Re: FSU: The Rebuild and "the Return" (NCAA 2019 Dynasty)

#3 FLORIDA STATE VS #1 GEORGIA TECH

    ESPN ON ABC 8:00 PM/ET
    Houston, Texas

    NOLES/JACKETS II

Last season fans were treated to one heck of a National Championship as the underdog Seminoles pulled off the upset to defeat the undefeated and kings of College Football the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in thrilling fashion, 43-36. It came down to the final drive in the redzone for the Jackets as they failed to complete a 4th and 2 at their own 13 yard line as the Noles pulled off the upset.

This year, we are right back at it. Same teams, same seeding, but different attitudes. Florida State is undoubtedly a better team than they were a year ago. However, so is Georgia Tech. These two teams boast the most talent rich rosters in the country. Florida State having 16 Five-Stars and 30 Four Stars on its roster. A huge turnaround in talent since 3rd year Coach Cameel Verner Sr has come on the scene after literally running the recruiting scene while at Georgia Tech.

While Verner left Tech with an embarrassment of riches, 3rd year Head Coach Matteo Sledge has continued the rampant pace of elite recruiting as Tech has 19 Five-Stars on its roster and 34 Four Stars. So it will definately come down to coaching and who can get the edge in special teams also.

Georgia Tech led by its 3rd year Head Coach Matteo Sledge, was the OC at Georgia Tech for 7 years with Cameel Verner Sr while he was there before Verner left to become the Head Coach at FSU. Matteo Sledge has led an impressive 42-2 record while the Head Coach and has won 1 National Title, the first year he took over as head coach. His first year he went 14-1, and won the National Championship against Miami in the College Football playoff. Last year, he went 14-1 and Lost in the National Championship again against this very same Florida State Seminole team. And right now currently, he's 14-0 playing for his 2nd championship in 3 years. Overall, Georgia Tech has been to the National Championship for 5 consecutive years, and have been playoff contender for 8 straight seasons.

The Noles Head Coach Cameel Verner is 34-7 as the Coach of the Noles after going 8-5 his first season as a the Noles head ball coach. When Verner took over they did not nearly have the talent that he's assembled now. At the time, the Noles had no Five-Stars on the roster. He's literally had to climb from the ground up and he has them competing for their second straight National Championship.

Georgia Tech has 5 projected first rounders on its Defense this season, all deciding to play in the Playoffs and skipping preparation for the NFL Combine. Junior DT Jamarcus June(6'6" 360) , Junior LB Trinidad Pierre-Ohakim(6'4" 245), Junior LB Andrew Miller (6'3" 260), Junior CB Joaquin Hansah-Bello(6'3" 220), and Junior DB Santana Dexter(6'3" 215) all are sure fire first round picks. Jamarcus June had a terriffic Semi Final game being the teams 2nd leading tackler on the night.

On Offense Titus Myrick who also is a standout track Athlete for the Yellow Jackets (10.28 100 meter PR) and carried the ball 28 times for 203 yards against Kentucky in the Semi Final game last week. . WR Dylan Busch (6'4" 215), and Senior WR Tyson Bucker (6'5" 205) are the WRs that really gets this team rolling. And Sophomore WR Tre Glenn (6'6" 210) is a superstud as he led the Yellow Jackets in receiving last week having 6 catches for 105 yards.

For Florida State, QB Clay Tillman will get another start at Quarterback as he's had an outstanding short career so far throwing for over 300 yards in each game in his first 3 starts as a Florida State Seminole. Former Heisman Trophy winner QB Sarderrious Minter will still have a role in the offense similar to last week vs Clemson. But the biggest question is can the Offensive Line of FSU block the front of Georgia Tech who is unquestionably the most talented front they will face to date. And if FSU has a weakness, its along its offensive front.

This game will be a game of talent on talent as both teams are stacked up and down the roster. Ball meets foot Saturday at 8:00 PM eastern on ABC.

Massive comeback in the 4th quarter to grab the victory, didn't look likely for a good chunk of the game! It's never over until the fat lady sings.

Those graphics, we need a new NCAA game.

Thanks for following! Yeah they really had me on the edge of my chair. Georgia Tech is such a damn good team. Especially up front. They really overwhelmed the Offensive Line.

And yes, to your final point, we need the game back so badly

            END OF SEASON RECAP

Very good third season. Two National Titles in 3 years, very hard to do, but was extremely fun and very challenging. Offensive Line is still the weakness of the team, but hopefully we can have a good off season and capitalize off of it. Georgia Tech is still the barometer of college football and you are only as good as them. Honestly, they destroyed me up front, I had literally no run game outside of the QB direct run or scrambles. And with the way they are recruiting, I do not see them slowing up any time soon. So if we are lucky enough to get back , I'm sure we will see them again.

My first recruiting class of this new chapter are now turning Juniors and this is where it will get very interesting. I'm recruiting at a high level but Clemson and Florida isnt far behind either, as well as a NUMBER of teams from the American Athletic Conference (which is now the super conference of college football.) A lot of good content will take place this offseason so I hope you guys enjoy whats to come.

