I think what I love most about your legacy is how deep you are into it, and seeing different schools in the Top-25, I am only in Year 7 and it's rare to find even 2 Mid-Major or even Major programs (A-10,MW) in the polls.

Yet here your's has Portland and San Diego, as well as Umass, Duquesne,Tulsa,Iona,Richmond, and George Washington.

Oh yeah and it's missing Duke

I am curious has Boston College turned into a ACC powerhouse or is this just a fluke year for them?

By the way good luck against the Orange in Round 1.

I'm confused by the two top 25 lists. On the one you're first, and then the second list are mostly different teams from the first list

The first one is the regular top 25 of all the teams in the nation; the second one is the Mid-Major Top 25, which is the top 25 of only the mid-major and small conference teams.

And speaking of the Mid-Major Top 25, look at independent Texas Pan-American in the top 10! It's pretty rare in this game that an independent would have such a great season and have the possibility of making the tourney.

            That makes sense. Thank you

I'll have to check about BC. They didn't finish last year ranked in the top 25, though. I think this is probably a fluke year for them.

But, yes, it is interesting to see how things have developed. The A-10 has developed into a power conference in recent years while the Big Ten has slid into being mostly irrelevant with only 1-3 teams in the tournament most years.

The ACC, in general, has been the most powerful conference over the course of my legacy.

Sorry, I forgot to edit that to say Mid-Major Top 25. It has now been corrected.

Yeah, they're having a great season, though it looks like the RPI, etc. is still too low to make the tournament with their low SOS, unfortunately.

                vs.
                (8) Syracuse (17-13) vs. (1) West Virginia (29-2)
                Madison Square Gaden
                New York, NY
                March 8th, 2029

Top-seeded West Virginia (29-2) pulled away in the second half to defeat the Syracuse Orange (17-13) 96-75 this evening in the quarterfinal round of the Big East Tournament behind strong scoring efforts by Deno Woodards, O.J. Palmer, and Nile Stevenson. The Mountaineers only led by two points at halftime, but erupted for 53 points in the second half to score 96 points, the most they have scored in a game since defeating Notre Dame 104-74 on January 13th.

Woodards scored a career-high 26 points and also tallied three assists and three steals. He was spectacular shooting the basketball as he made 10 of his 12 field goal attempts, including four-for-four from three-point range. Palmer tied a career-high mark himself as he totaled 22 points, six rebounds, and three steals. Stevenson added 19 points and six boards. Ethan Augustin also came off the bench to tally 11 points and four rebounds in just 16 minutes of action.

Douglas Horner and Tony Sorenson did all they could to keep Syracuse in the game as the scored 21 and 20 points, respectively, but it was not enough.

The Mountaineers shot 55% from the floor this afternoon and made five of their 10 attempts from beyond the arc. They were also prolific at the free throw line, where they made 23 of their 25 attempts. Syracuse also shot 55% from the field and 45% from three-point range, but they only attempted seven free throws and were outrebounded by West Virginia 30-17. They also committed 14 turnovers to West Virginia's nine.

"We didn't play very well on defense, to be frank with you," explained West Virginia head coach James Frizzell. "You can't allow your opponent to shoot 55% from the floor and call it a good defensive outing. That being said, we did limit their opportunities from the charity stripe and also did good work on the glass. Our shooting tonight was magnificent, but we can't count on that every game going forward, so we need to be sure to shore up our defense as we head deeper into March."

Tonight's 75 points is the most points the Mountaineers have given up since giving up 82 to Connecticut in a double-overtime loss on February 14th. The last regulation game the Mountaineers gave up more than 75 points was on February 7th in the Mountaineers' 85-75 loss to Marquette. On the season, the Mountaineers are allowing their opponents 63.6 points per game, which is first in the Big East and 47th in the NCAA.

Notre Dame defeated No. 15 Pittsburgh today, as well, and the Mountaineers and Fighting Irish will face off against one another tomorrow evening in the semifinal round of the Big East Tournament. The Mountaineers won both of their prior matchups against Notre Dame this season.

Beat your happy DePaul took out Marquette. However it appears that means it will mostly likely be a matchup with UConn in the finals.

                      Big East Tournament Semifinals

Top-seeded West Virginia (30-2) won its 30th game of the season this evening in the semifinal round of the Big East Tournament as they defeated fourth-seeded Notre Dame 81-75. The Mountaineers led the Fighting Irish (21-11) by 15-20 points for the majority of the second half, but Notre Dame made a furious comeback in the final few minutes to pull within six points at the final buzzer with a buzzer-beater three in a game that was not as close as the score suggested.

The Mountaineers held Notre Dame to just 31% shooting and 26 points in the first half, but Notre Dame erupted for 49 second-half points and improved their shooting percentage to 50% from the field and 47% from three-point range by the game's conclusion.

"We let up on defense in the second half," explained WVU head coach James Frizzell, "and it nearly came back to bite us. We need to play a complete game and not get complacent when we have a big lead."

O.J. Palmer scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed nine boards to lead the Mountaineers in scoring. Deno Woodards also continued his hot shooting as of late as he hit five of seven from three-point range for 17 points, three rebounds, and six assists. In fact, over the last three games Woodards has made 12 of his 15 three-point attempts, or 80%.

Wilbur See led Notre Dame in scoring with 18 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Junior Noah Rios totaled 16 points and four rebounds while J.S. Bland also added 16 points. Junior point guard Kris Warden paced the offense with 13 points, seven assists, and four steals.

Connecticut blew out DePaul in the other semifinal game this evening 97-60. The Mountaineers will face Connecticut tomorrow night at 9 PM. The Mountaineers lost their only previous game of the season versus Connecticut 82-80 in double-overtime earlier this year.

Yes, indeed, it does. I'm certainly not sad to see Marquette out, but UConn seems to have my number all of a sudden, as well. In addition, the Huskies have been playing lights-out since conference play started, and have been especially impressive in the conference tournament.
