    TRANSFERS FIND NEW HOMES

The Noles have seen a mass amount of attrition after Spring Camp concluded with 6 Seminoles entering the Transfer Portal. One of the biggest impacts was Sophomore Quarterback B.J. McDaniel transfering after one playing season in Tallahassee. But with the experience McDaniel got at Florida State, it didn't take him long to find a new home along with the other 5 Seminoles that opted to finish their careers elsewhere.

QB B.J. McDaniel 6'4" 233 - Transferred to: West Virginia

    High School Profile

The Noles hurt with experienced depth with the loss of McDaniel. The Noles will enter the Fall with two players with any playing experience in Walker and Tillman. Most fans thought it would be a three way battle in the Fall in McDaniel, Walker and Tillman. But McDaniel apparently grew frustrated with the Quarterback situation during the spring and opted to go a different path. Landing at West Virginia, the Mountaineers struggled last season at Quarterback and McDaniel gets a bit closer to home being a Maryland native, and should be able to get significant playing time for a school that desperately needs help at the QB position.

    LB Zel'Arius Wilson 6'5" 236 - Transferred to: Tulsa

    High School Profile

Wilson was a reserve his entire career at Florida State, and wanted to use his last portion of his eligibility possibly for more playing time. The Socorro,TX native finishing at Tulsa should allow him to see significant playing time.

OG Jordan Craft 6'5" 331- Transferred to: Tulane

    High School Profile

Losing Craft hurts the depth of the Seminoles as Craft had 8 starts in his career. The interior guard transfers to Tulane where he can compete for a starting job.

OG Sanderson Hall 6'5" 335- Transferred to: FAU

    High School Profile

Hall had a respectable number of starts at Florida State with 15 starts in his career at FSU. However, his production was a rollercoaster of a ride. Eventually, he was replaced by Anthony Branch, where he saw his playing time decrease. The former Four-Star recruit heads closer to home at Florida Atlantic. The loss of Hall impacts the Noles from a depth and experience standpoint. However, FSU has recruited well on the interior line so the loss shouldn't impact them atleast for this season.

DT Chris Weiss 6'7" 325- Transferred to: Oregon

    High School Profile

Weiss was a reserve his entire career at Florida State. However, the the massive Defensive Lineman had an extremely productive Spring and flashed often in the Spring game. Even with the positive production, he did not want to spend his last couple of years of eligibility at FSU and has transferred a bit closer to home at Oregon.

DE Joe Terrell 6'6" 283- Transferred to: UCONN

    High School Profile

Terrell came to FSU with a ton of hype and had the style that fit FSU's 3-3-5 defense as a prized recruit. However, his production didn't pan out on the field at Florida State as his entire career has been spent as a reserve. Terrell will finish out his collegiate stint at UCONN.

NOLES PICK UP TE FROM TRANSFER PORTAL

The Noles lost a number of players over the past few weeks to the Transfer Portal, a total of six to be exact. However, as the Seminoles transition to a more Pro Style Offense, big Physical Tight Ends have become a position of need for the Noles. Currently the Noles have five Tight Ends on the roster. Four of which are deemed as "Pass Catching" Tight Ends who were previously recruited to fit the Spread Scheme the Noles have used for the past four seasons. The fifth Tight End will be a true Freshman this fall and may not be physically ready to contribute in year one. So the Noles looked to the Portal for help and got help with Michigan Redshirt Junior transfer Cody Toole.

Toole, at 6'5" 253 pounds played sparingly for the Wolverines in his first two seasons, but opted to move closer to home. Toole, originally from Pensacola, FL will add to a position of need as the Noles want their Tight Ends to be more physical up front to help with the run game. Toole is a big body who's known more for his blocking prowess which is exactly what the doctor ordered. The Noles now will have six Tight Ends on the roster. They plan on Redshirting Tony Edmonds, while Oliver Whitehead will move to the Fullback/H-Back Role. Meaning, FSU will now have 4 active traditional Tight Ends for the season. Toole will have two years of eligibility remaining, however is set to graduate in December.