            Conference Bowl Game Records

              OFF-SEASON

The beginning of year 2031 and Year 4 at Florida State begins.

              COACHING CHANGES

A number of coaching changes have taken place this offseason so far for the Florida State staff. For the last 3 years, Head Coach Cameel Verner, Sr has had the luxury of a low turnover rate for his staff. However, this year there will be some shakeups in that aspect. Three Head Coaches have taken different roles elsewhere throughout the country.

Offensive Coordinator/Running Backs Coach Rich Rodriguez

Rich Rod has left the FSU Coaching Staff after serving for 3 seasons as the OC/RB Coach for the Noles. Rich Rod will now be serving as Head Coach for another ACC foe, UNC Tarheels. Tar Heels cam off a 6-7 season last year and let go of Head Coach Mark Finkel. Rich Rod was a huge reason of the explosiveness of FSU the past few seasons.

              Offensive Line Coach Dan Rouchar

The highly touted Offensive Line coach is heading back to the NFL as he has signed to be the Offensive Line Coach for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Dan who was one of the best OL minds in football, never could seem to get FSU OL to play at a dominant pace as expected, but they did play well enough to win two National Championships under his belt. The NFL seems more fitting for his style than the collegiate level however. We will have to wait and see who his replacements are to determine the impact of this departure.

              Defensive Coordinator/Linebackers Coach Mike Singletary

One unit that played outstanding was the Defense as well as the Linebacker corps. Singletary had a lot to do with how well this unit played and losing him could very well be Coach Verner's biggest loss thus far. Singletary leaves the Seminoles and will head back to the NFL with the San Diego Chargers as a Defensive Coordinator there.

              COACHING HIRES

Tommy Bowden who served as Co-OC for FSU the past 3 years will now be the Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks coach for the Seminoles.

Former FSU Running Back Greg Jones will serve as Running Backs Coach for Florida State after the departure of Rich Rodriguez.

Harry Hiestand will serve as the new Offensive Line Coach for FSU after being with Notre Dame for the last 5 years. Heistand has been back and forth from the NFL and College for the past 30 years. Mostly with Illinois, Notre Dame, and the Chicago Bears. Hiestand brings in years of experience in both realms of both the pro and college level.

Tim Beckman will serve as the new DC for Florida State. Beckman's last coaching stint was with North Dakota State for the last 10 years. Prior to that he was the Head Coach at Illinois. While coaching at the FBS level he finished 55-74 before going to NDSU where he had success for years there winning 1 FCS National Title. He's been away from major power 5 programs for a while, and he has huge shoes to fill with the departure of Mike Singletary.

              Players Leaving

              OFFENSE

While the bulk of Florida State's class will remain in tact, there is sure to be some attrition due to the level of talent FSU has recruited the last few years. Here we take a look at some of the players that are leaving the program.

Junior RB Kartrelle Gaither (6'1", 230): Declaring
The Junior Running Back had two outstanding seasons behind a struggling offensive line before he saw his numbers take a dramatic dip this season. He has two seasons over 1,000 yards his freshman and sophmore year (1,015 Freshman year, and 1,134 Sophomore year), however he failed to crack the 500 yard mark his Junior year only averaging 3.3 yards per carry. Most scouts feel that he is a great NFL Back, his numbers dipped due to his style transitioning from the style of FSU's offense. Most believe he will be a late round pick.

Senior ATH Carmelo Clancy (5'11", 205)
Carmelo Clancy aka the swiss army knife as Coach Verner liked to phrase him had a big year last year as a Junior for FSU after transferring in from Georgia Tech. His Junior season he finished with 38 carries for 600 yards and 4 TDs. His Senior season wasnt as star studded as he was suspended early in the season last year, and due to the depth of talent at WR he seemed to get lost in the shuffle after he was eligible to return.

Redshirt Sophomore OL Marcus Lamb (6'2", 300): Transfer Portal(UAB)
The 3rd year Sophmore started all 15 games as a Redshirt Freshman, and saw no action as a Redshirt Sophomore. His decision to transfer comes as no surprise given the lack of playing time.

Redshirt Sophomore OL Kevin Lewis (6'8", 320) Transfer Portal (UAB)
The 3rd year Sophomore from Brewton,AL will transfer closer to home, and also with teammate Marcus Lamb. Brewton started sparingly his first season at FSU and didnt see much time at all this past season. Ironically, FSU has lost two players at a position of need, but UAB has stocked up nicely on plug and play players who can give immediate help in Conference USA.

Redshirt Sophomore OL Alex Benson (6'4" 340) Transfer Portal (Rice)
Alex Benson played alot fo the Noles switching from starter to reserve alot. However even though he was very much in the rotation, he has decided to finish his eligibility at Rice.

Junior Shelvin Borker (6'5", 332): Declaring
The Junior from Belvedere Park, GA was one of the more consistent Offensive Lineman FSU had this season. However, with that being said his declaration came as a surprise. The OL unit was definitely a weakness this year for the Noles and even though Borker was the highest rated lineman for FSU, him deciding to leave was a head scratcher.

