St. Bonaventure (3-3) @ #6 West Virginia (7-0)
WVU Coliseum
Morgantown, WV
November 25th, 2020
They didn't play well by any stretch of the imagination, but the #6 West Virginia Mountaineers (7-0) managed to stay undefeated as they knocked off the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (3-3) by a final score of 79-74. The Mountaineers led for the majority of the game and essentially had the game in control, but could never build a large lead. This allowed the Bonnies to make it somewhat close in the final seconds, which raised the tension at WVU Coliseum. However, some big defensive stops in the final seconds repelled the Bonnies from scoring in their final two possessions, allowing the Mountaineers to escape unscathed with a perfect 7-0 record this season.
"We played poorly; no way to sugarcoat that," said Coach Frizzell. "We're going to be practicing hard this week in order to prepare for Duke next week. We certainly aren't prepared to face Duke at Cameron Indoor as things stand right now."
The Mountaineers were led in scoring, rebounding, and steals by Marquel Proffitt, who totaled 22 points, eight rebounds, and six steals. D.J. Woods also had a fine game, scoring 15 points, while Raynardo Admundson managed 10 points, five rebounds, and four steals.
The Bonnies were led by strong performances by Petroslav Hutchinson and Husein Forbes, who combined to score 36 points and hit eight of St. Bonaventure's nine three pointers in the game.
The Mountaineers have six days off before taking on a top 15 Duke team on December 2nd.

Los Angeles, CA - "I believe West Virginia can beat Duke. I don't think the poorly game against Bonaventure can be a comparison with Duke. Duke gives another kind of motivation - is the view of Lakers coach Barbatrucco http://www.operationsports.com/forum...-nba-2k11.html who has also a former West Virginia player in L.A., Devin Ebanks - West Virginia is a very well coached team. Coach Frizell has a long experience, I follow him from the times of Princeton. He knows what it means working hard for a target. Beat Duke is a target and West Virginia can do it".Last edited by Barbatrucco; 02-03-2011, 06:56 AM."For the strength of the pack is the wolf and the strength of the wolf is the pack" Rudyard KiplingComment

#4 West Virginia (8-0) @ #11 Duke (9-2)
Cameron Indoor Stadium
Durham, NC
December 2nd, 2020
#4 West Virginia (8-0) showed that they were for real tonight. The Mountaineers, despite an 8-0 start had shown some flaws in their game, but they faced the ultimate test by traveling to #11 Duke (9-2) to take on the Blue Devils at Cameron Indoor Stadium, a place which features a tremendous home court advantage for the Blue Devils. But, instead, the Mountaineers came out and held off an early Blue Devils run, taking a 36-30 lead at halftime.
But the real work was done in the second half as the Mountaineers completely dominated a tiring Blue Devils team in the final 20 minutes, outscoring Duke 46-30 en route to a commanding 82-60 statement victory.
"This is a huge victory for us and our kids," said Coach Frizzell. "At times we had played lousy this year and had not lived up to the hype, in my opinion, but we changed all that tonight by not just beating, but slaughtering a tremendously skilled Duke team."
No particular Mountaineer stood out. Instead, the starting unit carried the team with four of the five starts scoring in double-figures. Marquel Proffitt led all scorers with 18 points and four rebounds. Raynardo Adumudson also had a very good game with 14 points, three rebounds, and six assists while Dinky Woods and Allan Pena both scored 13 points.
West Virginia also played fantastically on the defensive end of the floor, holding a potent Duke offense to only 30 points in both halves. Only one Blue Devil, Markus Flowers who scored 12 points, eclipsed the 10-point barrier as the Blue Devils collectively shot 29% from the floor and 25% from three-point range. Their saving grace was at the foul line where they hit 26 of their 29 attempts.
On the other hand, the Mountaineers shot the ball extremely well, hitting a season-high 63% of their shots. Unfortunately, 15 turnovers, many of them careless, kept this game from being even more of a blowout.
"We need to get better at taking care of the basketball. We were lackadaisical in that aspect of the game out there," remarked Coach Frizzell, "but we won and that's all that really matters right now.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Thanks!
It seemed a lot worse for some reason. We've had some turnover issues that we need to address from previous games, as well.
I should have a few updates this weekend, including some recruiting news.Comment

Fantastic dynasty. Do you know if it's possible to take screenshots in CH 2K8? I just ordered it online from Amazon and hoping to start up a dynasty over here.Comment

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)
Thank you! You cannot via the game itself as there is no EA Sports World-like feature, unfortunately. However, you can buy a TV tuner and take screenshots that way, although I have no idea how that works. I've always thought that it would be neat to include screenshots in this legacy so you guys could have an idea of what the players look like and such, but taking pictures with the digital camera of the TV generally suck and I don't want to fool with using a TV tuner.Comment

West Virginia Lands Three New Recruits
The class of 2021 is now complete for West Virginia University as the fall signing period draws to a close. Barry George, Randall Norton, and Kelyn Clemmons signed their letters of intent to play basketball for Coach Frizzell and the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Coach Frizzell had three scholarships at his disposal this year and with these signings, the class of 2021 is complete and now it is time to start working on the 2022 class, who are currently high school juniors.
Point guard Barry George is the highest rated of this year's class in Morgantown, ranking 89th in the county and 30th at his position. George, a four-star prospect, hails from Huntington, WV where he was honored as West Virginia's Mr. Basketball. George was a good shooter in high school and especially excelled shooting free throws. He is a very smart player and should be a good addition to the team next year and could very well be Raynardo Admundson's eventual replacement.
Randall Norton is a 6'1" shooting guard out of Brooklyn, NY. Norton, ranked 107th in the country and 34th at his position does not particularly excel at any one thing, but is a good all-around player. He is quite fast, however, and could make some noise on the break.
Kelyn Clemmons, a 6'2" shooting guard out of Fayetteville, NC, fills out this guard-heavy class for the Mountaineers. Clemmons, ranked 202th in the country and 61st at his position, is a solid prospect that can do just about everything. Like Norton, he should be a good all-around guard for the Mountaineers, though he lacks the quickness Norton provides.
"I am very excited about Barry, Randall, and Kelyn joining us next year," said Coach Frizzell about this year's recruiting class. "They are all great basketball players and even better people. I look forward to working with them as both a basketball coach and a mentor next season."
Signed Recruits:
1. Barry George 5'11 163 (Huntington, WV - #89 overall, #30 PG) 4*, Mr. Basketball
2. Randall Norton 6'1 170 (Brooklyn, NY - #107 overall, #34 SG) 3*
3. Kelyn Clemmons 6'2 185 (Fayetteville, NC - #202 overall, #61 SG) 3*Comment
