I have a question about the Super Bowl, sorry its a little late for it, but.... I was wonderin, how'd you miss a extra point attempt? Just wonderin.....
Congrats on your great season BTW!

Hey thanks for the compliments. I missed the XP because I was stupid and accidentally moved the arrow and then hit the buttons too fast on the meter. It was definitely MY fault and not the kicker's. It was my own stupidity. Don't know how to explain it other than that... just I accidentally leaned on the left joystick which moved the arrow-- that's really the reason I think, as I've screwed up on the meter before but that hasn't caused me to miss the XP.

      Re: Madden 2004: Goldmine

Week 4: Atlanta (0-2) at San Francisco (3-0)
Well... the 49ers continue to play teams with bad records. Again, they came into this one fearing Michael Vick but they themselves were led by Kevan Barlow who had an uncanny, once-in-a-lifetime, career day.

      1st Quarter
On the opening drive, Atlanta's offense looked more than just sloppy as they were forced to punt. The 49ers didn't start much better on offense, as the two teams would trade punts. Finally, on San Fran's next possession, they made it down the field and Kevan Barlow found a nice gaping hole for a 14-yard run. At 7-0, that was just the beginning.

      2nd Quarter
Atlanta managed to get within the 10 yard line, but a tough defense held the Falcons to a 24-yard field goal to make it 7-3. The 49ers next drive looked great as Barlow was doing well running and Garcia went 5/5 for 39 yards. It ended with an 11-yard outside run by Barlow, his second rushing TD of the game. Here things started to go bad for Atlanta. Michael Vick threw an interception to Plummer who ran it back to the Falcons' 25 yard line. On the next play? You guessed it... Barlow- a 25 yard run as he broke three or four tackles and barely got the ball past the goaline to give San Francisco a 21-3 lead. Atlanta started their next drive well, but that ended with another interception, this time by Peter Boulware who returned it to their 40 yard line. On the first play, Beasley was stuffed for no gain. On the second play, Jeff Garcia found Terrell Owens for the 40-yard score! It was 28-3 with just under two minutes remaining. Michael Vick lobbed a pass to Peerless Price who broke away from the defense and wound up going 65 yards for the score. This made it 28-10 and the first half would end that way.

      3rd Quarter
San Francisco opened up the second half with a fumble as Jeff Garcia fumbled the ball at the 26 yard line of the Niners. A strong defensive performance held Atlanta once again to a field goal and they cut the lead to 15 points with a 28-yarder.

      4th Quarter
This was a crazy quarter indeed. The 49ers drove downfield and from the 1 yard line, Jeff Garcia threw a quick out pass to Eric Johnson to make it 35-13. Atlanta's Vick struck big with Price again- this time for a 79-yard hookup as Price outran all the defenders after catching a perfectly-thrown pass. At 35-21, Coach Erickson felt his team had the game in hand and put in QB Ken Dorsey and RB Michael Cooper. On third and long, Cooper was forced to the sideline for a play. With Hearst not warmed up at all, Barlow came in. The result? A massive hole to the outside and he ended up with a 68-yard run for his FOURTH touchdown of the day. It was the only play he was in for in the 4th quarter since the coach had brought in Cooper. Cooper would finish out the game at RB after this one long play. This put San Francisco ahead 42-21. Atlanta wasn't finished as they put together a decent drive that culminated in Vick finding WR LaTarence Dunbar for a 22-yard touchdown. This made the score 42-28. The 49ers would be forced to punt, but Atlanta couldn't get any closer on the scoreboard as Jason Webster intercepted a pass at the Atlanta 28. Jeff Chandler's 36-yard field goal sealed the deal at 45-28.

      FINAL: San Francisco wins 45-28!

      Player of the Game
      RB Kevan Barlow - 21 att, 229 yards, 4 TD - 2 rec, 31 yards

      Key Performances
      QB Jeff Garcia - 109.5, 13/20, 196 yards, 2 TD, INT
TE Eric Johnson - 6 rec, 56 yards, TD
WR Terrell Owens - 3 rec, 60 yards, TD
      QB Ken Dorsey - 28.6, 4/7, 31 yards, 0 TD, INT
RB Michael Cooper - 8 att, 15 yards

      San Francisco 49ers: 4-0

      Next Game: at Arizona (2-1)

Straight From the Coach- On RB Kevan Barlow
"I don't know what to tell you. The guy was just unbelievable out there today and it was just insane watching him hit those holes. A 150+ yard rushing performance alone is an accomplishment in my book but he had over 200 yards rushing *and* four touchdowns! If he continues this level of play, we have a spectacular chance at returning to the Super Bowl."

            Re: Madden 2004: Goldmine

What do you guys think of this idea? Tell me if it's decent, really bad, or good.

Since you can't create players to put in the draft pool, I was thinking of- in the offseason, before the FA signing period- creating some rookies in the FA pool. I would make them fairly good... rookies who would normally have been drafted probably 1st or 2nd round. I will only make like 5-10 of them, and will not allow myself to pick them up. This way, I can have players with names I'll at least recognize and they'll have a chance at doing well in the NFL. Also, it'll allow me to use names I want to use. For instance, if I want to put some friends in the game or something. They wouldn't all be superstars or anything like that. Just good enough to improve CPU teams and I would let the CPU decide whether or not to keep them around. If they end up in the FA pool after being signed, then I would be allowed to pick them up, but the CPU would get to use them first, so it's not like I would be cheating.

What do you guys think? I really want to know your thoughts on whether or not I should do this.

Should I create rookies to put in the FA pool once the offseason rolls around?
            No, it's a horrible idea.
Yes. It wouldn't be cheesy and it's purpose is to help the CPU teams, as well as have players that would be fun to check up on.
I don't care. Do whatever... (If you pick this, please let me know if you think it would be cheesy to do this)
