With a huge bet like that, you're really sticking your neck on the line!

I could very well be playing this game in 2017-2018. There probably won't be another college basketball game anytime soon, so this will probably be the only option going forward. Hopefully, I don't ever tire of the gameplay (I haven't yet, even though it certainly isn't as "fresh" as it used to be).

It is interesting that I do sometimes miss the "innocence" of playing in one of the small conferences and not really having much in the way of expectations or anything. At the same time, going back and starting over at a low-tier school would probably get relatively frustrating. I don't want to sabotage my superb career record with a "nice" 10-18 season in my first year at a low-tier school, LOL!

My record was decent, even from the beginning, at Princeton, but my sliders were too easy in the first few years which allowed me to build up faster than I would have preferred. Oh well, that is in the past now!

Win #500 isn't that far away. I should get there either late next season or more likely early in the season afterwards.

Speaking of win #500, that will be yet another goal reached (and another atribute point to add to myself!) and will leave me with the following goals not yet reached:

      1. Sign the Top Recruit in a Recruiting Class - I'm not a stellar recruiter, but I need to make a push for this at some point.

      2. Assemble the Top Recruiting Class - Another one that is going to be tough.

      3. Coach a Player of the Year Award Winner - I feel like I spread the ball around a little too much to even get close to this one. Perhaps, once I get a sufficiently talented player, I can become a ball hog and school 30 PPG with one of my players!

      4. Coach a 2K Sports Award Winner - Same as above.

      5. Coach a Team to the #1 Ranking - I was ranked #2 for quite sometime a few seasons ago. I figure that I will get this at some point if I continue to bring in good recruiting classes and win games.

      6. Coach a Team to a #1 Seed in the NCAA Tournament - The highest I've gotten is a #2 seed. If I can put together a dominant season, this one is certainly attainable.

      7. Get a Lifetime Contract With Any Team - I'm not too sure how hard this one is to get, but if I stay at WVU and continue to win games, perhaps it is attainable.

      8. Get 200,000 Legacy Points in Your Career - I don't have the game on right now, so I'm not sure how many legacy points I have now.

      9. Accumulate 800 Career Wins - This one will take awhile. Even if I win 25 games per year (which is probably optimistic), this one will take another 13 or 14 seasons to achieve.

      10. Accumulate 900 Career Wins - This one will probably rake another 4-5 seasons than the 800 Career Wins goal.

If and when I get all those, Coach James Frizzell will have A+ ratings all across the board!

        #17 West Virginia (19-6) vs. Villanova (11-11)
        The Pavilion
        Philadelphia, PA
        February 1st, 2025

Another day, another second half comeback. For the second game in a row, No. 17 West Virginia (19-6, 5-4) came back from a halftime deficit, this time recovering from a 33-28 deficit against Villanova (11-11, 2-7) on the road to beat the Wildcats 68-56.

The Mountaineers held the Wildcats to only 56 points and 38% shooting this evening. WVU wasn't so hot shooting the basketball, either, especially from beyond the arc, but the Mountaineers held a big advantage at the free throw line, where they drained 20 of their 23 attempts.

Freshman Tre Welch had a career night for the Mountaineers as he scored a career-high 17 points and grabbed 11 boards. D.C. Montgomery also played well, scoring 15 points and notching three steals.

Rhett Petkunas led the Wildcats with 16 points. Ko Latovic tallied 14 points and seven rebounds while Ronny Villanueva added 11 points.

After going 2-0 this week, the Mountaineers will face much stiffer competition next week as they will host South Florida and No. 1 Marquette in Morgantown.

              WVU Coliseum
              Morgantown, WV
              February 5th, 2025

The Mountaineers are on a roll. Tonight, No. 14 West Virginia (20-6, 6-4) throttled South Florida 93-64 in what was a nearly flawless offensive performance.

The Mountaineers shot 53% from the floor, 50% from downtown, and made 24 of their 28 free throw attempts. The Bulls (15-8, 6-4) had no answers defensively and it showed as the Mountaineers scored the most points in a game since November 11th, 2024 against Niagara.

Freshman small forward D.C. Montgomery scored a team-high 20 points to lead the Mountaineers. He also collected four rebounds and tallied three assists. Tre Welch had a career game on the class as he collected a career-high 14 rebounds and scored 16 points. He also dished out five assists, which was also a new career-high for the freshman center.

