So how do you decide what kind of minutes your bench gets. I noticed. Clemons had a DNP, then a couple of games where he played just 3 and 5 mins, then others where he had 10 min and gave you some points of the bench.

Also would you say your lack of 3pt shooting is probably your team's biggest weakness?
I use a hybrid substitution system. The substitution pattern is set to "Auto", but I frequently manually make changes, as well.

For example, in Clemmons' case, most of the time the CPU would sub him in for a couple minutes, if at all. However, despite his slightly lower ratings than some of my other players, I enjoy his shot and can work with it well. As such, sometimes I will manually sub him in.

Also, if he is playing well (which, for him, basically means that he is shooting the three with consistency), I will leave him in longer, as you saw against Oregon, where I gave him 10 minutes since he hit three treys.

In addition, if a starter is struggling (like in Randall Norton's case for most of the year), I will try to keep him on the bench a little longer than the CPU probably would.

Our three-point percentage as a team isn't all that bad (32-33%), but we seem to be getting progressively worse, which is not a good sign. In addition, Randall Norton, who has generally shot 32-35% from downtown over his three previous years in Morgantown, is shooting under 20% from beyond the arc at the moment. This is really not good at all for me because, with the way I run the offense, my SG has to be able to shoot the three and shoot it consistently. Norton was never a spectacular three-point shooter, but he was usually a low to mid-30s shooter, which was good enough. Unfortunately, he is nowhere to be seen this year.

Leandro Summers, my backup SG and the presumable starter next year at SG, is shooting in the low-40s from beyond the arc right now. Despite him being a freshman, I am going to be very tempted to insert him into the starting lineup at some point of Norton doesn't improve.

We already have two freshmen starters (Montgomery and Welch); why not add another?

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)

By the way, college picks back up for me next Monday (August 20th), so updates may slow once we get to that point. Then again, maybe they won't. Who knows?

I am living at home this year since I am now going to UNCG (15-minute drive from my house), so I will have the 360 with me (unlike last year since I did not bring my 360 to NC State).

We'll see how the living at home thing goes, but I do know it's saving a lot of money!

Ideally, this would be my second-to-last year as I have 65 credit hours. However, since I am switching to a completely different major (B.S. Economics from B.S. Meteorology), it likely that I will have to go another semester since prerequisites will keep me from taking a lot of my core classes this year (you pretty much have to take microeconomics and macroeconomics before you can take anything else).

Thanks. I think I am going to give Norton some more chances, but if he doesn't improve soon, he may get replaced.

Great read. I am using your sliders but I have had way to many fouls my first two games. Do you experience this? I was over the foul limit by the 9 minute mark and it was the CPU slapping them not me fouling.

man Tennessee being so good early and losing every year is frustrating in this Dynasty as real life. Is Pearl still at UT?

I would recommend turning down the reaching slider down a few notches. I've seen a bit too many reaching fouls for my liking, as well, and may make a change to combat it. That should solve your problems regarding getting into the bonus way too early.

I'll have to check up on the Pearl question later tonight. I'm not sure, off the top of my head.

No. 21 West Virginia easily cruised past Tulane this afternoon 86-58. West Virginia led 39-28 at halftime and opened up a huge lead early in the second half, allowing WVU's backups to get considerable playing time in the closing minutes of the game.

Despite foul trouble limiting his playing time to only 15 minutes, D.C. Montgomery continued his tremendous play as of late as he shot eight-for-10 from the field for 21 points. He also dished out three assists. Barry George paced the offense with 16 points and three assists while Len Shields tallied up yet another double-double as he ended with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Sophomore guard Anderson Black garnered a new career-high in points and assists as he scored 14 points and tallied five assists in 15 minutes.

Channing Evenstar led Tulane with 12 points and three assists. Jimmie Fitzwater was the only other Tulane player to eclipse 10 points as he ended with 11 points.

Tulane was held to only 35% shooting and 24% from downtown as the WVU defense was clicking on all cylinders against the previously-undefeated Tulane Green Wave.

                    Morgantown, WV
                    November 24th, 2024

No. 21 West Virginia saw its hopes for an undefeated season go out the window this evening as the Siena Saints came into Morgantown and delivered a fatal blow to the Mountaineers as the Saints defeated WVU 83-69.

Siena jumped out to an early lead and, for the most part, dominated the game. WVU made a desperate comeback in the closing minutes of the first half to cut the lead to four points as the two teams headed off for the locker room, but that was as close as things got for the remainder of the game.

Interestingly, West Virginia never led. Siena took a 2-0 lead early and never allowed WVU to even tie it thereafter.

Drew Archibong led Siena with 21 points and three rebounds. Antonio Shepard tallied 17 points, four rebounds, and three assists while Vic Cotton added 11 points, seven rebounds, three steals, and three blocks.

Len Shields led the Mountaineers with a team-high 21 points, eight rebounds, and three steals. Barry George added 16 points and four assists.

West Virginia will look to bounce back next week against #5 UCLA at home.

Wow, not expecting a performance like that from Siena. Well, at least the players won't be distracted with going undefeated now - so there's a small bonus I guess.

Siena has a good team, actually, so I'm not too disappointed. With that having been said, Siena isn't that good and I'm never happy about losing in WVU Coliseum.

We'll take the punch and move on. We have plenty of chances to redeem ourselves (or dig ourselves into a much deeper hole ... but think positive!) throughout the remainder of the non-conference schedule.

No. 20 West Virginia mounted a comeback for the ages this Saturday afternoon in Morgantown as the Mountaineers came back from a 20-point early second half deficit to defeat the ninth-ranked UCLA Bruins 86-77.

"We just never gave up," beamed Coach Frizzell after his team's effort. "After we fell behind last week against Siena, we just kind of rolled over and waved the white flag, metaphorically speaking, but tonight we kept on playing hard right to the final whistle and it paid off.

UCLA led 39-25 at halftime and seized a 47-27 lead early in the second half before WVU's offense got in rhythm. In the end, WVU would put up 61 second-half points in what was the greatest offensive explosion in a single half in the Coach Frizzell era at West Virginia.

West Virginia shot 30-for-36 from the free throw line. More impressively, collectively, West Virginia made its last 16 free throws of the afternoon, including six by D.C. Montgomery and another pair by Barry George in the final minute.

Montgomery was impressive from the free throw line tonight as he hit all 11 of his attempts. Montgomery would end the game with a team-high 20 points and seven rebounds. Len Shields added 16 points and eight rebounds while Barry George paced the offense with 15 points, four rebounds, and six steals (a new career-high).

Willie Valencia did all he could to keep UCLA in the game as he hit the net on fire en route to a game-high 27 points and five assists. Unfortunately for he and his team, his five threes was not enough to will the Bruins to a victory. 6'11" junior Stephon Gross added 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists for the Bruins while Smackey Riddick came off the bench to add 10 points and three steals.

West Virginia has two days off before hosting #10 Clemson on Tuesday evening.

Very nice comeback against UCLA. I must say I still haven't mastered the art of coming back from a big deficit all these years later, but 60+ points in the second half is great.

Or, as they say, home cookin' (all those free throws!)
