        vs.
        Cincinnati (11-5) vs. #3 West Virginia (17-1)
        WVU Coliseum
        Morgantown, WV
        January 16th, 2021

No. 3 West Virginia (17-1, 5-1 Big East) won its fifth consecutive game this Saturday afternoon as the Mountaineers knocked off Cincinnati 67-63.

The Bearcats (11-5, 3-2 Big East) led 30-29 at halftime and lead for the beginning portion of the second half, but could not pull out the all-important 'W' in the end.

West Virginia center Marquel Proffitt was sidelined for much of the game with foul trouble and, as a result, only managed to total 12 minutes out on the floor, which played a significant role in the Mountaineers' struggles.

"Losing one of our best players for most of the game is certainly not beneficial to team chemistry," said Coach Frizzell. "However, we were able to overcome Marquel's absence and defeat a very tough Cincinnati squad that has a lot of good players. We'll take the win, even if it wasn't pretty."

Raynardo Admundson led the Mountaineers in scoring with 16 points. He also tallied seven assists. Dinky Woods and Allan Pena also scored in double-figures for the Mountaineers, scoring 13 and 12 points respectively.

Cincinnati's Jerrod Pleiness led all teams in scoring with 17 points and seven boards.

The Mountaineers have Sunday off before traveling to Providence, RI to take on the Providence Friars. The Mountaineers will then travel to Huntington, WV the following day to take on the rival Marshall Thundering Herd, which ought to be a tougher game than most probably expect.

Nice to see that this isn't dead. Do you know who Marquette's losses are to?

This legacy has went dormant many times over the last 3 1/2 years, but it hasn't died and it NEVER will (well, maybe not never).

Seriously, though, unless another college basketball game is released at some point, this legacy will probably continue until I either tire of the game (hard to see happening as it is refreshing every time I step away and come back to it) or I reach the 40th year of my career, at which point legacy mode ends, I believe.

Marquette's first loss came at Utah (13-3). Their second loss came at #13 Connecticut (14-4).

                  vs.
                  #3 West Virginia (17-2) vs. Providence (12-7)
                  Dunkin' Donuts Center
                  Providence, RI
                  January 18th, 2021

Senior shooting guard Seth Wethers scored 28 points for Providence (12-7, 1-5 Big East) as the Friars upset No. 3 West Virginia (17-2, 5-2 Big East) 78-68 Sunday afternoon to earn their first win in Big East Conference action.

For the Mountaineers, a long string of close games finally caught up to them. After losing to Villanova by 25 points to open up conference play, the Mountaineers beat Notre Dame by two points, Rutgers by nine points, St. John's by 10 points, UConn by 10 points, and finally Cincinnati by just four points. At last, the Mountaineers came up on the short end of the stick.

"When you play with fire, you're sure to be burnt," said WVU head coach James Frizzell. "We've been winning a lot of close games lately, but we just couldn't pull it out on the road today.

"We also turned the ball over a few too many times for my liking," said the second-year WVU head coach, referring to his team's 15 turnovers.

West Virginia led throughout the first half and held a 32-28 lead at halftime. Unfortunately for the Mountaineers, Providence began to hit shots and earn frequent trips to the free throw line in the second half, exploding for 50 second-half points to outscore the Mountaineers by 16 in the final period.

Providence earned 32 trips to the free throw line and nailed 27 of them. In comparison, WVU only earned 17 trips to the charity stripe and nailed 15 of them. Both teams shot well from the line, but Providence held a +15 advantage in free throw attempts, which ultimately decided the game.

West Virginia's poor three-point shooting did them no favors, either. The Mountaineers collectively shot 7-for-29 from beyond the arc.

Marquel Proffitt led the Mountaineers with 19 points and five rebounds. He, along with point guard Raynardo Admundson, battled through foul trouble throughout the game. Admundson let the foul trouble really get to him as he missed all five shot attempts he took en route to a scoreless afternoon.

West Virginia will have a short turnaround before taking on the Marshall Thundering Herd in Huntington, WV tomorrow evening. The Herd are not a great team by any stretch of the imagination, but the Capitol Classic is always close and it is one of those games where you can basically throw out the record books.

I just read through this whole dynasty over the course of about two weeks, it's probably the most entertaining I've ever read! As a dynasty noob, I was wondering where besides operation sports I might be able to find CH2k8 dynasties.

Thanks. All the close games were bound to catch up with us at some point. We may have been 17-1, but we have barely blown out anyone this year.

                          Thanks, man.

It used to be that the CH 2K forums over at 2kSports.com used to have plenty of legacies (I used to post this one over there, as well), but that has since pretty much died out and an a lot of the legacy posters that are left from there post here now. Digital Sports Mania and Gamers Lab have some legacies and there are other dynasty-posting forums out on the web. For the most part, I only visit OS, though, so I couldn't tell you much about those.

The West Virginia Mountaineers (17-3) dropped their second consecutive game as the Marshall Thundering Herd (8-5) defeated the Mountaineers 85-76 in Huntington. For No. 3 West Virginia, it was their second consecutive road game in as many days, and it seemed to show.

West Virginia jumped out to a 13-4 advantage early on, but from that point on the Herd were basically in control. West Virginia made some runs to take the lead at a few points in the game, by Marshall led during the vast majority of the game and earned itself a huge victory in the annual Capitol Classic.

"We came out flat and got dominated by a Marshall team that is better than their record indicates," said West Virginia head coach James Frizzell. "There's really no way to sugarcoat this win; we just got our tails handed to us by a team that was definitely better than us tonight. Sure, we were playing on the road and playing our second game in as many days, but there really is no excuse."

All five Marshall starters scored in double-figures. Senior point guard P.L. Carson led all players in scoring with 21 points, four rebounds, and five assists. Skip Haywood scored 18 points for the Herd while Jeremee Chapman chipped in 17.

Marquell Proffitt led the Mountaineers in scoring with 16 points and four rebounds. Josh Bigby and Dinky Woods were the only other Mountaineers to score more than nine points as they scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

West Virginia will now have four days off before taking on a strong Seton Hall team in Morgantown on the afternoon of January 24th.

coach Frizell, are you gonna continue to live and die by the three or are you gonna make some changes after these last two setbacks? and it also seems Mr Proffitt needs to work on his rebounding, Fourney appears to be much better on the boards in limited minutes?

                                I am a sucker for three-point shooting, I guess.

Regarding Osei Forney, there will be some roster changes before the upcoming game, but it will be Forney replacing DeShaun Chatman at power forward.

Having two seven-footers down low is very nice!