        2033 RIVALS 100 RELEASED

Rivals has released its Top 100 players of the 2033 class. The top player in the class, Colin Skalbeck has been rumored to be a USC lock. While the #2 player in the class Teha Ka'uhane has interest in Florida State amonst other schools on the West Coast.

Gavin Houston is the #4 overall player in football and the #2 overall player in basketball

However, the most intruiging prospect in the Rivals 100 would be the #4 overall rated player Gavin Houston. The 6 foot 8 athlete is ranked #2 overall in our basketball rankings, and has over 60 offense including UNC, Kentucky, UCLA and Kansas. He has expressed interest he wants to play football more-so than basketball. So his decision will be an interesting one. He would need to bulk up to be a high end Divison 1 Tight End, but he has athletic ability off the charts with a 44 inch vertical to go with his 6 foot 8 frame.

There are only 26 Five-Stars in this class which has been the lowest amount of Five-Stars in 8 years when in 2025 there were 23. Last season, there were 31 Five-Stars.

          ***BREAKING NEWS***
          TWO SEMINOLES ARRESTED

We have learned tonight that two Florida State Seminole football players have been taken into custody. Senior LB Ty'Shall McBee and Junior TE Mikkie Munday both have been arrested and taken into custody. Around 11:54 PM tonight, a routine traffic stop according to officers lead to the police smelling a strong odor of marijuana which caused for a search of the vehicle. The 2021 Chevrolet Camaro, owned by McBee, led to the findings of illegal firearms as well as marijuana. Both Noles were detained with a 5,000 dollar bond.

The arrest came shortly after McBee posted a picture on his social media just a couple of hours earlier. We are unsure if the tweet lead to the traffic stop or not.

          High School Profile

McBee, at 6'5" 255 played in all 14 games last season as a Junior in a reserve role only tallying 14 tackles on the season, was slated to fight for a starting spot for the Seminoles at Outside Linebacker. He was a highly touted Four-Star recruit from Holiday, FL.

          High School Profile

Munday, at 6'6" 243 played as a reserve Tight End and was fighting for a starting spot this season in the Noles new pro style scheme. He had 4 catches last season as a reserve.

We are unsure of the current status of the two players as the university has not released a statement on the two student-athletes. This is Cameel Verner's first arrest as the Head Coach of the Florida State Seminoles.

            OFF-SEASON UPDATES

The fall season is right around the corner and there have been tons of news and updates for the Florida State Seminole football team. From roster changes, to recruiting and more, we will update you on what's going on in Florida State football from this off-season.

TWO MORE NOLES NO LONGER APART OF PROGRAM

Earlier in the month, we learned that two Seminoles were arrested on firearm and drug charges. Today, we learned those Seminoles now are no longer associated with Florida State University.

Senior LB Ty'Shall McBee and Junior TE Mikkie Munday both were arrested and taken into custody. Around 11:54 PM on June 21, a routine traffic stop according to officers lead to the police smelling a strong odor of marijuana which caused for a search of the vehicle. The 2021 Chevrolet Camaro, owned by McBee, led to the findings of illegal firearms as well as marijuana. Both Noles were detained with a 5,000 dollar bond.

Today Head Coach Cameel Verner released a statement on the two players.

"We have nothing but the upmost respect for McBee and Munday. They were an integral part of what we've built up to this point at Florida State. But unfortunately, you are responsible for your actions as a student athlete. The two are unfortunately no longer apart of our program. We wish them the best of luck in their futures."

Ty'Shall McBee, a Senior out of Holiday, FL was in the running to push for a starting spot this season after serving as a backup to 1st Round pick Kyson Perry the majority of his collegiate career. McBee had 14 tackles last season an 2 sacks in a reserve role.

Mikki Munday, a Junior from Hollywood, FL had 4 catches last season as a reserve Tight End. The Noles were looking for the veteran to aid them in their transition as a pro-style offense.

