I'm very excited about the guys coming back. I really expected to see several more guys declare for the draft this year, so to only see Weaver leave was huge. This team is going to be really, really good next year.

Tough loss but a great run for West Virginia following a somewhat disappointing season. Some great careers numbers for Coach Frizzell, hasn't coached lower than a 2 seed in eight seasons with six Final Four appearances. Good luck next season, hopefully those 3pt %'s go up

Thanks. I feel like our Final Four performances have left some to be desired recently. I would have liked to have won the national title more than twice given six Final Four chances, especially considering that we were the favorites in most of those, although I guess that's still slightly better than even chances considering there are four teams in each tournament (25% win probability, without considering quality of teams, etc.).

I really felt like I had the best team left by the time we made it to the Final Four, but it is what it is. Kansas State dominated us and we couldn't shoot at all.

              2033 Recruiting Class

The good news continued to pour into Morgantown after an offseason that saw the Mountaineers lose only one player to the draft (Monwell Weaver) as the Mountaineers signed a fantastic pair of recruits to this year's class. It was an offseason that easily could have seen 3-4 Mountaineers declare for the NBA Draft, but instead Weaver was the only Mountaineer to do so. The Mountaineers bring back a stacked team that should be the overwhelming favorite to win the National Title in 2034.

The top recruit of this class for WVU is Felipe Delgado, who comes in as the No. 2-ranked small forward, and the No. 13 player overall in this year's signing class. Delgado is a formidable physical specimen at 6'8" and 208 pounds. He is extremely athletic and, though he is a good shooter, his real strength comes around the basket where he is able to use his adept length and athleticism to finish through contact. Delgado hails from Seattle, WA, where he was Mr. Basketball for the state of Washington. He is also a High School All-American, and comes off an impressive 24-point performance in this year's High School All-American Game.

Joining Delgado is another fantastic signing in Nik Buscher, the nation's No. 2 center. Buscher is ranked No. 74 overall and stands at 7'1", 260 pounds. He fits the mold of a lot of West Virginia's recent fantastic centers, such as Willie Gomes. Buscher's height allows him to be dominant on the boards and he is also an excellent finisher around the rim. Despite his size, he is very athletic for his position and has thrown down some eye-dropping dunks during his time in high school and AAU. He's also an impressive passer, which will make it tough for opponents to double-team him.

This year's signing class is ranked No. 50 (5th in the Big East) nationally due to its size, but it was a quality over quantity class for West Virginia head coach James Frizzell. "I love what we have here," beamed Frizzell about his two recruits. Both are great kids and as impressive of physical talents as I have ever coached. It's going to be an exciting few years with them under my tutelage."

              Signed Recruits:
              1. Felipe Delgado 6'8 208 (Seattle, WA - #13 overall, #2 SF) 5* All-American, Mr. Basketball
              2. Nik Buscher 7'1 260 (Dallas, TX - #74 overall, #2 C) 4*

Still amazing to see this going. Tough break, but there are alot of schools and coaches that would be pretty happy to have 6 Final 4 appearances and 2 chips in 8 years.

Maybe having a dominant 7 ft down low is the missing piece.

Seeing you still rolling along makes me miss this even more. I recently bought my wife a used Xbox one, so she could have a dedicated server for a game called Ark, and it came with a copy of NBA 2k17, so I started up a expansion team and brought back the Sonics to get me basketball fix, but feel like I need to break out the 360 and roll with college hoops now..

As always mad props for keeping this going.

As you've gotten better and better, are there less good recruits in the Northeast Region? I ask because you have a roster of guys from all over the country which is cool to see but just makes me curious if your recruiting plan has any guidelines other than the people who show the most interest (I remember from the early years of 2K8 where I was coaching a small school, you really don't have a choice lol).

Good luck this season, I like the roster - mainly the solid bench in Pocius, Delgado, Edwards, and Havens. Going to be a tough season too, I would even go as far as to say that any team you lose to ranked in the Top 7 of the Big East Preseason Rankings wouldn't be an upset in my eyes (within 10 OVR of WVU).

