Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"

Read the thread from top to bottom over the last few days & love it. I am not a huge NBA guy (college is my game), but your pictures, writing, previews, and trade updates, have gotten me pretty immersed.

I really like how you noted teams ages in the previews & their windows of opportunity. It's a lot of fun to see how rosters progress and if/when they fall short or exceed the goals the front office set out to achieve. It's also cool to have a really young, talented roster, with minimal expectations and the sky as the limit.

The draft is what mainly kept me going & Bol Bol could not have been a better choice. 22 boards in his debut? 8'1" wingspan? ONE NAME? Future legend.

      Georgiafan's Ramblings

You may have noticed I have posted a lot of stuff over the last 2 weeks. Me and my girlfriend recently broke up and this has helped kill time and give me something to do on weekends. I am not like depressed or anything, but this has definitely helped give me something to do. So all the comments and reading really do matter.

I have been working on a custom made expansion team and I hope to have that debuted tomorrow. I found the perfect logo for it without a background on it and then when I edited the size to upload to 2k the background came back up. Since I couldn't figure out how to remove the background I just painted the background to be the color of the court. It may look like something a 8 year old will do, but since its a logo for a CPU team it will have to work unless one of yall can help me out.

The team I made is something that wouldn't really happen in the NBA, but Its something that holds a special place in my heart so I'll have fun with it. I have a storyline and rival that will come pre made once I debut the team. If any of yall follow this industry I made the team after be sure and let me know.

I will look for a pre made team for me 2nd team since I am a southern boy I'll prob go with Carolinas or Kentucky. Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Before the season I went and edited the shot tendency for all the teams in the league. The results have been better, but still not exactly where I want them to be. So I went and upped them even more after the season started In general my goal was to change them for all the young guys and help them score more. I also changed defense tendency's and touches for a lot of people.

The scoring for CPU vs CPU games is still a little to low. I am going to change every team to "shot at will "as someone on here said that would help. I have also upped the minutes to about 37 for all the key players on a team as I think I had them to low to start with.

The scoring when I play the whole game from start to finish is still to high. The issue is that overall the sliders I have work for me as every game I play is not a automatic win. What I have been doing is using super sim for the first quarter and then jumping in and playing the rest of the game if its close. That way the score is more realistic and cuts down on the time it takes to play a game. In general I super sim the games and jump in if its close in the 4th quarter.

Since its obvious my team is going to make the playoffs and what should be a long playoff run. I don't think I will do anymore lengthy game recaps and just save those for the playoffs. I think I will go back to doing the score and a few sentences with stats from here on out. I might wait a few more weeks before I start doing those.

The short articles I do with a few pictures is something I will continue to do during the regular season. They are quick to type up and helps people know when news breaks and it doesn't take much time to read.

If there is something you really enjoy or don't enjoy reading as much feel free to let me know. I am at over 5,00 views so would love to get to the first page which is about 30,000

I am having as much fun with this team / game as I ever have with any sports game (I am 35) so I don't see me slowing down anytime soon. Simmons and Embiid together are very fun to use and then adding Bol Bol to the team was just perfect. Everyone needs to draft him I cant wait till a few years down the road and see how my big 4 develops.

Thanks for the kind words I am glad you took so much time out to read everything that I posted.

When I started doing all the team previews it ended up taking more time then I expected and wanted it to take. It really helped me get to know the teams in the league and now I know what direction I need to take those teams. So I am glad I took the time to do it now.

I am a hawks fan in real life and always use them just with them being so bad and the 76ers so intriguing. I decided to take a break and now I don't know if I'll ever be able to go back to using the Hawks unless they land a stud rookie.

Bol Bol is so fun to use and by the time I am doing with this whenever people see his name I want them to think of this dynasty. With his 8'1 wingspan he gets like every board unless its someone with similar length or a elite rebounding Center. Its also just really cool to say/ type Bol Bol lol

I haven't posted anything on the draft yet, but I am using the draft class with the younger Ball so they will be some real players in it also.

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"

IF Embiid isn't a All Star We Should Riot

Embiid has yet to make a all star team so no virtual dates with Rihanna to speak of just yet. He is in the middle of a great season and even though the East frontcourt is crowded he no doubt deserves to be on the all-star team.

Lebron and Antetokounmpo are locked in at two of the starters and are two of the NBA’s best players. Lebron playing in his 1st year in New York nobody so nobody is going to complain about them being starters.

