Good grief! So many turnovers from USF, it's a miracle the game was so close.

Yeah, unfortunately for us, they shot really well and dominated us on the boards. But at least we got the W.

Looks like they hung around in the 2nd half, but with the large halftime lead I can imagine West Virginia didn't have their foot on the gas.

Yeah, that’s often an issue in games like this once we get up big.

                    January 10th, 2037

No. 1 West Virginia (15-1, 4-0) overcame an 11-point first half deficit to defeat St. John's (10-4, 2-1) this evening 63-50 in Morgantown.

The Red Storm dominated the early portion of the game and held on to lead 29-23 at the halftime break. The Mountaineers took control after halftime, however, and outscored the visitors 40-21 the rest of the way.

Felipe Delgado scored 18 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Mountaineers in scoring. Stefon Hull also added 15 points and four assists.

Senior point guard Arthur Carter scored 12 points to lead St. John's in scoring, and Jeffrey Copeland shot 4/4 from the field and scored 10 points from off the bench in just 14 minutes of action.

St. John's struggled to score tonight, especially in the second half. The Red Storm shot just 31% (17/54) overall. The Mountaineers weren't especially effective offensively, either, shooting just 41% (25/61) from the floor, but they did have more success from beyond the three-point arc, where they shot 9/23 (39%).

West Virginia has two days off before traveling to Milwaukee to take on Marquette in their next outing.

Felipe Delgado scored 24 points and added five steals to lead No. 1 West Virginia (16-1, 5-0) to a closer than expected 75-72 victory this evening against Marquette (6-10, 2-2) in Milwaukee.

Stefon Hull added 14 points and hit four threes, but aside from him and Delgado the Mountaineers did not get a lot of other offensive production.

The Mountaineers led just 35-33 at halftime and couldn't manage to pull away in the second half, either. The Golden Eagles had a chance to tie the game in the waning seconds, but senior Jibran Parham's three-point attempt hit the back of the iron and the Mountaineers escaped to keep their perfect conference record intact.

Parham scored 13 points for Marquette. Freddie Ager had the most impressive performance for Marquette with 16 points, 11 rebounds, and four steals. Robby Mulic added 12 points and seven rebounds and Christian Minnieweather and Kamarr Whitworth each scored 10 points.

Marquette stayed in the game due to an efficient offensive showing despite 15 turnovers. The Golden Eagles also shot a perfect 20/20 from the free throw line.

The Mountaineers were also uncharacteristically outrebounded by Marquette 33-25.

Next, West Virginia will host Cincinnati on Saturday. The Bearcats are 0-4 in conference play so far this season.

I am praying hard that 2K will make a new hoops game in 2020. Love the fact you have continued to post this for over a decade...

I wouldn’t count on them bringing it back considering 2K canceled their College Hoops series long before the issues that forced EA’s NCAA Football series out came to pass, but I guess you never know. I would certainly like to see it! The legal framework does seem to be changing to be more friendly to bringing these games back, at least.