              DEFENSE

Senior LB Rashad McCullough (6'4", 242)
The Transfer from Georgia Tech served as an immediate help at the Linebacker position for FSU. His two seasons at FSU he was amongst the team leader in tackles tallying over 200 for his career and finally lived up to his Five-Star billing out of High School after having a struggling start to his career at Georgia Tech. McCullough is a prototypical Mike linebacker, however struggled in the passing game. He's projected as a mid to late round selection.

Senior DB Jermaine Scales (6'0" 186): Graduation
The Senior DB was a reserve the majority of his career and will graduate from FSU.

Redshirt Sophomore DE Sharaad Bonner (6'4", 290)
Bonner was a two year starter for FSU and was the perfect DE for the odd front Defense that Coach Verner implemented from Georgia Tech when he arrived. He had strong production from that DE spot registering 12 sacks and 65 tackles.

Redshirt Junior DT Sheldon Irby (6'4", 328) Grad Transfer: Florida Atlantic
The Englewood, FL native has graduated from FSU and will finish his career at Florida Atlantic.

Junior DB Detaro Levine 6'0" 200: Declaring
The former IMG Academy star was a 3 year starter and one of the few prized recruits Verner was able to land his first season as Head Coach and his career was nothing short but spectacular. He started his first two seasons at Cornerback leading the team in interceptions, and then moved to Free Safety last season that allowed FSU to play a lot more man to man coverage and match up zones due to his coverage ability. His ability to play the run and blanket opposing receivers, as well as being able to play and position in the Defensive Backfield has scouts excited about his ability. Levine is expected to be an early round pick.

              Junior DE/LB Aransu Seay (6'6", 262): Declaring
The former high Four-Star recruit had a steadfast first two years before exploding last season. He also had to transition from being a hand in the dirt DE to a stand up OLB/DE Hybrid. That transition has added value to his draftstock as he is considered a versatile defender. He currently has a mid round draft grade.

Redshirt Sophmore LB Luke Tillman (6'2", 250) : Transfer Portal(Tulane)
Tillman hasnt played much in his career thus far at FSU and has now decided to finish up his playing career at Tulane.

Redshirt Junior DB Tyler Gardner (6'0", 200)Grad Transfer: South Florida
Gardner was a former four-star recruit who played a lot his first year at FSU and then his playing time seemed to take a dramatic hit. However he was a force on special teams throughout his career. But his lack of playing time may have been a big factor on him finishing his college career at South Florida.

              Junior DB Donovan Leonard (5'11" , 200): Transfer Portal(Maryland)
The Washington,DC product played sparingly throughout his career at FSU and will decide to finish his playing career closer to home at Maryland.

6 Noles were invited to the NFL Combine in Indianapolis. Here are the Combine results.

Junior RB Kartrelle Gaither (6'1", 227)
              40 Time:4.55(5th best for RBs)
              Vertical:36 Inches
              Bench Press: 18 reps

Overall Impression: Gaither did himself wonders with the combine. He showed off athletic ability to go with his 227 pound frame and his 40 time for 4.55 helps a ton for a big running back. Due to a lackluster Junior season, his combine performance may have helped his draft stock tremendously.

Junior OG Shelvin Borker (6'5", 334)
              40 Time:5.21
              Vertical:27 Inches
              Bench Press: 27 reps

Overall Impression: Borker was a headscratcher on decided to opt early for the draft. His Combine numbers represent his production at FSU. they dont pop out at you but they are steady numbers that you look for in a lineman.

              Junior DE/OLB Aransu Seay (6'6", 257)
              40 Time:4.83
              Vertical:38 Inches
              Bench Press: 24 reps

Overall Impression: Aransu Seay had a very strong Junior season. But his 40 time may have had teams move away from him being an OLB at this level. His performance at the combine may have restricted him to being a hand in the dirt 4-3 DL at the next level. But at the same token, film doesnt lie and his Junior tape will definitely pop out to scouts.

Junior DB Detaro Levine (6'0", 203)
              40 Time:4.41(4th best for CBs)
              Vertical:40 Inches
              Bench Press: 16 reps

Overall Impression: Levine's stock has risen tremendously. His versatility had GMs ready to sign checks, however his performance at the combine warrants bigger checks. He worked out at Corner and Safety and excelled in both. He has perfect size and on tape is not afraid to support the run at either position. He is one to really watch on draft day.

Redshirt Sophomore DE Sharaad Bonner (6'4", 285)
              40 Time:4.77
              Vertical:29 Inches
              Bench Press: 28 reps

Overall Impression: Bonner running a 4.7 was one of the best things that could improve his stock. GMs wanted to know if he was a 3-4 DE or a DT in a 4-3 defense. He honestly would be good in either defense. He displayed a great 40 time for someone over 280 pounds, had the 4th best cone drill of the Defensive Lineman, his athletic ability is off the charts.

              Senior Rashad McCullough (6'4", 235)
              40 Time:4.65
              Vertical:31 Inches
              Bench Press: 22 reps

Overall Impression: McCullough on film everyone notices hes a tackline machine. But scouts really wanted to know how athletic he was and if he could improve in pass coverage. During the weekend McCullough did just enough to impress scouts in his improvement in that area. He played at 245 this season at FSU so the drop in 10 pounds may have helped him in that area. Running a 4.65 also helped his stock as well. He is one to watch for during the draft.

