        vs.
        #1 West Virginia (21-2) vs. Georgetown (10-11)
        Verizon Center
        Washington, DC
        February 7th, 2037

Saul Mitchell scored 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Georgetown (10-11, 4-8) to a shocking 70-66 upset of No. 1 West Virginia (21-2, 10-1) this Saturday afternoon in Washington, DC.

D.J. Allison scored 11 points from off the bench for the Hoyas and Lonnie Dowling chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds. Taurean Ward also paced the offense with 10 points, four boards, and six assists.

The Hoyas trailed 22-21 at halftime, but their offense exploded in the second half, where they scored 49 points. At one point, the Hoyas led by 13 points, but West Virginia cut into the lead late. Ultimately, it was too little, too late for the top-ranked team in the land as the Hoyas hit their free throws in the closing minute to seal the deal and hand the Mountaineers their second loss of the season, and their first loss in conference play.

"It was a lousy effort on our part, but you have to give [Georgetown] credit," said West Virginia head coach James Frizzell after his team's surprising loss. "They match up with us really well and their size down low really neutered a lot of our strengths. We got some open looks from the outside, but we just didn't convert on those. Carson [Lavender] getting into foul trouble and fouling out definitely didn't help matters, either. I think the officiating got a little touchy in the second half."

Georgetown shot 35 attempts from the free throw line compared to just nine tries by the Mountainers.

The Hoyas outrebounded West Virginia 39-37 and held the Mountaineers to just 37% (25/67) from the floor.

Stefon Hull followed up his career-best 27-point performance against Louisville with a 24-point showing tonight for West Virginia. Felipe Delgado added 12 points and nine boards and Joshua Wilkerson scored 11 points from off the bench.

West Virginia will look to get back on track next Wednesday against South Florida.

                February 11th, 2037

No. 1 West Virginia (21-3, 10-2) suffered their second consecutive loss this evening, this time at home, as the South Florida Bulls (17-8, 7-5) overcame a 12-point first half deficit to upset the Mountaineers 77-68.

The Mountaineers struggled to shoot the basketball for the second consecutive game, managing just 32% (23/72) from the floor overall. The Mountaineers were competent from outside the arc (16/44, 36%), but really struggled from two-point range (25% on 2PT attempts) and only got to the free throw line six times.

South Florida, meanwhile, shot 48% (23/48) from the floor and 26/32 (81%) from the free throw line.

Senior small forward Wahab Crenshaw scored a team-high 17 points and grabbed six rebounds for South Florida. Benjamin Casey totaled an 11-point, 10-rebound double-double and Erin Stoudamire added 10 points and seven boards. Collis Cuic also added 11 points and five assists and Emerson Grkovic scored 10 as all five Bulls starters reached double-figures in scoring.

Stefon Hull scored a game-high 19 points and dished out five assists to lead West Virginia in scoring. Felipe Delgado was the only other Mountaineer to reach double-figures in scoring with 14 points on an inefficient 4/16 shooting.

West Virginia has the rest of the week off before they host Notre Dame in Morgantown next Wednesday.

Just starting one of these dynasties myself. Old school, 2005 NCAA March Madness, with the worst team I can find. Just joined this page, so I guess I have a probationary period before I can start a thread.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate. USF is a good team, so losing to them isn’t a catastrophe, though it’s too bad it was at home. Georgetown is not good, but they always have good size because of how they recruit, which really neutralizes our strengths (and we are weaker down low than in most years this season, which doesn’t help). We’ve struggled against the Hoyas a lot more than you’d expect over the years.

Cool! I look forward to it! Welcome! I was always more of a CH 2K fan compared to NCAA MM, but I did have NCAA 2005 and it was fun. That game had a good soundtrack, IIRC? One Shining Moment was one of the songs, I think.

I’ve never been a big fan of CH 2K8’s soundtrack. My favorite 2K soundtrack was ESPN College Hoops 2K4. I loved the ESPN songs...really got me immersed in the game.

NCAA Football 06 is probably my favorite soundtrack overall, though. Brings back the memories...
