      Princeton Tops Sacred Heart

      11/8/09 vs. Sacred Heart

      Final: 70-62

"We knew it was going to be a hard game, but Wendell (Lalugba) really stepped up in a big way and helped us top Sacred Heart, who is one of the better mid-majors in the country, though they are struggling right now," explained Coach Frizzell after his Princeton team beat Sacred Heart in Princeton's home opener by eight points. Wendell Lalugba had a breakout game, scoring 22 points in just his third career game. He also grabbed a career-high 9 rebounds. "I am really starting to get a feel for the game. Everything is going for me right now and I hope I can keep up my performance and help this team come time for conference play," explained Wendell Lalugba about his performance. Renardo Rodriguez tallied 13 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists in the game. Martin Sow (9 points, 10 rebounds) just missed a double-double as he was a force down low as was Ferdinand Djordic as he ended with 17 points and 7 rebounds.

      Princeton is now 2-1.

Princeton Runs Rider Out of the Building

      11/11/09 vs. Rider

      Final: 76-59

"We took control early on and really exploded in the second half as we obliterated them in the second half en route to a very nice 17 point victory. I was able to rest our starters in the latter stages in the game, which was nice as we don't want any of our key players getting hurt," commented Coach Frizzell. Wendell Lalugba once again had a huge game as he tallied 18 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists, and 3 steals. Ferdinand Djordic was also key as he scored 18 points and grabbed 6 rebounds down low in the paint. Martin Sow once again just missed a double-double as he ended with 8 points, 11 rebounds, and 3 assists. Renardo Rodriguez continued his consistent play with 14 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 assists. Lincoln Gunn came off the bench to nail a couple of big threes as he ended with a season-high 10 points.

      Princeton is now 3-1.

      Press Conference

In today's press conference, Coach Frizzell was asked about how he thought his team would do in the upcoming Hawaiian Invitational. "There are a lot of very good teams in the tournament. One of those happens to be the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, who we play in the first round. Washington is nationally ranked and just about every team in the tournament is capable of beating just about anyone. I think it will be a very tough tournament, but I think it will get us ready for March Madness and give us some valuable experience to get us ready for conference play. I also like these sort of tournaments because it lets us see how we stack up against the best of the best out there. We get to see how we play against those power conference teams which we will inevitably have to face if we get far enough into the Big Dance. I am excited about heading to Hawaii and it should be exciting."

Yes, I certainly hope we can repeat.

Right now Lalugba is averaging 18 points per game, 4.5 rebounds per game, and 2.3 assists per game. He is really starring for us and I look forward to playing with his this year. He is certainly a stud in the making!!!

Wow, VERY nice frosh recruit. Its my guess that he is going to take your team to the next level with everyone being back. I am predicting an AMAZING year for you relatively speaking of course. Looking at your team's rankings, I forgot just how bad those tiny teams are as I don't play any of them in my dynasty. This one frosh can make quite a difference. Hopefully this enables you to bring in more like him or propel you to your dream job quickly. good luck but I really don't think you will need it.

            Tigers Shock Yellow Jackets

11/16/09 vs. Georgia Tech (Hawaiian Invitational - 1st Round)

            Final: 84-77

There must be some magic in the air for the Princeton Tigers because they just knocked off the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets who were favored by 15 points in the game. Using good defense and a balanced offense, Princeton took a 39-28 lead at halftime and just held on as Georgia Tech would make a valiant comeback attempt in the second half to close to within seven points as the final buzzer sounded. "I just want to say Georgia Tech is a great team. However, it is hard to beat a team who shot like we did tonight. If my math proves me correct, we shot 61% from the floor tonight. We were hitting everything in sight and that is why we won this ballgame," beamed Coach Frizzell. Freshman standout Wendell Lalugba once again had a huge game as he scored a career-high 25 points. He was on fire as he went 8-13 from the field tonight. Lalugba also tallied 5 rebounds, 4 assist, and 2 steals in the game. Renardo Rodriguez also had another solid game as he contributed 16 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists in the win. Ferdinand Djordic provided a steady force down low as he tallied 15 points, 9 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 blocks. Princeton will take on the Purdue Boilermakers tomorrow after Purdue knocked off the 25th ranked Washington Huskies in the first round.

            Princeton is now 4-1.

