Yeah, they had a really surprising year. 8-4 is not bad at all for them. It must be the success of your Wyoming dynasty carrying over to Wyoming in mine!

                          Hail to the Losers!!!
West Virginia Wins Sugar Bowl 31-23

                          23 -- (8-4)
                          31 -- (11-1)

                          New Orleans, LA - "
The Mountaineers have beaten the Michigan Wolverines!" was the talk of New Year's Day. West Virginia went up against tradition, pride, and a coach who betrayed them the previous year. Though the Mountaineers were favored to win, many thought they were still a cupcake team from the crappy Big East whom the Wolverines would thoroughly dominate. They were wrong.

Early on, it looked as if they were right, though. West Virginia fell behind 17-0 early and 20-3 at halftime. West Virginia had mustered a mere 63 yards of total offense at halftime ans star runningback Jason Colson had 13 yards rushing.

Bill Stewart must have said something in the locker room at halftime, because the Mountaineers came out on fire in the 2nd half. Bendarik dumped off a 3 yard screen pass to Brandon Myles to make the score 20-10 early in the 3rd quarter. Towards the end of the 3rd, Bednarik released a 37 yard bomb, which landed in the hands of Rayshawn Bolden for another touchdown to make the score 20-17 Wolverines as the 3rd quarter ended.

Michigan would drive right down the field early in the 4th quarter and would kick a field goal to make the score 23-17 Wolverines. West Virginia got the ball back and methodically drove the ball up the field. The Mountaineers converted on a key 4th down attempt near midfield as backup quarterback Pat White got the first down off a quarterback draw. The Mountaineers would run the ball efficiently with Jason Colson to get to the 21 yard line where they would face a key 3rd and 12 attempt. Adam threw a beautiful arching touchdown pass to junior tight end Brad Palmer to make the score tied at 23. Colby Jones nailed the extra point to make it 24-23. Michigan would get the ball back, but Michigan's fullback fumbled the ball at the 20 yard line to hand the ball back to West Virginia. Pat White ran in on an option play with a minute and a half left to make it 31-23. Michigan quarterback Chad Henne would proceed to fumble the ball giving the ball back to West Virginia at the 24 yard line. West Virginia would line up in the victory formation 3 times before claiming the victory over the Michigan Wolverines in the 2006 All-State Sugar Bowl!!!

The Mountaineers only mustered 273 yards of total offense in the win and 170 rushing yards, but they stilled mustered out the victory. Michigan gained 285 yards of total offense in the game. The Mountaineers sacked Chad Henne 4 times in the game, including the late game fumble that all but put the game away. Though Michigan only committed 2 turnovers, they were both key, as they sealed Michigan's fate in the game.

Jason Colson was the lone star on the Mountaineer offense. Though only getting 13 rushing yards in the entire 1st half, he got 107 2nd half rushing yards as he finished the game with 120. He also passed the 2,000 yard rushing mark on the season during the game. Adam Bednarik also passed the 2,000 yard milestone for passing yards for the game as well.

With the win, the Mountaineers get revenge on Michigan and finish the season 11-1 (7-0). Now comes recruiting and the offseason for the Mountaineers.

                          Code:
                                         1st 2nd 3rd 4th OT Final
                          Michigan 10 7 3 3 -- 23