Porzingis is averaging over 20 and 8 a game while playing in a big market on a team that has one of the best records in the conference so he should also make it. Ben Simmons has made the all-star team in his first two seasons and he has improved his numbers this year so he is your 4th lock to make it.

The Pacers aren’t having a good year as a team and currently not in the playoffs. Myles Turner has missed most of the year so Victor Oladipo was forced to score more. Victor is putting up a lot of points with 22 a game. He doesn’t have many other stats to go along with the points and his team isn’t as good as the 76ers. However he is considered to be a good defense player. Would you have him on the team over Embiid?

This is the one that has everyone upset because Embiid beats Mark Gasol in pretty much every category plus his team has a better record. How does Gasol have more then 200,000 votes then Embiid? Even his teammate Kevin Love isn’t far behind in the votes. Gasol is not only ahead of Embiid he is close to jumping Simmons and Porzingis in votes.

Embiid has improved his scoring from 15.9 to 18.6 and his 10.7 rebounds are 2nd in the NBA. He is also is having a great year on defense and is currently 2nd in the Defense Player of the Year race. There is no doubt to us that he needs to get the 5th spot in the east front court and make his 1st all star team. What do you think ?

Oh, nice trade by the Warriors -- I think Waiters Island is going to have a blast out there in California.

Disappointing injury to Fultz, but he should be back in time for the playoffs, so no biggie -- your depth is your saving grace at this point. If you can manage to keep Embiid healthy, you'll be in good shape.

Speaking of Embiid, he should definitely be ranked above Gasol. Porzingis is getting a boost due to the LeBron effect, but he's injured so you might sneak in there as an All-Star reserve because of it. Seeing Ben Simmons and the Greek Freak up there does warm the heart though -- I think those two will be battling it out for the mantle of the successor to King James.

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"

              Top 3 Surprises

              De'aaron Fox
The Kings are headed in the right direction this year and next they should be able to push for a playoff spot. De'aaron Fox is having a breakout year as his scoring is up from 17 to 22 and his assist from 5 to 8. He is also shooting better from the field and from 3. If he can keep up these numbers the Kings will be one to watch this summer with another high draft pick and cap space. He should make his first ever all star team this year.

              Pelicans
The first thing that you may notice is Anthony Davis having a down year individually. The more important news is the Pelicans are 20-12 and have a chance to get the #1 seed. They have some expiring contracts if they want to make a trade for some more help at SG & SF. Holliday has been hurt and they have overcome that with Derrick Rose playing well. They have two old school bigs in Randolph and Al Jefferson backing up the big 2. It will be interesting to see if they stand pat with team chemistry high or make a move.

              Magic / Romeo Langford
Nobody expected the Magic to be way above .500 in January as going into year they had unproven C's and PG was a weakness. The rookie Romeo Langford has exceeded expectations with close to 18 points per game. We expect they will come down to earth, but just making the playoffs will be a good year. Its a interesting roster going forward, but as long as Langford can play like this then the rest will work itself out.

              Top 3 Disappointments

              Suns
When the season started many expected the Suns to be a dark horse championship contender. They had perfect mix of veterans and young players with a few years experience and even a highly rated coach. The are currently 13 and 23 and a long way away from even getting the 8th spot. They are 2nd to last in Points with 93.4 and dead last in rebounds. Its hard to see Mike Conley signing back with this team unless things change quick.

              Heat
Injuries have played a big role for the heat stilll 7 and 27 in the east isn't going to cut it. They have started off selling assets with the recent trade of Waiters and we expect more moves to be made. I don't expect them to go full rebuild and trade Whiteside. If they land a elite rookie they could be a force next year. They need to find a way to trade Johnson and Olynyk to try and land a max level FA.

              Nets
Last yeas feel good story was the Nets getting into the playoffs as the 8th seed and playing the 76ers tough. This year the train fell off the tracks early and it hasn't recovered with a 10 and 23 record. To be fair Deangelo Russell has missed the majority of the year. It could be a blessing if they are able to land a top draft pick as they don't have the talent to win the east.

Re: 2k18 - 76ers "the process needs results"

5 Big Names That Could be Traded

                Goran Dragic
Interested Teams - Pistons, Rockets, Spurs

He is on the last year of his contract and the heat are trying to tank to bring in Lamelo Ball. They are currently 7-27 and in prime spot to land a top 5 pick so trading Dragic would be a big step toward that. Its going to be interesting to see which team trades a PG first the heat or the Clippers. The heat aren't looking to take back on any salary and teams will not want to trade a 1st round pick for him. The heat might have to settle for pennies on the $ for him.

