I don't want to face Maryland again! That game sucked last year! Maryland couldn't miss!

Ah, the days of Lalugba and Swift. I wish I still had those guys. Lalugba was an amazing shooter and his shooting motion was so pure that I was able to make many, many threes with him. His only downfall was his poor free throw shooting. Swift was probably the best overall player I've ever had. He was so dominant down low. Kole may be able to challenge Swift as my best overall player if he comes back for his junior season, but for now, Swift is still the better player.

The detriment of playing 15-16 minute halves is that my minutes per game stats would be out of whack.
Let us know if/when you try this. I am also using rspencer's 20 minute half sliders, but I am getting way too many shot attempts as well.

The San Francisco Dons (35-4) are going to the National Championship Game! Propelled by a stunning barrage of 23 three-pointers, the Dons outran the Richmond Spiders (29-8) 106-91 in a high-scoring affair to advance to the National Title Game on Monday.

The Dons hit 23 of their 44 three-point attempts, which ultimately proved to be the difference-maker. All five Dons' starters scored in double-figures, with Matt Owen's 13-point, 6-rebound, 11-assist performance being the most impressive.

"This is huge for us!" exclaimed Coach Frizzell. "I and no one on this team has been to the National Title Game. It's huge to finally get over the hump and win a game in the Final Four. We look forward to taking on Maryland. I think we'll be ready after being thumped by them last season."

#1 Maryland impressively thumped #5 Georgia 92-65 in the other semifinal game. The Dons fell to the Terrapins 86-70 in their Final Four meeting last year, but the Dons are improved and are looking for a better result this time.

I'm going to start with the Championship Game against Maryland. I know it's kind of odd to do it right before the end of the season, but I'm tired of these 100-point games. I am sticking with rspencer's sliders for the most part, though. I just feel like 20 minutes is a little too long.

I can get 20 minutes to work if I turn down the CPU's tendencies, but this results in the CPU not running much offense until the final 10 seconds and throwing up a contested shot with the shot clock running down. While this makes 20 minutes workable, it also makes it too easy on defense since the CPU ends up taking bad shots oftentimes.

I've actually already played the National Championship Game, so it will be going up soon.

Some things never change. Death, taxes, and San Francisco (35-5) getting blown out by Maryland (35-5) in the Final Four.

The #1-seeded Maryland Terrapins blew out the San Francisco Dons 72-55 to win the National Championship Game for the second consecutive year and the third time in school history.

The Dons were done in by profusely poor shooting. The Dons shot 29% from the floor and 3-for-26 from three-point range. And this comes just two days after the Dons made 23 three-pointers against Richmond.

The Dons were in the game for the majority of the first half, but Maryland erupted offensively in the closing minutes of the first half to take a 37-21 lead at halftime. The Dons would play better in the second half, but would never get back within striking distance.

"Regardless of our 17-point loss, we still had a great season," said Coach Frizzell. "It's a shame that the season had to end this way, but the reality is that we were one of the final two teams standing this season, so this is nothing to hang our heads about. To be frank, it sucks, but it doesn't ruin the greatest season in San Francisco Dons history since the mid-1950s when this school won back-to-back National Championships in 1955 and 1956."

The San Francisco Dons finish the season with a 35-5 record, a 13-1 conference record, and a trip to the National Championship Game. It has been a great year.

After making 23 3 pointers in the final four matchup, I thought for sure it was your year to win the national championship. I guess your team celebrated too much and didn't focus on winning a national title.

Oh well =\ there's always next year...who knows where Coach Frizzell will be after this year?

Bob Huggins Out, James Frizzell in at West Virginia

West Virginia head coach Bob Huggins announced his retirement earlier today after his team's disappointing 16-13 (9-9) season. His team started the season ranked #5 coming off an Elite Eight appearance, but after a 16-13 season, the Mountaineers didn't even make the NIT.

Huggins, now aged 65, decided to hang it up after a disappointing season.

"I have had a great time here at West Virginia and am forever grateful for this chance to coach at my alma mater," Huggins said, "but I'm getting older, so I feel like it's time for me to retire."

West Virginia will lose all five starters this offseason, which also probably influenced Huggins' decision.

Within a few hours, the Mountaineers announced the hiring of San Francisco head coach James Frizzell, who was the obvious choice coming off an appearance in the NCAA Title Game.

"I greatly enjoyed my time at San Francisco and I will forever be greteful for the opportunity and fun I had while there," stated Frizzell in a press conference. "However, I knew that there was no way I could turn down the West Virginia job offer. It has nothing to do with my experience at San Francisco. My experience was great there, but it was no secret that I wanted to coach at West Virginia, so I don't feel like this should be a surprise.

"Next season could be tough for this WVU team after losing all five starters, but I'm ready to get to work and right the ship. I haven't had a chance to visit with the team yet, but from watching them on TV many times this season, there is certainly talent on the team, even though it's young. I look forward to working with the kids and trying to bring West Virginia back to prominence."

Congrats on getting your dream job at WVU! Is this where Coach Frizzell will retire from his great coaching career? The Big East is always going to be tough, but with no returning starters, it's going to be even tougher! Curious, who took over the job at USF?

                              2019 Recruiting Class

Coach Frizzell signed four recruiting this offseason in addition to the three recruits Coach Huggins had already signed during the Fall Signing Period.

The class is highlighted by four-star prospects Allan Pena and Marquel Proffitt. Pena, a 6'7" small forward, hails from Toronto, Canada and should help fill the void at small forward. Marquel Proffitt of Salt Lake City, Utah is a junior college center that could help fill the role that Owen Kole and Cassiand Swift did in the past for Coach Frizzell.

"I am very excited by this year's class," said Coach Frizzell. "We had a lot of holes to fill and I felt we filled them sufficiently. I think we can have a good season once we get some experience under our belts."

Interesting, three members of this year's class hail from Toronto, Canada.

This class ranks as 30th in the nation and sixth in the Big East. The Maryland Terrapins pulled in this year's top-ranked class.