TIGHT END POSITION GETS NEW FACE

Redshirt Sophomore Terrence Manson will move from DE to TE this fall

One of the biggest headlines this Spring, was the Noles transitioning from a Spread Scheme, to a Pro Style scheme. However, with any transition, personnel is key for success for that transition. The Seminoles last season in their spread scheme, had Tight Ends that mostly fit the criteria of a spread Tight End. Now that the Noles are more Pro-Style oritented, they wanted to transition their current roster to a more physical brand.

Hayden Kiser recruited Tony Edmunds in his first cycle as a Offensive Coordinator to help in that area. But Edmunds may need a year or so to develop his body to be ready to help physically. The Noles also now have lost Mikki Munday who is no longer apart of the program at Tight End. And Oliver Whitehead has now been listed as an H-Back/Fullback role in the new system.

The Noles looked to the Transfer Portal to add 6 foot 5, 255 pound Redshirt Junior Cody Toole from Michigan. Toole comes from a Pro Style, physical brand of offense with Michigan, and he brings a big of experience with 10 starts with the Wolverines. Toole joins the Seminoles with two years of eligibility remaining and is set to graduate in December.

            High School Profile

Terrence Manson will move from Defensive End where he's spent his entire career thus far. The Redshirt Sophomore has played mostly as a reserve so far in his career at Defensive End registering two tackles. The former Rivals 250 player, will switch from No. 51, to No. 30 which he wore in High School. New Offensive Coordinator, Hayden Kiser loves the switch for Manson who is 6'5" 265 pounds currently. He played Defensive End last season at 275.

"He's extremely physical. He's a hard nosed guy. We love the physicality he will bring to our side of the ball. He adds to the dynamic we feel we need this season and I'm extremely excited about it."

The Noles now have 5 Tight Ends on the current roster. Four of which are expected to fight for playing time in the fall as Freshman Tony Edmunds is expected to redshirt.

18 TE Tony Edmunds 6’6” 230 FR Fairfax, VA
            21 TE T.J. Thomas 6'4" 230 FR(RS) Mercedes, TX
81 TE David Davis 6’5” 245 SR Calhoun, GA
            30 TE Terrence Manson 6’5” 265 SO(RS) Brent, FL
            46 TE Cody Toole 6'5" 256 JR(RS) Pensacola, FL

            RECRUITING AMPS UP

The Seminoles actually hosted one of it's biggest recruiting weekends of the year. Midnight Madness in Tallahasee. Over 100 blue chip prospects took part in the camp, and Coach Verner made sure he made one heck of an impression on the campers as he decided to pull up to the Moore Center in a Flatbed truck, hauling his 1.3 million dollar Bugatti Veyron. Both the Flatbed, which also sat on 34" custom rims, and the Bugatti were decked out in Florida State Garnet and Gold. Check out Coach Verner's entrance here.

There were several recruits that attented the Midnight Madness event, such as the #2 Overall prospect in the country, DT Teha* *Ka’uhane* , the #4 overall prospect in the country TE Gavin Houston as well as legacy recruit Five-Star Running Back Rohkan Fredrick. The atmosphere was electric as many of the recruits took pictures next to Coach Verner's Bugatti.

Five-Star TE Gavin Houston posing with Verner's Bugatti Veyron.

Five-Star DL Teha* *Ka’uhane* posing next to the 34" inch rims on the Flatbed

Over the course of the event, there was much to talk about from the recruits as they enjoyed the visit over the weekend. Of course, most of the recruits had alot to say about the cars Verner displayed. After the event, Rohkan Fredrick didnt take long to make up his mind when he wanted to announce his finalists for his college destination.

Rohkan Fredrick, the son of former Florida State Seminole All-American Ross Fredrick, played for the Seminoles in 2012 to 2014(XBOX) and ended up playing 12 years in the NFL with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Washington Redskins. The elder Fredrick is the Bucs all time leading rusher. Now retired, he's happy to be back on campus and seeing his son go through the same process he did.

