the roster? Going to convert a SG or is there a stud freshman coming in that you're going to throw right into the starting rotation?

Yeah, you just never know. You can have a really dominant team, but when it's not your night, it's not your night.

Yeah, Palmer was surprisingly effective this year (the guy nearly has Shaq-size at 7-foot, 290 lbs.). I was kind of iffy moving him into the starting lineup, but it went about as well as I could have hoped for. He arguably played better than Nile Stevenson, who was supposed to be my "star".

I use the Princeton playbook, though I tend to run it pretty fast. I've also changed some sliders recently in order to try to slow down the pace some as some of the scores were getting out of hand. You might have noticed that the conference tournament and NCAA tournament games were a bit lower-scoring and that will be what I roll with going forward into next season.

Side note: Updated sliders/house rules have been posted in the first post. One thing I will add that I have been doing, but have not mentioned before is that I only play as one player on defense and do not switch mid-possession. I alternate position with each position. Thus, one possession #1, I will play as PG, then possession #2 as SG, possession #3 as SF, possession #4 as PF, possession #5 as C, possession #6 as PG, etc....

I also moved the CPU's drive tendency back up to 100 so they were a little more aggressive driving to the hoop (they might have been a little passive at 60).

I usually go for the highest-rated guys that have me in their top 3 or 5. I have never actually gone after the #1 player of the country until this year. Unfortunately, after having the early lead, I was edged out. He was a shooting guard and I think the glut of players I have at SG is probably what swayed him away. Not to worry, though; it's a decent class for what scholarships I had available.

I will recruit from everywhere. I don't have any house rules there nor do I think I really need to (I've only hauled in the #1 class once and I think it is realistic that a team with my team's success would roll in consistent top 10-20 classes each season). It wasn't until recently that I really started to consistently roll in 5* recruits.

I think the 2K Sports Award is basically just a different version of the National POY. I have noticed that it is almost always rewarded to a PF or C in the game and usually he averages 20+ PPG and 10+ RPG. That's going to be tough for me to get. I don't think I've ever had a player average over 18 PPG in a season, even with some of my higher-scoring teams. I tend to spread the ball around a lot and it's not as if I have one player that is clearly better than the rest (Nile Stevenson was probably my best player this past season, but it's not like he was clearly better).

NC State opened up maybe 3-5 seasons ago, IIRC (Sidney Lowe retired... hahaha). I gave some thought to it, but ultimately didn't leave. I think if I were to leave now, I would go to a mid-major school. I actually gave some thought to taking the Manhattan job this coming offseason as it was open (always liked the Jaspers since I played with them a lot in ESPN College Hoops 2K4), but I ultimately passed on it (though, if you guys really wanted me to, I could take it as I was really split on the decision as it were).

I very well may leave sometime, but it's really hard to say. I have given some thought to maybe taking the UNC Greensboro job if it ever opens up (where I eventually graduated with my B.S. and am currently in the M.A. Econ program), but I'm just not sure if I would go back down to a small-conference team or not.

NOTE: BTW, I am still working on catching up with your legacy. I'll be there soon!

Well, you can always put in as much time as needed. My updates were pretty short early on, too. I don't think one should put in more time than they want to as it only results in burn-out when you try to keep up with the ones that use heavy photo-editing, etc. (I commend those that do, but I just don't have the stomach for spending that much time on it, personally. ). That being said, enjoy the game, regardless.

It might take a little getting used to if you have played NBA 2K14 or whatever (and I have), but I don't find the transition too hard.

Joiner is technically a PG even though I started him at SG this year, so he will likely get the starting job unless the PG I am bringing in is really, really good. Gabler will probably get the nod at starting SG.

                              #2729
                              2029 Recruiting Class

West Virginia's James Frizzell has wrapped up to the 2029 recruiting class at West Virginia as 5'9" point guard Theron Dux signed with the Mountaineers to fill their second open scholarship position of the offseason.

Theron Dux hails from Spokane, WA and is the #3-ranked point guard of the 2029 class, and, more impressively, the #4-ranked overall recruit. Dux is a crafty point guard with good skills and a decent stroke. What he lacks in height (he is 5'9") he makes up with excellent ball-handling, passing ability, and court vision. Dux will likely battle Fred Joiner and Predrag Gabler for a starting position in the backcourt from day one and will almost assuredly see significant playing time.

West Virginia's other recruit for the 2029 class is Willie Gomes. Gomes hails from Lincoln, NE and is the #7 overall recruit and the #1-ranked power forward in this year's class. Gomes is an intelligent player with good size (6'10"). He isn't a spectacular shooter, but he was a stellar defender in high school and is a solid rebounder. He could see time at center depending on how things develop. The Mountaineers are loaded at power forward and center this coming season, so it is possible that Gomes might be redshirted depending on how he plays in pre-season practice.

Even with only two scholarships available, the Mountaineers' 2029 class ranks #10 in the country and #2 in the Big East. Georgia Tech hauls in this year's #1 overall class while DePaul surprisingly leads the Big East this season with the #8 overall class. For West Virginia, this year's class was a small one with only two open scholarships, but what it lacked in quantity it made up for in quality with two All-Americans and two Mr. Basketballs of their home states (Washington and Nebraska).

                              Signed Recruits:
                              1. Theron Dux 5'9 177 (Spokane, WA - #4 overall, #3 PG) 5* - All-American, Mr. Basketball
                              2. Willie Gomes 6'10 219 (Lincoln, NE - #7 overall, #1 PF) 5* - All-American, Mr. Basketball