I'm gonna predict 24-6 (13-5) heading into the Big East Tournament.

I am really excited about Buscher. His size at 7'2" for a true freshman is pretty insane and he's going to really anchor our defense down low in a way we just didn't have last season. Plus, his offense looks pretty solid, too, and his rebounding with his size should be very impressive.

I also got NBA 2K17 last year and, while it was a good game, I just couldn't get into the Associate mode. That's not a knock on the mode as it is well done, but I have always had a hard time getting into playing NBA franchises (same as with MLB and NHL ones) because of how long the season is. While I know you can play abbreviated seasons, this has never felt right to me for whatever reason. And by the time you get through a full-length season, the next year's game is basically out.

I like the length of the college season. ~30 games plus the postseason gives it some time for ups and downs without it dragging out to excessive lengths.

I tend to go for the best available fitting the skill sets I like among those who have been in their top 3-5 schools at the beginning of their senior season. I almost never pursue anyone outside of that range because I just think it's a waste of time usually and I have plenty of good players that have me in their top 3-5, anyways.

I don't really focus on region as I have plenty of recruiting points to spread around. I suppose that if I have to chose between two identical recruits, I'd chose the closer one, but this usually doesn't happen much.

I've never enacted any special recruiting house rules in this legacy as I have generally felt I got fairly realistic recruiting results, all things considered. Considering how much success WVU has had while I have been here, I don't think pulling in the classes I have had is too excessive, and my team's OVR rating generally hasn't been too high (though this season we have a nice leg up on the competition).

I don't put a ton of effort into scouting and recruiting in general, though, so if I really tried to game the system more I may need to enact house rules, but this hasn't been an issues as of yet.

I am hoping we can do better than 24-6, but we'll see! I really like this team this year. We bring back basically everyone from last year's campaign (minus Monwell Weaver, who was frankly replaceable, especially with Packevicius coming back for his senior season), and add a dominant 7'2" center that shores up what was a shaky defense (Buscher) and a nice, long wing that should also shore up the defense some (Delgado). I think we should be better than last season and I think this could be one of the best teams I have ever had. Of course, I have thought that before and things didn't go quite as smoothly as I had hoped, but the recruits I have brought in really shored up what I thought were our weaknesses last season, so I am excited.

Next year could be rough, though. I am going to lose a ton of guys to graduation and/or the draft. I better win it all this year while the going's good!

2033-2034 West Virginia Individual Player Preview

                            Starters:

PG #4 Ije Przybyszewski 5'11 185 (Jacksonville, FL) 89 overall JR

Ije Przybyszewski returns for his junior season, and his second as starting point guard for the Mountaineers. Przybyszewski had a good, but not great, season last year and will look to build off of that. He struggled shooting from beyond the arc (31.5%), so that will be something he will be looking to improve this season as head coach James Frizzell's offense tends to prioritize good-shooting point guards, particularly from deep.

SG #34 Dedrick Packevicius 6'5 234 (Birmingham, AL) 88 overall SR

Senior shooting guard Dedrick Packevicius will get his first career start in the season-opener against Evansville. Packevicius had a very productive season last year from off the bench sharing minutes at shooting guard with Monwell Weaver, but now that Weaver has declared for the NBA Draft, Packevicius will get his chance to be the man. He has good size for his position and is very effective when attacking the basket. He's also a solid shooter.

SF #31 Myron DeLeon 6'8 232 (Memphis, TN) 88 overall SR

Myron DeLeon is a four-year starter and comes back after having his best season of his career last year, when he scored a team-high 16.4 points per game. DeLeon has a quick shot release and is a good shooter. He also is an underrated slasher. It wouldn't be a surprise to see DeLeon lead the Mountaineers in scoring again this season.

PF #30 Skip Bradford 6'9 227 (Chicago, IL) 90 overall JR

Skip Bradford returns for his junior season after an effective sophomore campaign that saw him finish second on the team in scoring and first in rebounding with 13.3 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Bradford was the No. 1 recruit out of high school and has been effective in his career at WVU, but hasn't lived quite up to the lofty expectations heaved on him. He is a good shooter and is very athletic for his position, but his lack of size is detrimental in this offense.

