    Evansville (0-1) vs. #2 West Virginia (1-0)
    WVU Colseium
    Morgantown, WV
    November 7th, 2033

Shannon Edwards scored 26 points and hauled in 13 rebounds to lead No. 2 West Virginia to a season-opening win at home against Evansville.

The Purple Aces (0-1) trailed 48-27 at halftime, but stormed back with a 17-4 run of their own to cut the WVU lead to 52-43 midway through the second half as the Mountaineers (1-0) couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. However, the Mountaineers righted the ship and extended the lead once again and cruised to their 18-point victory.

The Mountaineers played well defensively and outrebounded Evansville 41-28, but struggled shooting the ball as they only shot 39% (25/64) from the floor. However, they got to the foul line early and often and converted their free throws at an impressive 92% rate (22/24).

Freshman Nik Buscher scored 15 points and grabbed eight rebounds in his first career game as a Mountaineer. He struggled shooting the ball (3/9 from the field), but was effective at getting to the line and converting his opportunities there as he shot 9/9 from the charity stripe. Myron DeLeon also added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Vince Neale scored 16 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead the Purple Aces.Freshman Koro Ogunoye also scored 16 points and grabbed five boards and Ronald Archibald and Bennet Winter scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.

Next, West Virginia will take on St. Francis (NY) in the opening round of the Paradise Jam in St. Petersburg, FL.

Did you take a nap during the 2nd half, or did they just make a good adjustment to your play style. 15/8 with 2 blks for Busher's debut not to bad

I think it was more of the former. We got up big and coasted.

And Buscher looks great! He's such a dominant physical force.

No. 2 West Virginia (2-0) opened up the Paradise Jam Tournament this evening with a 102-60 thrashing of St. Francis (NY) to advance to the tournament semifinals tomorrow evening.

Shannon Edwards scored 21 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Mountaineers in both categories on this Veteran's Day. Nik Buscher added 19 points, five rebounds, and three blocks and Felipe Delgado scored 10 points. Ije Przybyszewski also scored 13 points.

Sherman Humprhies led the Terriers (0-2) in scoring with 15 points, four rebounds, and four assists. W.M. Palmer added 10 points and four rebounds and sophomore center Aly Powers came close to a double-double with 12 points and eight boards.

The Mountaineers's length on defense was evident tonight as they blocked 10 shots. They also were very efficient from the field, shooting 55% (37/67) from the field and 90% (18/20) from the free throw line.

West Virginia will get their first real test of the season tomorrow evening against Texas Tech, who sneaked by Evansville 79-78 to advance to the semifinal round.

Lol MUST BE NICE! I just went 0-9 from the free throw line in a recent game. Good luck against Texas Tech. Do they have any players you have to watch out for?

Yeah, I saw that. Ouch! I use Real FT % and we generally seem to shoot well, especially so far this year. That's definitely an advantage we generally more have on our opponents.

I am not sure about Texas Tech. I'll look before I play the game if I think about it.

Texas Tech is strong at point guard, shooting guard, and power forward, but is very weak at center (and they're small there), so I think we can take advatnage of them and bully them down low.

Nik Buscher scored 22 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to lead No. 2 West Virginia to an 83-57 victory over Texas Tech this evening in the Paradise Jam Semifinals.

The Mountaineers (3-0) struggled shooting the ball early and trailed for most of the first half, but finished the half on a 6-0 run to take a 31-29 lead at the break. It was all West Virginia in the second half, however, as the Mountaineers erupted offensively and continued to play strong defense, outscoring the Red Raiders 52-28 in the final half.

Shannon Edwards tallied 12 points, seven rebounds, and four blocks for West Virginia and Ije Przybyszewski paced the offense with 12 points, five assists, and four steals.

Senior guard Andy Greer led Texas Tech (2-1) with 17 points and four assists. Elliot Benjamin tallied 10 points, seven assists, and four steals while Niemer O'Donnell added 13 points.

After blocking 10 shots last week, the Mountaineers blocked 8 this week. They are averaging 7.3 blocks per game so far this season.

West Virginia outrebounded Texas Tech 46-28. Both teams were careless with the basketball as the Mountaineers turned the ball over 16 times and the Red Raiders did so 18 times.

"We need to clean up our play some, but that was an excellent second half and really shows what this team is capable of," explained West Virginia head coach James Frizzell.

West Virginia will face off against No. 8 NC State on Monday evening for the Paradise Jam Tournament Title. The Wolfpack defeated No. 19 Duquesne 62-59 in the quarterfinals and Loyola (IL) 87-65 in the semifinals to advance to the title game.