Welch had to step up in Len Shields' absence. Shields was absent for much of the game with foul troubles. Shields picked up his third foul in the first half and fouled out with over eight minutes remaining. As a result, he only managed 14 minutes of action, but he was quite effective nevertheless as he shot four-for-four from the floor and tallied eight points and six rebounds in limited action.

Barry George also paced the offense with 13 points and five assists while Randall Norton nailed all four of his field goal attempts en route to 10 points and four rebounds.

Junior center Marc Coulter played well for the Bulls as he led his team in scoring and rebounding, totaling 18 points and eight rebounds. Arturo Munns was the only other double-figure scorer as he ended the night with 10 points and seven boards.

West Virginia hosts No. 5 Marquette on Saturday night. The Golden Eagles are the fifth-ranked team in the land, but are currently on a three-game skid. Now seems the perfect time for the Mountaineers to upset a top five team in the Coliseum with the Golden Eagles struggling and the Mountaineers surging.

Way to get the dominant win. Great shooting performance by WVU, and you get a Top 5 team that could be primed for the kill.

                    Milwaukee, WI
                    February 8th, 2025

It was a reversal of fortunes this evening as No. 14 West Virginia (20-7, 6-5) saw its five-game winning streak snapped while No. 5 Marquette (17-5, 7-3) ended its own three-game losing streak.

The Golden Eagles took control early and never really relinquished control of the game. It was never a blowout and the Mountaineers were continuously within striking distance, but at the same time WVU never really seemed to have enough juice to get back into the game. The Golden Eagles maintained a 5-15 point lead for most of the game and went on to win 77-69.

The frontcourt starred for the Golden Eagles. Senior forward Darrel Deng led Marquette in scoring with 14 points and five rebounds. Randy Herman tallied 13 points and eight rebounds while Sid Hinrich added 13 points, seven rebounds, and four steals.

D.C. Montgomery led all players in scoring for the Mountaineers as he totaled 17 points and five steals. Barry George paced the offense with 16 points and four assists while Leandro Summers came off the bench to contribute 11 points. Len Shields also had a decent game down low as he stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, seven rebounds, three assists, three steals, and three blocks.

West Virginia will look to avenge its earlier loss at Notre Dame next Tuesday as the Mountaineers will host the Fighting Irish at the WVU Coliseum.

I read this entire dynasty before signing up over the past few weeks after browsing the Choops forums. Incredibly dynasty, it makes me want to start one myself lol. I'm definitely firing up 2k8 over the weekend. Good luck with ND

What a great thread just read through the bulk of it. Actually have an off topic question. Thought of going to grad school for meteorology instead got my MBA. How did it go for you and did you enjoy it?

Thanks, man. The more the merrier (as far as CH 2K legacies on here)!

                          Thanks for following, man.

As far as meteorology, I have transferred out of it to Economics (B.S., so a lot of the math classes I took are still useful).

Regarding meteorology itself, I loved it and still do. I love weather (especially winter weather and tropical weather). It is and probably always will be very much a hobby of mine. However, the upper level Calculus and physics courses can be pretty brutal. At NC State, at least, you had to take Calculus I-III, Differential Equations, Physics 205 and 208, Dynamics, Chemistry 101 and 201, etc. Basically, aside from Statics, I had to take everything the engineers had to take (plus Chemistry 201, which most did not have to take).

Unfortunately, Differential Equations kicked my butt as well as Physics 205 and 208. Chemistry 201 was also quite difficult to me. I did okay in Calculus I-III, but my grades in there weren't that great (Bs and one C). I had a GPA in the upper 2s and with the way the job market is these days (especially in meteorology), I wasn't very comfortable with that. Thus, I transferred into economics (another subject I enjoy) and really haven't looked back. It's nice to be doing well in school again.

I should have known going into college that higher-level math (got a B in AP Calculus in high school) and physics were not my strong suit, but I made a mistake. Oh well, lesson learned.

Like I said, I don't think the meteorology job market is very good these days. In addition, the pay is not very good (aside from a few jobs like the National Weather Service and upper level TV jobs). In addition, I would speculate around 50% of the jobs are in broadcast television, so there's that (another reason I ended up transferring out as I really started to realize I didn't want to do TV work).

I would think the MBA would be the better choice, but I really don't know, for sure. I would always recommend doing something you like, and in my case economics fills that objective, as well.

Yeah lol it was the reason why I didnt end up going for meteorology. It's very difficult to find work and the math is BRUTAL. I certainly have the same hobby with following the weather and as we speak its snowing up here in Rhode Island.

I wish you well with Economics and I plan on following this thread some more.

Indeed! You should pick up a copy of 2K8 again, though!