CB Detaro Levine - 1st Round, 29th Pick to Minnesota Vikings
DE Sharaad Bonner- 3rd Round, 18th Pick to L.A. Rams
DE Aransu Seay-4th Round, 12th Pick to Chicago Bears
LB Rashad McCullough- 4th Round, 21st Pick to San Francisco 49ers
RB Kartrelle Gaither- 5th Round, 15th Pick to Houston Texans
OG Shelvin Borker- 7th Round, 4th Pick to Kansas City Chiefs

              Other Pro Signings of Note

WR Carmelo Clancy signs with the Houston Roughnecks of the XFL.

The off-season continues for Florida State as they attempt to complete their strong recruiting class this season. Right now FSU sits at #1 in the recruiting rankings with Georgia Tech right behind at #2. Here we take a look at FSU's current class, and who they have left on their radar.

ATH David Grier 6’4” 208 Ft. Walton Beach, FL
CB Eric Igwe 6’2” 205 Monessen, PA
RB Kenterrick Shaw 6’2” 215 Clearwater, FL
                S Ra'shod Titus 6’4” 205 Jacksonville,FL
QB Sha'dar Walker 6’2” 223 Carol City, FL

                REMAINING TARGETS

DE Mookie Maracle 6’3” 270 Panama City, FL
                #12 DE , #30 Overall
Why I want: Mookie is an intruiging player. He has the size we want for an interior DE, however, he plays a lot faster than most DEs for his size. He doesnt have the lateral quickness to play Spud or Bandit, but he isnt a one trick pony DE either. He plays the run and pass extremely well.
The Plan: He literally can be an every down DE. He isnt a situational player. He fits the system well and can do a lot of things for us on the front line.

                DT Chris Hawkins 6’5” 336 Savannah,GA
                #21 DT, #431 Overall

Why I want: Another option at NT. Big bodied big framed guy who can probbably help us on the interior.
The Plan: at almost 340 pounds he is a perfect fit for us at Nose Tackle.

S Jamar Sykes 6’1” 215 Daytona Beach, FL
                #2 DB, #60 Overall
Why I want: Sykes is a big hitting safety that brings attitude to any defense. He roams, can cover and brings a punch on his hits.
The Plan: Sykes could move to LB or play in the secondary if we are able to sign him.

CB Micheal Harwell 5’10” 165 San Clemente, CA
                #67 CB, #633 Overall

Why I want: He's a kid whos film was sent in late. Has tools to be a very good Nickel DB.
The Plan:Hawk or Ace position seems to be a great fit

                WR Gerald Hemphill 6’4” 205 Mountain Park,GA
                #204 WR, #--- Overall

Why I want: FSU is pretty much loaded at this position for the forseeable future. But this kids film has jumped out and is a freak of nature of an athlete. Could very well be listed as an athlete because he can play multiple positions.
The Plan: Get him signed. His athletic ability is through the roof.

                DT Ala Hali'a'aloha 6’3” 270 Westminister, CA
                #29 DT, #496 Overall

Why I want: He;s a guy that was brought on the radar by the new Offensive Line coach Harry Hiestand. Heistand thinks his potential is through the roof on the Offensive Line.
The Plan: If we can land him will be placed on the Offensive Line at possibly guard

WR Chris Sanders 6’2” 180 Troy, AL
                #88 WR, #--- Overall

Why I want: Tim Beckman's gave us info on this guy and Beckman would like him as a Corner in this defense. Vastly underrated and hasnt gone to any camps.
The Plan: Would be initially used at one of the Corner positions.

                WR T.J. Thomas 6’4” 230 Mercedes, TX
                #68 WR, #420 Overall

Why I want: A special offer by the Head Coach Cameel Verner. It's pretty late in the recruiting process for this offer as all signs point to him heading to TCU, but Verner feels its worth the risk. He's a 4.43 guy with a 42 inch vertical albeit only being a 3 star recruit. The WR position is stacked but when athleticsm like this is available, its hard to turn down.
                The Plan: Get him signed.

Florida State didnt get as much good news as it normally does on signing day, however, it did get 4 signatures from targets today to bring the class total to 19.

                        BIGGEST WINNERS OF SIGNING DAY

                        1. Florida State

For the third straight year, Florida State reigns surpreme with the Nations #1 Class. And to kick things off, FSU was able to sign 3 of the Top 4 players in Florida. WR Ja'Christian Anderson, QB Sha'dar Walker, and DB Ra'Shod Titus. The top player in Florida, RB Bo Banu, elected to take his talent to Georgia Tech. But FSU still has landed one of the more impressive hauls of a mixture of talent, speed and versatility since the hiring of Head Coach Cameel Verner.

"I'm very excited about the talent we were able to sign today. Today was a big step forward in keeping the tradition and excellence we look for in our student athletes. " said Head Coach Cameel Verner.