Princeton Runs Into a Brick Wall Against Purdue

11/17/09 vs. Purdue (Hawaiian Invitational - 2nd Round)

            Final: 80-95

"We were just outclassed, outmatched, outplayed, and as much as I hate to say it, outcoached in tonight's game. Purdue was clearly the superior team and deserved to move on. We played hard, but we could only do so much against them as they were hitting every shot they put up it seemed," Coach Frizzell commented after his team's 15 point loss the the Boilermakers. Princeton was in the game in the first half and was only behind by one point at halftime, but was boiled by the Boilermakers in the second half as Purdue outscored Princeton 51-37 in the final period. Wendell Lalugba put forth 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 assists in the loss as he continued his spectacular play. Martin Sow picked up his first double-double of the year as he got 12 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 steals in the game. The story of the game, however, was Ferdinand Djordic. After scoring a quick 11 points early in the game, Djordic suffered a severe high ankle sprain. He was out for the remainder of the game and we are awaiting his diagnosis by team doctors.

            Princeton is now 4-2.

Ferdand Djordic Out For 23 Days With Severe High Ankle Sprain

Team doctors announced today that starting center Ferdinand Djordic will be out for 23 days with the severe high ankle sprain that he suffered in the loss to Purdue. "I wish him the very best. My prayers will be with him and I wish him a healthy and happy recovery and hope to see him back out on the court come the middle of December," Coach Frizzell commented about the injury. Coach Frizzell also announced that he will be starting Zach Woolridge in place of the injured Djordic. "He (Woolridge) has plenty of starting experience as he started in my first year here at Princeton and knows the position well. He is a senior and I know he will give it his all as he tries to make the best out of his final year of eligibility," stated Coach Frizzell.

            Princeton Cruises Past the Sooners

11/18/09 vs. Oklahoma (Hawaiian Invitational - 3rd Place Game)

            Final: 79-62

Through a good defensive effort and a nice job by the offense in the second half, Princeton was able to overcome a slow start to explode to score 51 points in the second half to knock off the Oklahoma Sooners. For the first time in his career, Coach Frizzell implored a 2-1-2 zone after his team was demolished on the glass in the first half as they were behind 31-28. Coach Frizzell commented about his switch to the 2-1-2 zone, "I think when we went to the 2-1-2 it threw them off guard and we were able to seize the opportunity. The 2-1-2 zone is something we have practiced a little bit in practice, but I really did not expect to use it in a game. After we were murdered on the boards in the first half I felt I had to do something. The 2-1-2 gave us a better chance of getting the rebounds and we actually played some pretty good on ball defense as well. I think we may use it again as it was pretty successful today." Wendell Rodriguez once again was the top scorer in the game as he tallied 21 points and 4 rebounds. He also went 4-6 from downtown. Renardo Rodriguez was a terror in the passing lanes as he recorded 5 steals to go along with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Martin Sow tallied 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists. Lincoln Gunn came off the bench to score 10 points and grab a couple rebounds. Zach Woolridge did a phenomenal job rebounding the basketball as he grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds in the game. He also scored 8 points and blocked 2 shots.

Princeton is now 5-2 and finishes in third place of the Hawaiian Invitational.
            -------------------------------------------------------------------------
            Press Conference

Coach Frizzell was asked in a press conference today how he felt about his team's performance in the Hawaiian Classic. "I felt we turned heads to be honest. There were a lot of great teams in this tournament and to finish in third place in such a prestigious tournament is quite an accomplishment in my eyes. We knocked off two very good teams in Georgia Tech and Oklahoma and hung tough with Purdue in the first half. I was impressed and I hope it is a signal of things to come for us."

Coach Frizzell was also asked about how he felt about standout freshman Wendell Lalugba's performance so far. "What can I say? He has been amazing! I knew he would be a stud, but I did not think he would come in so quickly and take over the game. He is scoring 20.1 points per game right now and leads the Ivy League in that category. He can do it all on offense: shoot, drive, grab rebounds, get to the foul line. He can do it all. His defense isn't too shabby either."

            Mid-Major Top 25 News

The new mid-major top 25 poll came out today and Princeton was ranked 25th on the poll. "I am glad to get back into there," commented Coach Frizzell. "I really think we are starting to gain some respect nationally. I just hope our team doesn't get too overconfident like last time and drop an easy game so we drop out. Just because we are ranked in the mid-major poll doesn't make us any better. We must always try our best and play to our greatest ability because, if we don't, we will most certainly lose and that's not what we're after here."