                Deandre Jordan
Interested Teams - Lakers, Knicks, Trailblazers

Everybody knows what he brings to the table and the Clippers are looking to start a rebuild as they sit 12-21. Jordan is now 31 and under contract for a few more years at a high price. The problem with trading Jordan is he makes over 30 million so its going to be hard to make the salaries match up. A ton of teams will call about him and the new look Knicks and Lakers would love to have him. It might take trading a starting center, a 10 + million expiring deal and a future draft pick. The Trailblazers are a team that could make this type of offer.

                Patrick Beverly
Interested Teams - Spurs, Timberwolves, Pistons, Magic

He is over 30 and holds a player option for next year and is still one of the best defense G's in the NBA. If there is a team capable of pulling off a trade for both Jordan and Beverly it would be the Orlando Magic. He would be a nice addition to a playoff team and even If he accepts his player option his defense should still be worth paying over 10 million for.

                Enes Kanter
Interested Teams - Suns, Lakers, Magic

Kanter was brought back to the Jazz and it was never a perfect fit so that's why he only signed a 1 year deal. The Jazz are on the playoff bubble at 18-18 and if they don't move up the standings soon his price tag should be pretty low. A expiring deal plus a few 2nd's should get the deal done. He would bring some rebounding and scoring to a playoff teams 2nd unit.

                Danilo Gallinari
                Interested Teams - Rockets

Right now the offer to beat for him is Ryan Anderson's expiring contract and a 2nd round pick. He is still out for a few more weeks with a injury so unless a better offer comes along the Clippers will likely pull the trigger. Since he is on the final year of his deal and most playoff teams being set at SF there isn't a big need for him unless a injury happens.

Yea I think the Warriors trade makes them a lot better this year and sits them up this offseason to bring back Green and Bell.

Yea Fultz was having a big year, but this allows more playing time for Sexton and T.J. So as long as I don't suffer another big injury I'll be fine.

I'm gonna be pissed if Embiid doesn't make the all star team lol

                    Award Races - Jan. 2019

I haven't gave a lot of attention to award races, but since I have players in the running for all awards I figured this would the time to change that. Be sure to check back at the first of every month for the update on who is in the lead.

                    MVP
The MVP goes through Westbrook who is having another huge year. Its great to see Ben as a candidate and as along as he can keep his assist over 7 and his team the #1 seed he should be in the top 5. His scoring this year will not be enough to jump the guys ahead of him. It would be cool to see Lebron win at 35 for his new team.

                    Rookie
The biggest surprise is #1 overall pick R.J Barret not being listed despite a good rookie year. Its nice to see the unknown Spurs PG make the list after he was signed from the G league. This is going to be a tight battle and its anyone guess who wins it with 3 rookies scoring more then 17 a game.

                    Defense Player
Embiid has made it known he wants to win this award and faces some familiar names with Green, Gobert and Jordan. It will be interesting to see If Deandre Jordan being potential traded has a effect on this race. Embiid has the rebounding and block stats to win this award if he can stay healty. This is the award the 76ers have the best shot at wining.

                    6th Man
It is a surprise to see two rookies battle it out for this award and its a interesting twist with Romeo Langord and Bol Bol battling it out since they was traded for each other this past draft. Wth the success the Magic are having Romeo will likely stay in his role getting big minutes off the bench. Bol Bol being in the running for two awards is a great sign for the future.

                    Most Improved
I don't see how De'arron Fox isn't in the top 5 for this award. This is one we expect to see a lot of changes as Fultz will soon drop off as he is hurt. The young PF for the Spurs is also resting for a few weeks. They are a lot of people that deserve to win this award so its the most wide open race we have.

                      NBA Update 1-15-19

The Pistons made it to the finals last year and preseason power rankings had them in the bottom 5. They are for the 3rd straight year one of the east best teams

The Warriors have gone on a win streak since the trade of Waiters so look for them to be a top seed by the next update.

The Bucks are a disappointment, but have to much talent to stay down long

The magic have came back to earth and down to the 7th seed. Does this help or hurt the chances of making a big trade ?

The 5 to 10 spots in the east are very close keep a eye on the hawks have a tradable pieces and the cap space this year to take on a bigger salary.

The Celtics are finally having a good regular season and own the Grizzles pick which is looking like it will be top 3.

                        1st Expansion Team announced

The NBA announced today the first of two expansion teams and it will be the first team not in the US as Cozumel Mexico is surprisingly awarded a team. This gives the NBA a chance to grow to a new audience and continue their growth in countries outside the United States.