"It's so good to be back in Tallahassee. Things have changed a lot since I was last here. Glad to see we have our winning tradition back. That's how it should always be here. " said Ross Fredrick

The elder Fredrick was a Four-Star recruit coming out of High School. However, his son is rated the #17 overall player in the country right now and says things have changed a lot since he came out of high school.

"Yeah I got a lot of attention but I'm got nothing like what Ro is getting" he said with a laugh "But I'm not pushing him one way or another to any school. I want him to make the best decision for himself. He's earned the right do to that" he said.

            2032 SCHEDULE RELEASED

The NCAA has released the 2032 schedule. The Noles will open on the road in Dallas,TX at AT&T Stadium vs the #7 Oregon Ducks. And for the first time in the Cameel Verner era, they will face the UNC Tar Heels on the road in their ACC Opener. Other non conference opponents include UAB, and Florida.

KICK OFF WEEKEND STAGE IS SET

With the release of the 2032 Schedule. ESPN has announced that on Kick Off Weekend, the Noles neutral site matchup vs the Oregon Ducks in Dallas will be the Primetime Match up of the night. The Noles last season, coming off a dissapointing season going 10-3, will take on American Athletic Conference foe, Oregon who finished last season 9-4. Both teams came off impressive bowl victories to end the year however. With an impressive recruiting haul from both teams, this shapes up to be an early game of importance for the College Football Playoff race.

              AMERICAN CONFERENCE

Georgia Tech has 8 National Championships in the last 17 years

The American Athletic Conference, or the American, for short is considered by many the premier conference in College Football. Established in 2015, the conference has seen 9 National Championships since that time span. 8 of those have come from the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. Michigan is the other team from the conference to win one. The American Conference last season finished with the best out of conference record and went on to go 8-2 in bowl games as well. Most seasons, its a race to see who can finish to meet Georgia Tech in the Conference Championship game. However, the conference finished the last 7 seasons with the most teams in the Top 25, as well as Top 10 each season. Georgia Tech lost a lot of talent last season as it went on to win the 2031 National Title, but even with that being said, the Yellow Jackets continue to reload year in and year out in recruiting.

              Ranked Teams
              #2 Georgia Tech
              #4 Notre Dame
              #7 Oregon
              #12 USC
              #15 Michigan
              #18 Miami
              #22 FIU

The American conference comes in with the most teams in the Top 25 with 7. Three of those teams are in the Top 10. The American Conference is one of the most competitive conferences in the country. This year should be no different. The Stripes division has been a headlined by Georgia Tech for years. And we believe this year to be no different. The Yellow Jackets are absolutely loaded, yet again.

The National Champions, Led by Junior Quarterback James Balazrini from Bell, CA he was the #4 overall High School Prospect in the country a few years ago. He played outstanding in the National Championship vs Missouri as he completed 83% of his passes, for 432 yards and 3 Touchdowns on the night. And he’s back yet again this season.

Miami had a pretty disappointing season last year, but they come back this season stocked full of talent. Only a few years removed from a National Championship appearance, they have the talent and experience this year to contend for the Stripes Division.

Oregon's explosive offense looks to come out the Stripes Divison this year

Unlike the Stripes Division, the Stars is a bit more of a toss-up. However, Oregon QB Zac Hall gives the Ducks a huge chance. Hall is considered the #1 Quarterback on Mel Kiper’s Draft Board coming into the season, even above James Balzarini. Hall at 6’5” 223 pounds will have the Ducks in prime position to take the American Conference and also make a run at a National Title.

The other team we feel has an opportunity to come out of this conference is Les Miles’ FIU Panthers. FIU has recruited extremely well over the years and finished last season 8-5. The problem for the other teams in the conference is, FIU returns all 22 of it’s starters from last season. If FIU can stay healthy, they could very well make a very interesting run int he American Conference this year.