Yeah, he reminds me of Lebron a little bit in the fact that he can do it all: score at will, rebound pretty well, and dish out some pretty good passes. He is not as good as Lebron and his shot type is totally different, but still. He is good at everything. He is also pretty big at 6'7 for the small forward position considering I am in the Ivy League where a lot of centers are at that height.

Yeah, I have a feeling that with the way we played in the Hawaiian Invitational we could go undefeated in the Ivy League this season. I am not guaranteeing it, because we will probably slip up somewhere, but we shall see. When I have Lalugba in there, our offense does great. When I take him out our offense is so-so, but not the same as when we have "Mr. Do-It-All" in there. That should be Lalugba's new nickname, haha!

                Tigers Topple Bulls

                11/25/09 vs. South Florida

                Final: 73-65

Princeton used a balanced attack to pummel the South Florida defense and held on late to grab the win. The Tigers had four players in double-figures in the game as the basketball was shared well. "We shared the basketball well and I think that was the key of the win. Combine that with good defense and you have yourself a win," stated Coach Frizzell. Wendell Lalugba led the way with 19 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists. Guards Marcus Schroeder (10 points) and Renardo Rodriguez (15 points, 3 rebounds, 4 assists) both paced the offense well as they helped distribute the ball to everyone. Martin Sow tallied 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 assists. Zach Woolridge grabbed a career-high 19 rebounds in the win, but only had 4 points in the game.

                Princeton is now 6-2.

                Tigers Pummeled by Marquette

                11/28/09 @ Marquette

                Final: 71-93

"No one really expected us to win this game. I thought we would have a chance if we played perfectly, but it didn't happen as we were beat down in the second half after only trailed by five points at the half. They just had too much talent and the crowd was far too hostile for us to win," explained Coach Frizzell. The hostile crowd did not stop Wendell Lalugba from recording his first career double-double, however, as he recorded 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 10 assists in the loss. Martin Sow finished with 20 points and 3 rebounds while Zach Woolridge was also a force down low collecting 12 points and 8 rebounds in the game.

                Princeton is now 6-3.

Despite the loss to Marquette, Princeton moved up one spot in the mid-major poll to the 24th spot. "We are happy with the ranking, as usual, but we must not let it get into our heads," stated Coach Frizzell.

                Recruiting News

                11/29/09 - Signing Day

2khoops.com analyst Lee Williamson reports that Diamond Zahn out of Brooklyn, New York, is heading to Princeton. Zahn is a three star rated JUCO point guard. Williamson stated, "This appears to be a huge signing for Frizzell. With Marcus Schroeder departing as he graduates after the season, Coach Frizzell was in desperate need of signing a point guard and I think he found a pretty good one in this JUCO freshman. Nothing sticks out about Zahn, but he looks to be a pretty solid player and a good replacement for Marcus Schroeder."

A look at Coach Frizzell's recruit:

                Tigers Roll Over Southern Illinois

                12/2/09 @ Southern Illinois

                Final: 88-65

Princeton was favored in the game, but most people did not expect the Tigers to roll over Southern Illinois by 23 points. Five Tigers scored in double-figures tonight as everyone was firing on all cylinders. "We all played together as one. Wendell (Lalugba) led the way. He displays great leadership for a freshman and it's a joy to have him on this team," beamed Coach Frizzell. Wendell Lalugba drilled 4-6 from three and got 25 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists as he was dominant as has become routine. Renardo Rodriguez tallied 17 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists. Martin Sow (12 points, 9 rebounds) and Zach Woolridge (12 points, 7 rebounds) were dominant forces down low while Lincoln Gunn came from off the bench to go 2-3 from three and tally 10 points and 2 assists.

                Princeton is now 7-3.

Nittany Lions Too Good For Princeton

                      12/9/09 @ Penn State

                      Final: 78-87

"We kept it close early as we actually had the game tied at halftime. In the second half their offense was lights out and they pulled away to grab a win in Happy Valley," Coach Frizzell explained about his team's nine point loss by the hands of the Penn State Nittany Lions. In the loss Wendell Lalugba continued his stellar play as he collected 20 points, 3 rebounds, and 4 assists. Martin Sow didn't have a great rebounding night with only 4, but scored 18 points. Renardo Rodriguez had a good night as he scored 15 and dished out 4 assists. He also got to the foul line 9 times and knocked down 7 from the charity stripe.

