      #10 Virginia Tech (8-2) vs. #2 West Virginia (9-0)
      WVU Coliseum
      Morgantown, WV
      December 11th, 2033

No. 2 West Virginia rolled to a dominating 97-71 victory over No. 10 Virginia Tech in this season's clash of titans. The Hokies defeated West Virginia in last year's regular season matchup, but the Mountaineers got their revenge with today's awesome performance.

Skip Bradford scored a season-high 27 points to go along with seven rebounds and a career-high four blocks to lead the Mountaineers (9-0) in scoring. Nik Buscher added 20 points and nine rebounds as the Mountaineers used their size to bully the Hokies in the paint. Myron DeLeon added 14 points and Ije Przybyszewski managed the offense with 11 points and eight assists.

The Mountaineers got off to a fast start and led by 16 points at halftime. The Hokies (8-2) never closed to within striking distance in the second half.

The Mountaineers shot 53% (40/76) from the field and outrebounded the Hokies 36-26. They also won the turnover battle 14-6, something the Mountaineers have done often this year. West Virginia tallied seven blocks as a team, and are now averaging 6.4 blocks per game through nine games this season, second in the NCAA behind Florida State (7.1).

West Virginia's 92.3 points per game is also second in the NCAA behind Wake Forest (92.9).

Deangelo Little led Virginia Tech in scoring with 18 points and five rebounds from off the bench. Shannon Lampley and Bennie Dennehy each scored 10 points and Darren Garza added 11 points for the Hokies.

"It's great for us to win this rivalry game, and to avenge our loss in Blacksburg last season makes it even sweeter," exclaimed an elated West Virginia head coach James Frizzell after the game.

West Virginia has six days off before hosting Frizzell's old team, the San Francisco Dons, on December 17th. Afterwards, the Mountaineers have a break for the Christmas season before hosting No. 8 Illinois on December 26th in what should figure to be an excellent early-season matchup. Two days later, on December 29th, the Mountaineers will host Villanova to kick off Big East Conference play.

Tonight's victory gives Frizzell 749 career wins. He will go for No. 750 against San Francisco next week.

Looks like the Pac-10 is going to be tough this year, 3 current Top-10, and 5 in the Top 25, they are giving the Big East and ACC a run for the #1 power conference. The A-10 also looks to be stacked at this point too.

Nice start to the season, I won’t say anything but this team really has a chance to go the distance in the postseason. You’re doing a great job man Keep it up!

Yeah, the Pac-10 looks pretty good with no sub-.500 teams. They're still probably behind the ACC, which looks dominant as usual, but they're having a good year. The A-10 looks good, too. The Big East has a couple good teams at the top (WVU and UConn), but it's a pretty big dropoff after that and the bottom of the league (DePaul, etc.) is garbage, unfortunately.

Don't worry about saying anything because I've already said it myself, haha. Anything less than a National Title this season would frankly be a failure.

No. 2 West Virginia (10-0) picked up win No. 10 of the season with an 83-59 victory over the San Francisco Dons (5-8) this evening in Morgantown.

The Dons, West Virginia head coach James Frizzell's old team, put up a strong fight and kept it neck-and-neck in the first half as the Mountaineers struggled to a 27-24 halftime lead. However, things turned around in the second half as West Virginia finally started to hit open shots on the offensive end as they scored 56 points and outscored the Dons by 21 points in the final 20 minutes of action.

Nik Buscher scored 18 points and added nine rebounds and four blocks to lead the Mountaineers in all three categories. Myron DeLeon added 13 points and Skip Bradford totaled 12 points and six rebounds. Felipe Delgado also scored 10 points and grabbed four boards from off the bench.

Sean Granger, Joshua Curry, and Frane Farrell each scored 12 points for San Francisco. Farrell also blocked four shots.

The Mountaineers held San Francisco to just 37% (19/51) from the floor and held a 38-20 advantage on the glass.

Tonight's win gives West Virginia head coach James Frizzell 750 career victories. He holds a career record of 750-195 after tonight's win and has won three national championships, all at West Virginia.

West Virginia has eight days off before hosting No. 7 Illinois on December 26th.

How is this team not number one yet?

We really should be, but I don’t think the game is going to slot us in above Texas unless they lose, and they don’t seem to be in any danger of doing in the immediate future given their upcoming schedule and how they’ve also dominated their competition.

Illinois lost their last game, so they may drop into the teens in next week’s rankings when we play them, but they’re a good team, regardless.

Thanks! We'll see if we can keep it up all year. Every now and then we have a poor shooting half where we look vulnerable, but for the most part these games haven't been close so far this year.