              PROJECTED CHAMPIONSHIP

              OREGON v GEORGIA TECH

              ACC CONFERENCE

Florida State has two National Titles in the last 3 years

The ACC has had it’s ups and downs with consistent contenders each year. One constant has been Florida State. For the past few years they have been in discussion for the College Football Playoff. Clemson has been up and down in consideration and with a down year last season, but a strong recruiting class, Clemson possibly isn’t far off from that soon. But they might be a year off. However, with the emergence of Duke, last year’s ACC Champion, as well as West Virginia the ACC could slowly become a conference that isn’t determined on the success of one team. North Carolina also is a team that possibly could make noise in the ACC this year.

The Seminoles the past few seasons have done a masterful job out of conference, but outside fo the second championship season, stumbled in conference in a couple of games. The biggest question mark this year is the Quarterback position for the Seminoles. If they can get that figured out, look out. The Noles are absolutely loaded. As of now we are unsure who will be behind Center for the Seminoles, and they have a slew of talent to choose from. But we still believe with the talent stockpiled at every other position they are primed to be able to come out of the Atlantic Divison. All-American Safety Luron Dixon led the Seminoles last season in tackles with 6 interceptions and two defensive touchdowns. The Noles appear to have a defense that is stout enough to win games for them which will be the strength of their team. They have recruited well at all positions defensively and addressed tons of needs. The defense will look to be the backbone of the Noles in 2032.

Baylor, who was the lone ACC team last season to beat the Seminoles we believe is another good choice to possibly come out of the Atlantic. Baylor played well at times last year but their youth showed in games. A young Baylor team with experience can possibly be trouble for the ACC this season. All-Conference WR Erik Leslie returns to the Bears this year and quite possibly will be the key to the Bears success this year.

Clemson is the darkhorse in our opinion. Clemson still has NFL talent up and down it’s roster but they seem to have had a hard time putting it together for a complete season in recent years. Clemson still has a dynamic receiving corps, which possibly is the best in the ACC this season to go along with a talented Quarterback Heath Watson who will be Clemson’s starting Quarterback this year.

Duke is the reigning ACC Champion

Duke was last year’s Coastal Champion as well as ACC Champion defeating Florida State last year in Charlotte. Can Duke repeat it’s self two years in a row? With an impressive finish of 10-3 last season, Duke lost a ton of talent from last years team, but they return one of the best Secondaries in the country. Tom Jude is the #3 Cornerback in the country per PFF . They are also one of the most well coached teams in the entire country. It’s hard to see Duke replicating what they did last season in the fashion they did, but it’s hard to count them out because they are extremely consistent.

West Virginia has a lethal passing attack that returns in 2032

However, we do believe that West Virginia will be the Coastal Champion this season. The Mountaineers finished second last season behind Duke in the Coastal Standings, but did have a very impressive 9-3 record last season overall. Doland Horne brings leadership and experience back to an explosive offense with probably the best Running Back tandem in the ACC this year with Sean Walker and Lee Anderson. They are an extremely explosive one, two punch which immensely helps Horne this season. West Virginia will be an absolutely exciting team to watch this season offensively.

              PREDICTION CHAMPIONSHIP

              FLORIDA STATE VS WEST VIRGINIA

              B1G

The B1G has seen a shift of power each year, so it’s safe to say that the B1G is up for grabs yet again this season. Last year’s race came down to the wire. The B1G’s production outside of conference has been lackluster as they held the worst out of conference record of all the P6 conferences last season. As a result, the B1G only has 3 teams currently in the Top 25 to start the season. Maryland and NIU represented each division last year with NIU winning it’s first B1G Championship. However, Both teams lost a lot of talent coming into the season. Which is why the B1G will be extremely hard to predict on who comes out of it on top.

This season, with so much attrition in the B1G, we believe Penn State comes out the Leaders side of the conference. Penn State finished last season 8-5, but they return 16 starters from last years team. The Nittany Lion should field one of the better defenses in the conference as well.

On the Legends side, Maryland can be the easy choice for them to go to back to back Conference title games. The biggest reason? The return of their Quarterback. Quarterback play has proven to be a huge deal in the B1G and this season bodes to be no different.