The Noles landed a total of 7 Five-Stars in this cycle. Which is obviously imperative seeing the top two teams talent wise in the country is FSU and Georgia Tech who seem to continue to clash at the final game of the year recently. Georgia Tech finished with 6 Five-Stars. Although the two teams are in separate conferences, this is starting to feel like a rivalry on, and now off the field also.

                        Top Signed Players:

                        WR Ja'Christian Anderson 6'6" 220 Pensacola, FL
QB Sha'Dar Walker 6'2" 220 Carol City, FL
                        S Ra'Shod Titus 6'4" 205 Jacksonville, FL
OT Synnqann Evans 6'7" 300 Cartersville, GA (#2 Overall Player in the class)
DE Shawn Ray Butler 6'4" 253 Montgomery, AL
Others: CB Eric Igwe, DE Alaadin Bouye

                        2. Georgia Tech

The Yellow Jackets certainly do not have a problem with talent, and they for sure do not have a problem recruiting elite talent. They finished signing day extremely strong by closing in on 3 Five-Stars bringing their total for the day to 6. They got a huge steal nabbing the top player in the state of Florida, RB Bo Banu. They also nabbed the top player in the state of Alabama in Five-Star QB Cooper Davis Burcher , and they got the signing of the #2 Player in the Country in WR Javaar Denga from New Jersey. The Jackets have been on a tear in the American Athletic Conference for the latter part of of past 5 years and it doesn't seem like it will slow down anytime soon.

                        Top Players
RB Bo Banu 6'1" 215 Tampa, FL
QB Cooper Davis Burcher 6'5" 237 Hoover, AL
RB Antwaan Jones 5'11" 203 College Park, GA
WR Javaar Denga 6'5" 190 Teaneck, NJ (#3 Overall Player in the class)
OT Marvin Thompkins 6'5" 287 Savannah, GA

                        3. Oklahoma

Oklahoma checked in a #3 in the rankings here. They had a very strong recruiting season and nabbing the #7 overall player in the country and #2 RB Kevin Fulton

                        Top Signed Players:
RB Kevin Fulton 6'0" 220 Oklahoma City, OK
CB Toby Gibson 5'11" 165 Katy, TX
LB Dion Rogers 6'1" 235 Dallas, TX
WR Kevin Jones 6'0" 190 McArthur, TX
                        WR Greg Asari-Dokubo 6'0" 215 Gainesville, TX

                        4. Notre Dame

Another team from the American Athletic Conference checks in in the top 5. Notre Dame lost some very close games last year and looks to fill some of the missing pieces from last years team with a very solid recruiting class. Signing Five-Star WR Andre Roberts gives them a much needed explosive weapon on the outside.

                        Top Signed Players
WR Andre Roberts 6'1" 185 Amarillo, TX
LB Jeremiah Oak 6'2" 220 Cleveland, OH
QB Justin Lewis 6'6" 225 Silver Spring, MD
OG Mark Boisseau 6'4" 324 Indianapolis, IN
WR Keto Ali 6'1" 185 Cincinatti, OH

                        5. Alabama

Florida finished #5 in the total recruit rankings and yes, Alabama finished #6. But Alabama finishing the recruiting cycle with 3 total Five-Stars pushed them in this category. They nabbed the #1 player in the country in QB Karter Gold, and topped an impressive class off with ATH Eddie Radcliff from Washington, DC and RB Corey Latimer from Mountain Brook, AL. The Tide have had some impressive strings of recruiting classes and look to finally take another impressive leap next season toward the SEC Championship.

                        Top Signed Players
QB Karter Gold 6'4" 195 Draper, UT (#1 overall player in the class)
ATH Eddie Radcliff 6'0" 218 Washington, DC
RB Corey Latimer 5'11" 207 Mountain Brook, AL
CB Latravan Moore 5'11" 160 Jacksonville, FL
TE Jaron James 6'5" 233 Hoover, AL

                          MEET THE #1 RECRUITING CLASS

For the third consecutive year, FSU tops the rankings in recruiting. Head Coach Cameel Verner has a rivals era record of 13 total #1 recruiting classes in his Head Coaching career, which includes his tenure back at Georgia Tech. With two National Championships in three years, FSU undoubtedly will stay in the upper echelon of talent for years to come with these last three classes. Now lets take a look at the 2031 class for Florida State this year.

                          Projected Position:

One thing is for sure, Florida State is stacked this year at WR. They might have the deepest receiver board in College Football. Florida State's only true WR target was Ja'Christian Anderson, and at 6'6" with a reported 4.43/40 and a 43 inch vertial leap, its easy to understand why FSU went after his signature. Anderson is an extremely talented player who has an extremely high ceiling. It will be interesting to see if he's utilized this season with all the talent FSU already has at that position. But the Noles are set for years to come at this position.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Blaine Bonner was a 3 year starter in High School at Tackle until this past Senior season he played both Guard at Tackle. And one thing is for sure FSU loves versatility. It is unclear if he will play Guard or Tackle at FSU, but they love his mean streak and run block ability. He chose FSU over Oklahoma State and Kansas State.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

