Of course I just got spanked by Georgia 101-64. But were not going to talk about that lol
Yeah, it was crazy to see such a huge turnaround like that. We went from shooting terribly to not being able to miss while Georgia suddenly couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. I didn't really change anything up aside from having Whelchel come into the lineup. Things just started to click for whatever reason.

Yeah, I figured so. Usually, my leading scorer is in the 14-15 PPG range. I think the most PPG in a season I have ever had was ~18-19 PPG by Kyle Koncz back in my first year at Princeton.

Maybe eventually I'll bring along someone that I really feel like should take over a game, but I've never really felt that way and I've had a lot of great players come through. Whelchel seems like he could be a 20 PPG-type guy when he starts next year, but I doubt it'll happen. I spread the ball around too much.

I could definitely force-feed Stevenson, Whelchel, Woodards, or Joiner and make them 20 PPG scorers this season, but that would only hurt the team.

EDIT: Koncz had 18.6 PPG on 46% from the field and 45% from 3PT:

EDIT #2: I was incorrect. Wendell Lalugba averaged 19.5 PPG in his freshman season (never more than 16.1 PPG over his final three years as I got more talent on the team and he didn't have to carry the load as much):

          vs.
          Jacksonville (2-7) vs. #1 West Virginia (9-0)
          WVU Coliseum
          Morgantown, WV
          December 9th, 2029

West Virginia forced Jacksonville (2-7) into 24 turnovers this evening as the top-ranked Mountaineers (9-0) routed the Dolphins 76-49.

The Mountaineers also held Jacksonville to 36% shooting and 1/7 from three-point range. One key area where the Dolphins did have a surprising advantage was on the glass, where the Mountaineers were outrebounded 30-23, but this was as much to do with the Mountaineers' +17 turnover margin as anything.

Nile Stevenson led all scorers as he totaled 17 points, five rebounds, three steals, and three blocks to lead the Mountaineers. Pregrag Gabler shot an efficient 7/8 from the field en route to 15 points and four steals while Deno Woodards added 10 points and five steals. O.J. Palmer added 14 points while Armondo Whelchel had yet another nice outing with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Gerardo Davisson led Jacksonville with 13 points and three rebounds. Cordero Yeager also added 11 points and five boards while Shema Goss chipped in 12 points and four rebounds.

Next up for West Virginia is a huge matchup with rival No. 13 Virginia Tech in Morgantown.

              Cassell Coliseum
              Blacksburg, VA
              December 15th, 2029

Walter Andrews had a chance to tie it on No. 13 Virginia Tech's final possession of the game, but his three-pointer clanked off the iron and the Mountaineers (10-0) escaped Blacksburg with a win over their rivals 68-63.

The Mountaineers led 30-26 at halftime, but opened up a 52-44 advantage after an 8-0 run at the 7:34 mark in the second half. However, the Hokies (7-2) battled back and took the lead back at the 4:11 mark with the advantage 56-55 in Virginia Tech's favor. Virginia Tech extended its lead to 61-57 with two minutes remaining. Down two points with 1:06 left, Deno Woodards made the play of the game as he slashed through the Hokies' defense and sank a layup and an and-one to put the Mountaineers up 64-63. It would be the last time Virginia Tech would lead. Nile Stevenson hit a pair of free throws from the charity stripe with 25 seconds left to hand the Mountaineers a 66-63 lead and Andrews missed the aforementioned three-pointer on the ensuing possession. Armondo Whelchel caught the in-bounds pass after the ball went out of bounds off the rim and hit both free throws to ice the game, giving the Mountaineers their 10th win of their year in as many tries and handing Virginia Tech their second loss of the season (their first loss was at Auburn).

Nile Stevenson led WVU with 19 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and three blocks. O.J. Palmer was the only other double-digit scorer for West Virginia as he tallied 13 points and eight rebounds.

Despite missing his final shot attempt, Virginia Tech's senior guard Walter Andrews still had a decent outing as he racked up 22 points on the night. He wasn't efficient shooting the basketball tonight (6/18 FG), but he was efficient at the foul line, where he shot 9/10. In addition, Torin Lovelace tallied 10 points and three rebounds for the Hokies while Pervis Pait also scored 10 points from off the bench.

West Virginia did not shoot well on their jump shots as they only made 3/14 (21%) from three-point range, but they did well enough around the basket and limited their mistakes. The Mountaineers only turned the basketball over five times tonight, which is a season-low. They also excelled from the free throw stripe, shooting 19/22 (86%) from the line.

Next up for the Mountaineers is a road game in Birmingham, AL against the UAB Blazers out of Conference USA in a rematch of last year's NCAA Tournament 2nd Round Game.

                    Congrats on the 10-0 start..

I think next season you need to make sure and get Virginia on the the non-conference schedule, obviously they didn't hire T. Bennett in your legacy being how you started back in 07, but whoever they did hire they did a good job of turning the program around.

Yeah, I will have to try to remember to do that. I am not sure who UVA's coach is off the top of my head, but I will check next time I fire up the game (probably tonight).

Glad you beat Jacksonville. I have it in for them now that they have beaten me 3 times in my Kennesaw State legacy.

Yeah, they seem to be a real thorn in your side, quite like Marquette with me!

Always gotta get those nemesis teams!

On a side note, I just looked at Marquette's roster and it's pretty clear why they're struggling this year. 4/5 starters are freshmen and they only have one senior and one junior on the roster. They have:

                              Seniors: 1
                              Juniors: 1
                              Sophomores: 5
                              Freshmen: 5