                      Princeton is now 7-4.

Princeton Bounces Back to Squeak by Iona

                      Final: 64-60

Iona came out on fire early as Princeton seemed to be having memories of the Penn State loss filling their heads as the Iona Gaels grabbed a 30-26 halftime lead. However, strong play in the second half powered the Princeton Tigers past the Iona Gaels preventing the upset and securing the home victory. "We came out playing horribly early. I have the boys quite a speech at halftime and they responded well as we played how I expected of them in the second half," commented Coach Frizzell. Wendell Lalugba just missed recording his second career double-double as he tallied 17 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists, and 2 steals. Renardo Rodriguez only went 2-11 from the field, but made 6-6 from the foul line to end with 10 points. Martin Sow had a good all around game as he got 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists. Damien Allen, a rare scorer, came off the bench to surprise the crowd with 13 points and 7 rebounds in the win.

                      Princeton is now 8-4.

Thundering Herd Too Much For Tigers

                      12/19/09 @ Marshall

                      Final: 65-68

For Coach Frizzell this was a bit of a homecoming as he used to live in the Huntington, West Virginia area. "I used to live in Hurricane, WV which is about 30 minutes from Huntington," explained Coach Frizzell. With family and friends attending Coach Frizzell didn't get much of a homecoming as his Tigers lost to the favored Thundering Herd by just three points. Princeton trailed by nine at the half, but had a chance to tie the game on a last second shot that would have sent the game to overtime. "I decided to try to get the ball to Wendell (Lalugba) since he had been hot all game. We got him an open three, but he missed it and we lost the game. It's hard to hit those sort of shots, so I don't fault him. Marshall was just too talented and I salute Coach Jones for the team he has built here in Huntington," beamed Coach Frizzell. Wendell Lalugba did have a good game as he tallied 24 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Martin Sow tallied a double-double as he got 12 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 assists. Upon returning from his severe high ankle sprain, Ferdinand Djordic tallied 12 points and 6 rebounds in the loss. Renardo Rodriguez also scored 9 points as he went 4-4 from the field. Rodriguez also grabbed 4 rebounds and got 3 assists.

                      Princeton is now 8-5.

                      Mid-Major Top 25 Poll

With the loss to Marshall, Princeton drops out of the mid-major top 25 poll after climbing up as far as 17th just two weeks prior. Unfortunately, Princeton has dropped two of their last three games as their record now stands at 8-5. "We have had some tough opponents the last few games and we just have not been able to close the deal. We'll be looking to get back into the poll later this season and we will continue to play hard," stated Coach Frizzell.

Are you playing all these games? Man, I wish I could move that fast through my dynasty! Nice job by the way, I think you are one recruit away from outclassing your conference. Will be interesting to see how long you stay at this school.

Yep, I am playing them all. I'm not a very busy guy, anyways, and I believe this is the only game that I have inserted into my Xbox 360 console in the last two weeks. I haven't even played Call of Duty 4! I usually can get 1-2 games done a day during weekdays and 3 games done per day on weekends. Some days I don't play at all while others I may play 5 games in a single night if I stay up real late playing. Basically, I play a lot.

Thanks. I really think we can dominate the conference this year, too. Lalugba can carry this team. We look to be having another good recruiting class next year, as well, and I will have to have a recruiting update soon. I am recruiting two 6'11 centers, one a 2 star (A sure lock) and another a 3 star (We are tied for 1st). We need some height and a good back-up big man as Zach Woolridge is a senior. I also have a 6'4 SF locked up as well, but he may be transferred to shooting guard and I may move Renardo Rodriguez to point guard next season with Marcus Schroeder's departure. I am recruiting a 3 star PG, though, so if I can get him and he pans out well my 6'4 SF may just end up being Lalugba's backup. We shall see...

Oh, so you are playing. I thought this was coach mode. I'm in the same boat as you with COD4. I've had it for maybe 3 weeks and have played it a total of 5 times and it's an incredible game but I can't put down CH 2K8

Yeah, I am playing all the games, not coaching. The title does say "coaching legacy", but I just meant that I was the coach, though I still would be playing. I should have clarified.

I have tried coach mode and want to like it, but I guess I like to be in total control of the players. It really is neat, though, I just want to have full control by playing.

Yeah, I got COD4 in December, but haven't played it much because of CH 2K8. I have beaten most of the game, but still have to beat the hardest level. I haven't even ventured online yet except for one time.

