Yeah...the sim engine in this game can be a little wonky at times. I mean, I get Georgetown being able to upset them, but upset them by 38 points??? C'mon, man!

Georgetown tends to give me more trouble than they "should". They've been generally terrible since I've been at WVU, but they match up well with me size-wise, so they generally play better than they should against me on paper. They've definitely given me some scares in recent years.

As a side note, that center of theirs is really good. He's a beast. Close to 80 OVR as a freshman and 7'2". He would fit in really well at WVU! I missed him!

That being said, Pittsburgh will be the favorite in the semifinal game and Pitt nearly beat me in the regular season finale, so that could be interesting in its own right.

Me too! I was hoping to play them and hopefully get back at them after our close loss earlier this season!

Marquette was on such a roll this season, but they lost three of their final five games - and one of those was an odd March non-conference cupcake game, so they've lost three of their last four games against power conference opponents.

Big East Tournament - Semifinal Round

Shaun Norris scored a career-high 33 points, but it wasn't enough as the third-seeded Connecticut Huskies (25-8) fell this evening to second-seeded West Virginia (25-7) in the Big East Tournament Semifinals by a final score of 81-70.

Norris didn't get a lot of help from his teammates as no other Husky scored more than nine points and and the rest of the team shot a combined 26% (14/56) from the floor.

Willie Gomes put up a gaudy stat line for West Virginia as he totaled 24 points, a career-high 20 rebounds, four steals, and six blocks (tying a career-high). Skip Bradford added 18 points and Myron DeLeon scored 15 points. Predrag Gabler hit four three-pointers and ended with 12 points and seven rebounds.

The Mountaineers led 43-27 at halftime and led by as many as 27 points in the second half before Connecticut made a comeback in the waning moments of the game. In any case, the Mountaineers were rarely threatened and the Huskies' comeback ultimately proved to be too little, too late.

Pittsburgh, the No. 4 seed in the Big East Tournament, defeated Georgetown 70-61, so the Mountaineers and the Panthers will face off in the Big East Tournament Championship Game tomorrow evening. The two rivals faced off in the two teams' regular season finales, with WVU coming out on top thanks to a go-ahead basket by Myron DeLeon with just one second remaining to give the Mountaineers the 88-87 victory. The Mountaineers will be looking to win their third Big East Tournament Championship in a row.

Big East Tournament - Championship Game

West Virginia (26-7) cruised past Pittsburgh (22-11) this evening 93-63 to win their third consecutive Big East Tournament Title. The second-seeded Mountaineers scored the game's first 19 points and the Panthers never seriously threatened.

Willie Gomes totaled 26 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks to lead West Virginia in all three categories. Myron DeLeon also had a fantastic game, scoring 22 points, five rebounds, and four assists. Predrag Gabler also hit four three-pointers and scored 16 points.

West Virginia shot 51% (36/70) from the field and outrebounded the fourth-seeded Panthers 37-23.

Senior guard Randy Banjo came off the bench to scored 17 points to lead Pittsburgh in scoring. Fellow senior guard Bud Hudson was the only other Pitt Panther to score in double-figures as he tallied 12 points and five assists.

Tonight's blowout is a far cry from the two teams' heated back-and-forth battle last week which saw the Mountaineers win by one point off a Myron DeLeon go-ahead layup with just a second remaining.

Tonight's win gives West Virginia 16 consecutive wins dating back to their 86-77 loss at Notre Dame back on January 15th.

"We've really turned things around this season, and I think tonight's win really showcases that," beamed West Virginia head coach James Frizzell. "We really played below our potential early in the season, but as of late we're playing as well as any team I've ever coached and I'm really excited to see what we can do in the NCAA Tournament."

Both teams will await their NCAA Tournament seedings during Selection Sunday tomorrow. Pittsburgh is currently projected as a No. 10 seed in the NCAA Tournament and West Virginia is a projected No. 2 seed.

Definitely didn't see you getting a 2 seed after the start you had. Great job this year!

Thanks. I think we got a pretty fortuitous draw, as well. Duquesne probably scares me less than any of the other No. 1 seeds.

Would you consider yourself the strongest or weakest of the 2 seeds? Congrats on the tournament title as well. How far do think your team will go as they have shown they can beat anyone, but also play bad and lose early.

I hope you and Duquesne meet off in the Elite 8. Can't believe they got a one seed. Could be some great matchups hope you make a great run.
