            February 18th, 2037

No. 1 West Virginia (22-3, 11-2) put the brakes on a two-game losing skid as they dominated Notre Dame (17-9, 8-6) this evening 79-58 in Morgantown.

The Mountaineers jumped all over the visiting Irish early and led by 17 at halftime. Notre Dame couldn't make any headway in the second half and the Mountaineers put it on cruise control to win by 21 points.

The Mountaineers were strong from beyond the three-point line, where they made 15 out of 32 attempts (47%). They also took good care of the basketball with just seven giveaways on the night.

Stefon Hull hit six three-pointers and scored 21 points to lead all in scoring for West Virginia. Felipe Delgado added 14 points and six rebounds and Damond Pasco paced the offense with 10 points, six assists, and four steals.

Austen Simon scored 17 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead Notre Dame in scoring. Anthony Ozier added 11 points and seven boards, and Quentin Rivers tallied 11 points and five rebounds.

West Virginia will travel to upstate New York to take on No. 4 Syracuse this weekend at the Carrier Dome. The Orange are currently in the top spot in conference with a 12-2 record, and the Mountaineers will likely need to win on Saturday to keep their hopes of a regular season Big East Conference title alive.

              vs.
              #1 West Virginia (22-4) vs. #4 Syracuse (26-2)
              Carrier Dome
              Syracuse, NY
              February 21st, 2037

No. 4 Syracuse (26-2, 13-2) came out on top this evening in a battle of the top two teams of the Big East as the Orange defeated top-ranked West Virginia 88-80.

West Virginia (22-4, 11-3) led 44-42 at halftime, but the Orange took the lead after halftime and were able to sink free throws in the closing seconds to secure the huge win. The win gives Syracuse a two-game advantage in the loss column in conference over the Mountaineers, accounting for the head-to-head tiebreaker, so today's win should give Syracuse the conference title assuming they do not fall apart in their final three games.

Senior guard Roger McCurry scored 21 points to lead Syracuse in scoring. Toby Miles nearly accounted for a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds and Pierre Townsend added 12 points and five boards. Sylvester Garza and Jason Wilkins also added 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Syracuse shot an impressive 58% (30/52) from the floor this evening and sank all but one of their 23 free throw attempts (96%). The Mountaineers shot a respectable 44% (28/63) from the floor, but struggled shooting from beyond the three-point arc, where they made just seven of 24 attempts (29%).

A bright spot for the Mountaineers was the play of center Carson Lavender, who totaled a career-high in points with 23. He also added seven rebounds and three steals. Stefon Hull was limited to just 19 minutes of game time because of foul trouble, but still managed to score 13 points. Damond Pasco added 11 points, four assists, and five steals and Joshua Wilkerson also scored 11 from off the bench. Star forward Felipe Delgado struggled shooting, hitting just one of six from the field, but he did make all eight of his free throw attempts and ended with 10 points.

"Obviously, tonight's result is disappointing for us," said West Virginia head coach James Frizzell. "We really struggled out there defensively, though you also have to give credit to [Syracuse]. Yeah, we were leaving them open more often than we should've, but they were hitting their open shots, and even some contested ones. We've still got four games to play before the conference tournament, so we're going to get back in the gym and try to fix things before March rolls around."

Tonight's loss gives West Virginia three losses in their last four games after starting off the season winning 21 of their first 22.

Next, West Virginia will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bearcats next Wednesday.

Not sure why we are still ranked ahead of Syracuse....we have a better SOS and the #1 RPI, but they still have two less losses than us and beat us head-to-head (granted in a close game at their place).

That's about the only knock on CH2K8 was the rankings never felt like they cared too much if you lost to another ranked team

Yeah, the rankings in this game are definitely a little suspect. Fortunately, given the NCAA Tournament it doesn't really matter so much like it would for college football, but it's still a bit irritating. Oh, well! Otherwise, there's very little to complain about with regards to legacy mode!

It is absolutely wild that this legacy has over 800,000 views!! Insane! I remember first joining OS around 2010 and being a fan of this and I still check every few days to see if there is an update. Congrats on the longevity of this thing and who knows you might hit 1 MILLION VIEWS!

Also it feels like Pasco has been there for about 15 seasons now lol

Haha, I appreciate it! I need to get some more updates in, I've been on a little more of a football gaming kick lately, though.

I started this when I was 15 years old, and I'm 28 now, so I've been going at it for close to half my life.

Pasco has been there for a long time, several years in real life at the pace I've been moving recently, haha.

Congrats man. Truly incredible to see someone follow through and be so dedicated to something they truly enjoy. Take your time and get back to it when you’re up for it.

I have always checked in on this for over over a decade now; and I’m an old man now (32) ha.
