Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Yeah, I don't think we're overlooking them considering they already beat us earlier this season, but they'll be a tough matchup, no matter what. They've been hot lately and trashed Seton Hall and DePaul.Comment

vs.
(2) Connecticut (28-6) vs. (1) West Virginia (30-3)
Madison Square Garden
New York, NY
March 10th, 2029
Big East Tournament Title Game
For the second time this year the Connecticut Huskies (28-6) have defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers (30-3). The Huskies had been hot all tournament long, defeating the Seton Hall Pirates 98-68 in the quarterfinals and the DePaul Blue Demons 97-60 in the semifinals. Tonight, they were involved in a nick-and-tuck, back-and-forth game with top-seeded West Virginia, but in the final minutes the second-seeded Huskies pulled ahead and grabbed a double-digit lead in the final minute to defeat West Virginia 76-64.
The game was a real mess for both teams with 35 turnovers collectively (18 for Connecticut and 17 for WVU). Connecticut's real advantage came at the free throw line, where they shot 26-for-31 compared to the Mountaineers' 10-for-13. The Huskies got into the bonus early in the second half and the Mountaineers racked up 15 team fouls by the end of the half as they could not seem to start hacking.
"It hurts to let one get away like this," remarked West Virginia head coach James Frizzell. "It's rough and you never want to enter the NCAA Tournament on a losing note. Nevertheless, we got bounced in the conference tournament last year and we picked ourselves up and went on a tear in the Big Dance, so I have faith in this team to right ourselves.
"The fact that we did ourselves in with undisciplined play makes it more difficult, although more correctable, as well. You simply can't frequently turnover the basketball and allow your opponent to visit the charity stripe 31 times if you expect to win ball games."
Maris Archibald was lethal from beyond the arc, where he shot five-for-six, as he scored a game-high 21 points and also grabbed four rebounds and collected four steals for the Connecticut Huskies. However, he also struggled in epic fashion at possessing the basketball as he turned the ball over a startling nine times (a career-high). Ralfeal Horton made a living from the free throw line, shooting 11-for-12 from the line, as he ended with 19 points, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals. Point guard Nate Li also played well as he tallied 14 points and seven assists.
Deno Woodards and Fred Joiner led WVU in scoring as Woodards tallied 13 points, seven rebounds, and two blocks while Joiner added 13 points, four rebounds, four assists, and five steals (a career-high). Nile Stevenson struggled rebounding the basketball as he only collected three rebounds in addition to 12 points while fellow big man O.J. Palmer tallied 11 points, eight boards, and two blocks.
With the win, Connecticut claims the Big East Tournament Title. The Mountaineers fail to secure the Big East Tournament Title for the second straight season, despite winning the regular season conference title for four years running and amassing a conference regular season record of 34-2 over the last two seasons collectively.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
I'm glad to see UConn winning. In any legacy I've done they are always hovering around .500 and can't seem to put it together in the Big East. Sorry for your loss, but I have a soft spot for those Huskies!
EDIT: I JUST saw them for the first time as a top 25 team in my legacy! LOLLast edited by pfeifere1; 04-04-2015, 09:49 AM.Comment

Duke has been good in recent years in this legacy, but they are terrible this year (sub-.500). They might fire their coach this offseason. Looking ahead to this offseason, it is possible that the Duke and UNC jobs will be open, actually.
Yeah, I wouldn't want that!Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
In fact, here is how they've fared in recent years:
2028-2029: TBD (#1 seed)
2027-2028: Elite Eight (#3 seed)
2026-2027: Sweet Sixteen (#2 seed)
2025-2026: Elite Eight (#3 seed)
2024-2025: Sweet Sixteen (#9 seed)
2023-2024: Final Four (#9 seed)
2022-2023: Sweet Sixteen (#3 seed)
2021-2022: Second Round (#4 seed)
2020-2021: Second Round (#6 seed)
2019-2020: Second Round (#1 seed)
2018-2019: Missed Tournament
I didn't realize they had been that successful myself. 10 consecutive NCAA Tournaments with six (seven, pending this year) consecutive Sweet Sixteens and three Elite Eights in that span, along with a Final Four appearance. They struggled to make themselves felt in the tournament the first three times they made it, but ever since they've taken care of business as well, if not better, than anyone in the country.
Yeah, it was a rough shooting night.Last edited by superjames1992; 04-04-2015, 06:08 PM.Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Tough loss to UConn. Balanced attack from your guys, but between the turnovers and the weak scoring effort from the bench I can't say I'm surprised you lost. But like you said, at least it's something that's correctable. Good luck in the tournament. I'll be sure to post my picks, albeit I know they're going to be terrible lol.My Dynasties