                                Princeton Overwhelms Central Connecticut State

                                12/27/09 @ Central Connecticut State

                                Final: 74-47

"The key to tonight's win was our domination of the glass and our willingness to pass the basketball and get open buckets," beamed Coach Frizzell after his team's 27 points whipping of Central Connecticut State. Princeton outrebounded Central Connecticut State 49-39 and recorded 21 assists to Central Connecticut State's 7. Wendell Lalugba, otherwise known as "Mr. Do-It-All", recorded 21 points, 6 rebounds, and 8 assists in the blowout. Renardo Rodriguez tallied 11 points and a career-high 8 rebounds. He also tallied 4 assists and 3 steals. Ferdinand Djordic (13 points, 11 rebounds) was a beast down low as he dominated the low block along with Martin Sow (8 points, 7 rebounds). Lincoln Gunn came off the bench to nail 3 three pointers and tallied 11 points in the game.

                                Princeton is now 9-5

                                Final: 75-55

Princeton used a balanced attack to overwhelm Colgate as Princeton wins it's second game in a row, each by over 20 points. Wendell Lalugba continued his domination by recording 19 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. Renardo Rodriguez tallied 10 points and 5 rebounds while Martin Sow picked up 12 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. Lincoln Gunn had another double-digit scoring night coming off the bench as he nailed a couple of threes to tally 10 points and 2 rebounds in the game. With the win, Coach Frizzell wins his 49th game of his career. He will look for #50 next week against Bucknell. "I am not concerned about personal records," Coach Frizzell stated. "I just want to win next week. If that means winning my 50th career game, then so be it, but it's not my main focus right now. My main focus, as always, is winning.

                                Princeton is now 10-5

Martin Sow's Triple-Double Helps Coach Frizzell to His 50th Career Win

                                Final: 71-54

"I am honored to be able to win my 50th career game on my home floor. This really is no big deal to me as it is just another game, but it was fitting to do it at home. We played great tonight and the key, without a doubt, to tonight's big win over Bucknell, who was ranked 14th in the mid-major poll, was Martin Sow's amazing triple-double," Coach Frizzell stated after winning his 50th career game. Martin Sow did impress as he picked up his first triple-double of his career and becomes Coach Frizzell's first player to accomplish the feat. The 6'8 power forward recorded 16 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists as he was scoring, rebounding, and finding the open man all game long. "He did it all," Coach Frizzell explained. In addition to Sow's performance, Wendell Lalugba had another solid game as he totaled 17 points and 3 rebounds. Renardo Rodriguez had another surprising rebounding night as the 6'3 shooting guard grabbed 7 rebounds in the game. He also scored 10 points and dished out 3 assists. Lincoln Gunn had another superb game coming off the bench as he tallied 14 points off of 5-10 shooting and 4-7 from three point range.

                                Princeton is now 11-5.

                                Princeton Easily Blows Past Longwood

                                Final: 78-45

"Longwood is probably the weakest team we will play this season, but I still feel we played very well. I don't care how weak our opponent is; it's hard to beat someone by 33 points no matter who you play." After acquiring a 49-20 halftime lead, Coach Frizzell was able to rest his starters for the second half as his Tigers went on to win by 33 points over the Longwood Lancers. Renardo Rodriguez led all scorers as he tallied 17 points off of 7-10 shooting. Wendell Lalugba had his first career game under 15 points, but still had a very good game considering his limited playing time, as he tallied 14 points to go along with 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Martin Sow (9 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists) and Ferdinand Djordic (10 points, 6 rebounds) were beasts down low and helped Princeton jump out to the 29 point halftime lead. Lincoln Gunn had his fourth straight game of 10 or more points as he tallied 12 points an 4 rebounds. Zach Woolridge (4 points, 10 rebounds) and Damien Allen (8 rebounds) used the best of their extended playing time due to the blowout to rack up plenty of rebounds as they dominated the boards.

                                Princeton is now 12-5.

"Well, I definitely think we have a good chance, but the Ivy League looks better than it has in years past. The conference now boasts an RPI rank of 11 out of the 31 division 1 conferences after being ranked 23rd just one season ago. I'm sure of our RPI of 45 helps, but still. Cornell (12-7) and Columbia (13-7) look like they could put up quite a fight. Penn (9-8) and Dartmouth (9-7) don't look too shabby either. It should be fun."
