So far! I’m hoping for the three-peat, but we’ve had a few close calls this year that give me pause. We’re going to need to string together some great games in March to win it all!

      January 25th, 2037

No. 1 West Virginia (19-1, 8-0) won their 10th game in a row this evening as they dispatched the Villanova Wildcats 78-53.

Villanova (11-7) fell behind early and trailed by a 24-point margin, 43-19, at halftime. The Wildcats kept pace with the Mountaineers in the second half, but it was too little, too late as they fell by 25 points to the top-ranked team in the country.

The Wildcats were careless with the basketball as they were forced into 23 turnovers.

Felipe Delgado scored a game-high 16 points to go along with eight rebounds, five assists, and four steals to lead West Virginia in scoring. Damond Pasco hit five three-pointers to tally 15 points and five assists and freshman Johnny Riggs came off the bench to hit three three-pointers and score 11 points.

Anis Paschel scored 11 points and grabbed four rebounds to lead the Wildcats in scoring. Anil Ager was the only other double-digit scorer for Villanova with 10 points and six boards.

Next, West Virginia will head to Rhode Island to take on the Providence Friars next Wednesday evening.

Absolutely love whenever I see this get updated. Delgado looks like quite the player, he's been on a tear recently.

Thanks, bud! Yeah, Delgado is a good one! I was fortunate he didn’t declare for the NBA after last season (he definitely would’ve in real life)!

I think there's definitely a case to be made that this team isn't quite as good as the record suggests. We've had some close calls, and eventually we're going to end up on the wrong side of one of those....

                  January 28th, 2037

Carson Lavender scored 20 points and hauled in five rebounds to lead No. 1 West Virginia (20-1, 9-0) to a 68-59 victory tonight over the Providence Friars (7-10) in Rhode Island.

The Mountaineers jumped all over Providence at the start of the game and led 42-28 at halftime, but the Friars battled back in the second half and cut the lead to single digits during the closing minutes of the game. The Mountaineers won by nine points, but few would have expected West Virginia to win this one by single-digits coming in to tonight.

West Virginia shot nearly 60% from the floor in the first half and scored 42 points, but the tables turned in the second half, when the Mountaineers could nary score a basket for long stretches and only managed 26 points in total in the game’s final 20 minutes.

Belton Mombollet scored 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds for West Virginia and Felipe Delgado added 11 points.

Josko Dawn totaled 14 points, five assists, and four steals for Providence. John David Guzman added 12 points and four assists and Aki Truscott scored 10 points.

West Virginia will host Louisville next on Saturday. The Cardinals have only won one conference game thus far this season.

I was thinking of the real-life ex-Purdue guard, I guess, haha.

Yeah, I spent at least 30 seconds doing math to ensure he wasn't in your dynasty, and then looked at the box score

Stefon Hull scored a career-best 27 points and hit five three-pointers to lead No. 1 West Virginia (21-1, 10-0) past Louisville this evening 75-45 in front of the hometown Morgantown crowd.

Junior point guard Damond Pasco also totaled 15 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and six steals for the Mountaineers.

The Mountaineers led Louisville at halftime 33-25, but West Virginia really pulled away in the second half, outpacing the Cardinals 42-20 in the game's final 20 minutes.

Elvin Turiaf and Harvey Harrington each scored 10 points to lead Louisville (5-13, 1-8) in scoring.

The Mountaineers were impressive from behind the arc, where they shot 14/28 (50%). The Mountaineers also continually frustrated the Louisville offense, forcing the Cardinals into 18 turnovers and 35% (16/46) shooting, including just 3/13 (23%) from beyond the arc.

The Mountaineers have the next six days off before traveling to Washington, DC to take on the struggling Georgetown Hoyas next Saturday.
