Seton Hall (12-7) vs. #3 West Virginia (18-3)
    WVU Coliseum
    Morgantown, WV
    January 24th, 2021

The West Virginia Mountaineers (18-3, 6-2 Big East) ended their two-game skid this Saturday afternoon with a 82-67 victory over the Seton Hall Pirates (12-7, 4-3 Big East) in Morgantown. No. 3 West Virginia dominated the second half, outscoring Seton Hall 49-36 in the second half after only leaded by two points at the halftime break.

All five West Virginia starters ended the game in double figures. Marquel Proffitt led the way with a double-double, as he accumulated 15 points, 10 rebounds, and three blocks. Freshman Osei Forney got the start at power forward in place of the struggling DeShaun Chatman and impressed as he totaled 14 points and eight rebounds. D.J. Woods l;ed all scorers with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

Tommie Figueroa led the Pirates in scoring with 15 points and four rebounds. Nigel Momplaisir also seemingly had a solid day for Seton Hall with 1 4 points and nine rebounds, but he only hit six of his 19 shot attempts.

As a team, West Virginia grabbed 41 rebounds this afternoon. This was possibly a result of Osei Forney's move to the starting lineup. Forney and Proffitt make a formidable force in the frontcourt as both players measure seven feet in height.

West Virginia will take on the Syracuse Orange at the Carrier Dome on January 27th in Syracuse, NY.

My last final exam is tomorrow and I will be coming home thereafter for Christmas Break. Thus, from now until New Year's, expect frequent updates to this.

My goal is to finish out this season before break is over and hopefully make it a bit into next season, which I think is very doable.

Cincinnati (12-8, 4-5 Big East) added a huge win to their resume this afternoon as the Bearcats from the Queen City brutalized the No. 7 West Virginia (19-4, 7-3 Big East). The game was never really close as Cincinnati jumped out to a 34-24 halftime advantage en route to a 76-59 romp at home.

The Bearcats were led by sophomore shooting guard Rick Brand and senior small forward Marty Barker. Brand led all scorers with 18 points. Barker chipped in 15 points to go along with four assists.

Raynardo Admundson led the Mountaineers in scoring with 14 points and three assists.

The Bearcats shot 50% from the field this afternoon and nailed 40% of their three-point attempts. In comparison, the Mountaineers shot just 36% from the field and shot a putrid 21% from beyond the arc. The Bearcats also held an advantage on the glass where the Mountaineers were outrebounded 33-23.

"We really got beat around today," said West Virginia's second-year head coach James Frizzell. "They were more physical than we were and they hit their open shots. We did neither. They deserved the win today and were clearly the better team out on the court this afternoon.

"We're going through a rough stretch here and we have a lot to work on."

The Mountaineers have now dropped three of their last five games after their 17-1 start and will look to rebound next Wednesday against South Florida in Morgantown.

another fantastic example of why this game is so good, 17-1 seems like the game is mastered and you will never lose again, boredom starting to set in, then boom lose 3 out of 5.

by the way what is your teams rating?

Yep. Plus, I'm a bit out of practice now with this game after several months of not playing it.

My team's rating is 89 OVR (90 OFF, 87 DEF, 91 SHOOTING, 91 REBOUNDING, 89 COACH). We are sixth in the Big East in OVR rating behind Marquette (94), Louisville (92), Villanova (92), Connecticut (92), and Pittsburgh (91).

Teams ranked below me include Notre Dame (83), Seton Hall (85), DePaul (79), Cincinnati (87), Syracuse (86), Providence (83), South Florida (87), St. John's (85), Rutgers (81), and Georgetown (81).