If there is one player FSU coaches raved about during the Media portion of signing day, its this guy. Boyson has an attitude and packs a ton of punch behind it. He's versatile, and can play all five DB Positions for FSU's defense, but will probably play 3 of the 5 due to his ability to play the run so well. He has a very high IQ which new Defensive Coordinator Tim Beckman absolutely loves. Beckman already stated he has the ability to make an impact year one, and will leave it up to his practice performance to determine how much, and also to determine what position he will play.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Another athletic freak of nature is Bouye. He seemed to be an LSU lock all the way up until his visit to FSU where things seemed to shift in that category. Once he visited FSU and saw how he would be utilized, it helped that on his visit Junior Kenyatta Bimbo had 3 sacks, which is the position and role he would play at FSU. Bouye chose FSU over LSU.
                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Brazille is one big guy. And he is the exact system player that FSU needs. Big, athletic and active. And the fact he played in a similar 3-3-5 system in high school only will help him understand his role even more upon arriving at FSU. He's a guy in different sets that can also slide in on the interior when FSU slides to a 4-2-5 or 2-4-5 defense like they like to do in certain situations. FSU got a big time pick up with this one. Brazille chose FSU over Georgia Tech , Georgia and Florida.
                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Shawn Ray Butler is a guy that has one of the best motors we've scouted in this class. He's relentless and really gets after it. However, he will have to adjust to being an OLB in this scheme as he was recruited to play the Bandit/Spud position at FSU although he played his entire high school career as a DE. But he has all the athletic tools you want in that position.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Creysac is one large defensive lineman. He's a 4.68 guy even at that size which makes him so impressive. Although playing DT in high school he will transition to a DE at Florida State. Tim Beckman loves his ability to get up field and use his size as an advantage. He chose FSU over Miami and FIU.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Where do we begin with this prospect? He's probably the best Tackle we've scouted in the last 20 years. He's tall, long, lean and everything in between. Any other year, he would easily be the #1 player in the class. However, the #1 player this year, QB Karter Gold (Alabama Commit) is a once in a generational type talent at Quarterback. Which is a testament to how good Gold is, but that still doesnt knock the talent of Evans. Evans has not allowed a single sack his entire High School career, and that streak didnt come close to ending in the Under Armor All-American game a few weeks ago. Evans is a stud in every right, and with the Offensive Line woes FSU has had, he's a welcomed addition. He's about as perfect of a tackle you can get.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

In a 3-3-5 your Defense is only as good as your anchor in the middle. And FSU has some good ones on its roster currently with Junior Angelo Jackson and former Five-Star Sophomore David McNeil-Days. Want depth? A good anchor for the future? Add Suri French. He's the perfect Nose Tackle for any Odd front system. French chose FSU over Georgia Tech and Miami.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

The theme for this years recruiting class for FSU was to get more athletic around the board. In order to stay in the upper echelon of talent, athetlicsm is a must. And Grier is just that. Grier played all over the field in High School at multiple positions but he really excelled as a WR. While he had offers from every school in the country as a WR, FSU has recruited him to play Linebacker. Middle Linebacker to be exact. Head Coach Verner loves his athletic ability, ability to close in space and physical nature to play the position. Most people would find moving a star WR to Middle Linebacker, but if anyone has built a heck of a reputation in evaluations, Verner has one. A very good one at that. Grier chose FSU over Florida, Clemson and UCF.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Ala Hali'a'aloha was not on FSU's board what so ever until the off-season began. Then new Offensive Line coach Harry Hiestandt convinced Head Coach Cameel Verner to offer the young man. But not as a DT, as a OL. Heistandt believes his ceiling on the OL is extremely high. Before FSU offered in the final hour, it was believed he was headed to Fresno State. However, he opted to go with Florida State. He will begin his career as an Offensive Guard.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Florida State currently has a pair of former Five-Star corners on its roster. Junior Isaac Boles, and Sophomore Ja'Carius Kidd. They both are #1 and #2 in the country in Defensive Pass Efficiency per PFF, Kidd leading the country in that statistic. Now, you have another guy that can possibly be in the conversation that can add to that group in Igwe. With those two spots possibly locked in, Igwe might have to play one of the other 3 DB position spots to see the field extremely early. And the good news is, he can play all 5 DB spots. The Noles love big corners, and Igwe has the size to do it all, and is also very good in run support. Igwe gives FSU plenty of options in this defense.