                            C #55 Nik Buscher 7'2 273 (Dallas, TX) 80 overall FR

True freshman Nik Buscher will get the nod at center, at least to start the center. Buscher is this class' No. 2 center and his size at 7'2" is perfect for the offense that Frizzell likes to run in Morgantown. Buscher is a dominating force on the glass and he should be able to use his size to bully smaller defenders. Additionally, his size and length will be very advantageous when on defense as he should be able to go a long way towards shutting down the paint for West Virginia's opponents.

                            Bench:

PG #22 Eliz Pocius 6'2 185 (Austin, TX) 82 overall SO

Eliz Pocius struggled in his first season in Morgantown and eventually found himself out of the rotation as the season progressed, but he will be tasked with being the primary backup point guard this season with Monwell Weaver's graduation. Pocius will need to play better this season, and he certainly has the talent to do so.

SG #21 Tommie Blackshear 6'5 202 (Corpus Christi, TX) 79 overall SO

Tommie Blackshear saw little action in his first season in Morgantown and that likely won't change too much this season. He is a bit of a jack of all trades, and a master of none. He has good finishing ability around the basket, but he had a lot of trouble getting opportunities around the bucket in his first season as a Mountaineer.

SG #24 Boakai Clement 6'4 215 (Nashau, NH) 77 overall SO

Boakai Clement returns as a redshirt sophomore. He saw little playing time last season and that likely won't change much this season. He isn't a bad player, but he's not particularly good in any area.

SG #24 Boakai Clement 6'3 209 (Nashau, NH) 71 overall FR

Boakai Clement is a redshirt freshman out of Nashau, NH. Clement excels at rebounding for his position and is a solid shooter. However, he is generally unspectacular in most areas and will likely struggle to see much playing time this season.

SF #11 Felipe Delgado 6'8 208 (Seattle, WA) 81 overall FR

Felipe Delgado comes in as a highly-touted recruit out of Seattle, WA. He is ranked as the No. 13 player in this class and the No. 2 small forward. He has great size for his position and is also an adept shooter. He's also very durable, although that probably won't be an issue this season as he serves as the primary backup for Myron DeLeon.

SF #20 Charles Rickert 6'7 222 (Greensboro, NC) 79 overall SO

Charles Rickert returns for his sophomore season out of Greensboro, NC. He had a good season last year as Myron DeLeon's primary backup, but with Felipe Delgado's arrival he will likely play more shooting guard this season. He is a good shooter and has good size. He is also quite athletic, and showed flashes of excellent slashing ability last season.

PF #54 Shannon Edwards 6'11 265 (St. Louis, MO) 81 overall JR

Shannon Edwards returns after a fantastic NCAA Tournament in which he led the Mountaineers in scoring and rebounding in several games. Edwards has fantastic size and has a great back-to-the-basket game. Though he lost the starting center job to Nik Buscher in fall practice, he will get plenty of playing time this season and will have an opportunity to win the job back if he plays well.

                            C #52 Pearson Havens 6'8 240 (Brooklyn, NY) 85 overall JR

Pearson Havens was West Virginia's starting center last season, but it looks likely he will fall completely out of the rotation this season. Havens gradually saw himself supplanted by Shannon Edwards as the primary center, despite retaining the starting job, and with Nik Buscher's arrival, there likely won't be enough minutes to go around for Havens this year. His lack of size really hampers his ability to be effective around the rim and he has struggled to shoot well in his first two seasons at WVU.

                            Reserves:

PF #12 George Neale 6'9 234 (Tulsa, OK) 70 overall SO (Redshirting)

George Neale saw no playing time last season outside of garbage time. The former walk-on will redshirt this season.

Tough loss to end the season bro, I really thought you guys were going to win it all! Love the roster for this season though, like you said it's awesome that only one player declared for the draft. This is the year bro, I feel it.