If you don’t follow the cruise ship industry they are two major players Royal Caribbean and Carnival with both companies also owning smaller cruise lines. The two companies are always competing against each other to see who has the biggest and best ships and how to get people to choose their cruise line in a industry with a ton repeat customers. The cruise industry continues to grow in popularity as everyone realizes it’s the cheapest way to travel. Its something that’s fun for all ages as its able to offer a stress free environment with no worries mixed in with a bunch of food and sunshine.

Carnival Cruise lines were founded by Ted Arison and many people don’t realize that his son Mickey is the owner of the Miami Heat and still the company's Chairman. He has owned the Heat since 1995. Royal Caribbean has saw there stock price in 1 year go from 86$ a share to 134$ so that’s allowed them have the $ to get a expansion NBA team. The two companies that battle it out in the Cruise Industry will now take the battle to the NBA.

If you ever been on a cruise before then odds are you have visited Cozumel, Mexico as its one of the most popular ports of call.

When asked RCCL CEO Michael Beasley said "We thought it was fitting to get adds for the arena from cruise related companies. We thought the name Cozumel Cruises had a good ring to it since the cruise industry is the #1 source of income for the area. Since it will be some time before we debut everyone go check out our new ship Symphony Of The Seas"

The court will be a bit different then we are use to seeing so it could rub some traditional people the wrong way. We haven't heard officially what division they will play at, but the league office did confirm it will be in the Eastern Conference. Its only fitting that the Miami Heat and The Cozumel Cruisers be in the same conference and eventually battle it out for playoffs against each other. We haven't heard yet who the 2nd team will be and the rumors say it will be a team from the south or Alaska. We will post back later when we confirm what year the Cozumel Cruisers will debut

                        * my skills at making stuff isn't the best so It may look tacky and that's why I didn't post pics of the uniforms lol

                            Trade Alert

                            Clippers 20 - 29 (12th in west)
                            Rockets 33-16 (2nd in west)

The Clippers had been rumored to start selling assets for a while and with the recent injury to Blake Griffin who will miss the rest of the year it became a no brainer. Gallinari is in the final year of his deal and so is Ryan Anderson so that's a wash. This moves opens up minutes at SF for Sam Dekker and Dzana Musa who are much younger. They get a pair of 2nd round picks for a player that was likely gone at the end of the year. This trade should help result in a better draft pick.

The Rockets are once again one of the best teams in the west and have to find a way to get past the Warriors. The bench needs some work and they don't have any assets to make a major move. Eric Gordan is injuired for another month and there is no insurance plan incase Rudy Gay gets hurt again. They will not miss the 2nd rounders and Gallinari provides much needed depth and the rockets get a few months to decide who should start at SF between him and Gay.

After Fox went up to 17 points a game his sophomore year I went and upped his shot tendency rating which helps out in sim games. His overall rating had already gone up and he was the clear #1 scorer on the team so I thought it made sense. I think hield is at like 14 a game. I'll screenshot some stuff on the kings sometime this weekend and post them

                                Clippers 20 - 29 (12th in west)
                                Pistons 32-17 (3rd in east)

Incase your new the Pistons have been one of the best teams in the east the last 3 years and made it to the finals last year beating the 76ers along the way. They have once again exceeded expectations at 32-17 and currently the #3 seed.

While most teams will look at what they struggle at it make a trade for someone that improves that area that isn't what the Pistons are doing. Just like 2 years ago when they made a trade for Faried the Pistons are doubling down on defense. The are 1st in the NBA in defense with 96.2 points allowed and everyone knows that's what Patrick Beverly excels at. Langston Galloway wasn't capable of leading this team to a title so this strengths the one weak spot on the bench. The 1st round pick they trade is lottery protected and should end up in the 20's. The Pistons will still have a 1st round pick as they own one from the Celtics.

The Pistons are going to be a nightmare to face on defense with Beverly, Bradley, Drummond and Stanly Johnson. He may not see playing time. but don't overlook Sullinger who can provide minutes if a injury happens. The Pistons should be able to bring back Beverly at a decent price this summer if he opts out as this is a great spot for him.

Beverly has a player option and both players the Clippers got back in return are on expiring deals so this could potential save about 14 million next year. Beverly is 31 so he isn't going to help this rebuilding Clippers team this year or next. The late 1st round pick they get will add another young player and they had to many 2nd round picks this year.