                          Projected Position:

Luke played a bunch of different positions in high school which is a credit to how athletic a player he is, but his future is at Linebacker at FSU. Defensive Coordinator Tim Beckman loves how versatile he is on defense which may allow him to play in different spots on Defense, but Coach Verner loves his instincts at the Linebacker position. He chose FSU over East Carolina and Wake Forest.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Chris Sanders was a late offer by the Noles. With the receiver board being so stacked it was a head scratcher why he was offered. But at the media portion of signing day, Verner explained he loved Sanders explosiveness and ability to play special teams, and thinks his future is on the defensive side of the ball. Sanders will transition from WR to Cornerback or Hawk on defense.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          [Missing Highlight tape]

Shaw is a big bodied back that reminds you of Kentrelle Gaither who was drafted in the 6th round of this years draft. FSU loves the Thunder/Lightning combo with their Running Backs and Shaw continues that trend that they love with his physical running ability.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

Sykes is another guy that absolutely LOVES to hit. He loves contact and he always seems to have a nose for the ball. Sykes played the majority of his career in High School as a Safety, but will transition to playing Linebacker in college. The fact he played safety will help him in his coverage skills as a linebacker, and his physical nature will help him adapt to the new position quickly. Sykes is an absolute stud and FSU cannot stop raving about the kid.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

T.J. Thomas was another late offer, that again, scratched heads when the offer surfaced considering how deep FSU's WR chart is. But after doing research, Thomas is a physical specimen where his measurables and attributes jump out at you. At 6'4" 230 he's a 4.41/40 guy and has a 42 inch vertical. Apparently he was a threat to not qualify academically, but once that was hashed out FSU made him a priority and landed his signature. And during the media portion of Signing Day, Verner confirmed Thomas will actually start his career as an H-Back/Tight End hybrid role. His speed, jumping ability and ball skills will definitely make him a mismatch against Linebackers that may be matched up against him.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

                          Projected Position:

In the dictionary, next to the definition of the word "Enforcer", theres a picture of this guy. Ra'Shod Titus is a fierce hitter, ballhawk and just a true gamer. He's rangy and will support the run like his life depends on it. There isnt much negative to say about his game at this stage in his career. At 6'4" he's a bigger Safety and with his range it makes windows much smaller for opposing Quarterbacks. This guy is a huge pick up, and will start his career playing both Free (FS) and Ace(SS) for the Seminoles.

                          __________________________________________________ _______________________________

You want to talk about Gamebreakers? Sha'dar Walker is the epitome of game breakers. This guy is an absolute stud. He's special in every way imaginable and is a threat to score any time the ball in his hands, which is scary due to the fact the ball is in his hands every play. He is such an undeniable talent, FSU will undoubtedly have to find ways to get him on the field somehow even if its in limited duty although FSU has a crowded Quarterback room currently with a Former Heisman Trophy winner at the helm and a quality backup/starter in Clay Tillman. Lets not also forget former Four-Star B.J. McDaniels redshirted last season also. But Walker is definitely a homerun threat at the most important position on the team.

                          Opinion on class
I believe defensivly, FSU focused on getting more athletic, and they did just that. They got a ton of guys who can play multiple positions on Defense at this level at a high level, which will help them in the long run of teams attempting to scheme against them. Versatility is the key. And this class was very defense heavy. With a lot of upcoming underclassman being draft eligible next season, FSU needed to stock up on elite talent to continue their dominant run. And from the looks of it they hit a home run in that department.

                            MEET THE REDSHIRTS

Florida State had 14 redshirts last season as Florida State once again eclipsed the mountain of National Champions. Here we will highlight each Redshirt, and discuss their possible roles this season.

The former 4-star guard redshirted last season. With the attrition that happened this off-season on the Offensive Line he has the ability to compete for playing time during spring camp.

The former four star WR played in 3 games last season and preserved his Redshirt for this season. In those 3 games, he had 6 catches for 123 yards and 2 Touchdowns. He displayed explosiveness and gamebreaking ability in such a short sample amount of time.

The former Rivals 250 linebacker didnt appear in any games last season, and with departures at the Linebacker spot can help compete for playing time at the OLB spot..

The massive former Rivals 100 WR didnt appear in any games last season and took a full redshirt. He has bulked up to 220 pounds and even though the WR room is currently stacked, he will look to make an emergence even in limited action. This will be an important spring for him.

The former Rivals 250 Defensive End has gained an impressive 30 pounds during his redshirt year and has bulked up to 290 pounds. He will still play Defensive End in the odd-front scheme for FSU, this spring should help get his feet wet and determine how much playing time he could look at this fall.

Manson was a big time get for the Defensive Line last year. He's gained 15 pounds during his Redshirt season and looks to play between 275 and 280 during Spring camp.

The athletic lineman from Bessemer,AL was a project from signing, but since new Head Coach Harry Heistandt has been on board, he's raved about the potential of Kirby. Heistandt has stated he could be a good Guard or Tackle for the Noles at some point in his career.

The former Four-Star prospect from Virginia took a redshirt last season and this spring will be a very important spring for him. With the emergence of backup Clay Tillman late last season, and with former Heisman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter entering his Junior campaign, it still seems he has a bit of a wait before he sees significant playing time. However, with the signing of Five-Star QB Sha'dar Walker, the backup role gets even more interesting.

Phillips took a redshirt albeit being one of the more athleticly gifted players on Florida States Roster. He checks in at 6'6" 265 and runs in the 4.5 range according to coaches. Phillips will play the Bandit (OLB) position for FSU where his athletic ability will shine bright for the FSU defense. He will be behind a few veterans at that position, but i'm sure the coaches will find a way to get him on the field.

The explosive Running Back also took a redshirt, and the way FSU likes to use their backs we expect for him to see some carries this coming spring to determine how he will be utilized in the fall.

The former Rivals 250 Defensive Back has now made his fulltime transition to Linebacker. He will line up at the Spud (OLB) Position for Florida State this season. FSU wanted to get more athletic on the Front 7 and the former DB brings the coverage skills and physical tools they like at that spot. He will also challenge for playing time this spring.

The versatile linebacker from Texas didnt appear in any games last season. And looks to use this spring to catapult his way up the depth charge playing both Bandit/Spud (OLB) positions.

The former three-star recruit Redshirted last season and didnt appear in any games. He will also compete in Track and Field for the Noles this year in the 100m, 200m, and Triple Jump.

                                PRE-SPRING CAMP NEWS AND NOTES

Spring camp for the Seminoles is just right around the corner. Before camp begins we are going to highlight some details around FSU Football and also some depth chart moves, transfers and also position battles to keep an eye on.

                                **BREAKING NEWS**

QB Sarderrious Minter will switch positions this spring

Florida State Head Coach Cameel Verner, Sr. has just announced that former Heisman Trophy winner Sarderrious Minter will switch positions and will not be under center this spring and will make the move from Quarterback to Running Back.

"Sarderrious and I had a very long talk. He's such a great athlete, such a gifted kid, I honestly believe he could play all 22 positions on the field if he wanted to. He's smart, powerful, athletic, there isn't much he can't do. And we are just extremely excited about the coming spring."

                                Recruit Bio

The move comes as a surprise as Minter was on the way to practically shattering Florida State school passing records entering his third season as a starter. However, coming out of High School, Minter was the No. 5 overall recruit in the country, and the No.1 Athlete. In High School he played Quarterback, Running Back, Wide Receiver, Linebacker, Safety and Defensive End. He practically did it all for Pompano Beach.

While at Florida State, he won the Heisman Trophy as a true Freshman. To date, he's thrown for 8,871 yards which puts him 2nd All Time in FSU passing history. He's first all time in passing touchdowns with 94, and also has added 2,693 rushing yards most ever by a Quarterback in FSU history. Now, he will enter his Junior year battling for the top spot at Running Back.

FSU has a bit more attrition to address before spring practice as a few more players have entered the transfer portal.

Senior QB Douglas Larson (6'2" ,190) Frankfurt, KY
                                Transfers to: Louisiana Lafayette

Larson didnt play much his tenure at Florida State. He's gotten his degree and will finish up his final year of Eligibility at Louisiana Lafayette.

Redshirt Senior QB Ricky Kemp (6'2", 215) - Dallas, TX
                                Transfers to: Houston

Kemp had a chance to be the backup Quarterback last season but it was derailed due to a horrific arm injury in the Spring Game last year, and he missed the entire 2030 season. Now the graduate transfer will finish up his Collegiate career closer to home as a Houston Cougar.

Senior Tight End Matthew Goss (6'3", 245) - Attalla, AL
                                Transfers to: UAB

Due to family issues, Goss felt it was best to be closer to home with his family. However, with Goss transferring to UAB, that gives the Blazers 3 former Seminoles on its roster that have used the transfer portal to their advantage. Offensive Lineman Marcus Lamb and Kevin Lewis both have transferred there and are participating in Spring camp.

                                NOTABLE WEIGHT GAINS

WR Sytavious "Pit" Graham- 180 to 202

The feisty WR earned the Nickname "Pit" in High School because he's short and stout like a Pit Bull. And in his first Off-Season as a Seminole it appears he hit the weight room hard. He moved from 185 pounds to 202 at 5'6". He also helped FSU win it's first Track and Field National Championship by posting a 20.10 200m which is 3rd fastest in FSU history.

                                WR Tso Cyrus - 210 to 225

The big 6'5" WR from Mississippi gained a healthy 15 pounds this off-season as a Redshirt and will be a huge utility for FSU to use at wideout this year.

TE Mikki Munday 220 to 240

The 6'6" Tight End needed to gain bulk to his frame to be an every down Tight End at this level. The coaches eventually want to get him around 250 by the time he leaves Tallahassee.

DE Marvin Dickerson 258 to 290

At 6'8" Dickerson might have had the most impressive weight gain of any of the players on the roster. Dickerson at 290 gives them another big Edge that they like and gives him the versatility to play on the interior when FSU moves to Even front formations also.

                                NT David McNeil-Days 365 to 332

The former Five-Star while listed at 340 actually played last season at about 365 pounds his Freshman season and wanted to be come more disruptive and quicker at the Nose and dropped an astounding 33 pounds. He wants to play this season around 335 to 340.

Mike Rashaun Britton 230 to 241

The Mike Linebacker played in a reserve role last season and played exceptionally well. Now being the front runner to take over as the starter for the Mike position, he's added a healthy 11 pounds to his 6'5" frame.

Spud Jonathan Stephens 220 to 232

The former Rivals 250 Defensive Back is adjusting well to his position switch from High School Safety to College Linebacker. At 6'3" he's gained 12 pounds to aclimate to the physical nature that the Linebacker spot requires at this level.

                                Working...