              PREDICTED TITLE GAME
              PENN STATE v MARYLAND

              BIG 12 CONFERENCE

USF is the early favorite in the Big 12

The Big 12 has had a huge shift of power. Since joining the Big 12, South Florida has done a good job of contending in the division of the conference and has three Big 12 titles. The reigning Big 12 Champion looks to be in store for another successful run this season. The Bulls have the best Offensive Line in the Big 12 and quite possibly, the entire country. Good news? That entire Offensive Line returns for 2032. If the Offensive Line can continue it’s production from last season and help pave the way for the Bulls running attack, the Bulls might be able to make a run at the College Football Playoff.

Oklahoma State is the team that we believe can contend as well for the Big 12. OK State returns a team with 13 starters and a receiver Trio that might be tops in the country. However, the last two recruiting classes were dominated by SMU. SMU is very young but has a chance to shock a lot of people this season in making a run for the Big 12.

              PREDICITED TITLE GAME

              Oklahoma State vs South Florida

              PAC 12 CONFERENCE

The Pac 12 has been dominated the past 5 years by Arizona as they have 5 straight Pac 12 titles. This year looks to be much of the same as Arizona has reloaded an already star studded roster. We definitely anticipate Arizona to represent the South of the Pac 12, but the question is who will contend the North? San Diego State has been a consistent team that tries to play role of spoiler and they have recruited very well as of late especially in Southern California. However Utah State has the ability to make noise as well to suddenly sneak into the Pac 12 Championship game.

However, another question at hand is what team can be the cinderella story and upend an unstoppable Arizona team. Arizona winning the last 5 PAC 12 championships, has teams gunning to dethrone them. Hawaii has the ability to be that team that can play spoiler to Arizona. San Jose State snuck away with a victory last year against Arizona, but San Jose needs a bit more fine tuning on the recruiting trail to contend for a PAC 12 title. They aren’t far off however.

              PREDICTED TITLE GAME

              Arizona vs San Diego State

              SEC CONFERENCE

At last we have the SEC. The SEC has been topsy turvy on who comes out the East and West. But the question is, is Alabama back? Since the retiring of Nick Saban, Alabama hasn’t been the dominant program that they used to be in years. However, the Tide were able to sign the #1 overall prospect in the country last year Karter Gold at Quarterback and he has immediately turned around the program. The Tide finished 9-3 last year and are looking to build on that momentum as they lost 24 games in 3 years previously before Gold’s arrival.

After losing 24 games in 3 seasons, The Tide went 9-3 last year

The overwhelming favorite to meet the Tide in Atlanta is Missouri who had an amazing season last year but fell short of a National Title losing to Georgia Tech in the College Football Playoff National Championship game. However, Missouri returns 13 starters from last season and look to repeat a run at an SEC Title as well as National Title.

The SEC is extremely competitive this season as it has 6 teams in the Top 25 to start the year. The question remains is who could possibly challenge the Tide or the the Tigers this season? Virginia Tech has a very strong case to challenge to come out of the West this year. TCU also has a strong chance to do so as well, but TCU lost a lot defensively from last season. If TCU can have a strong defensive effort this season, they have a strong chance to also come out of the West.

The East looks to yet again be a Missouri/Kentucky race as both teams have been College Football Playoff mainstays in recent years. However, Florida’s recruiting efforts gives them a Darkhorse chance to also make a case to come out of the East. The only question mark for Florida is Quarterback. If the Gators can get consistent Quarterback play they have a chance to make noise in the East.

              PREDICTED TITLE GAME

              MISSOURI vs ALABAMA

              COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFF PREDICTION

It's definitely way too early to know who's primed to be a playoff contender, but it's never way too early to set playoff predictions. We anticipate two teams from the American Conference in Georgia Tech and Michigan will be one of the top four teams to advance. Both teams have stellar defenses and of course Georgia Tech is one of the most loaded teams top to bottom in the country.

Florida State is in the same boat as far as talent goes as Georgia Tech. The roster is loaded with blue-chip talent and the Noles should definitely come out of the ACC this season with minor blemishes.

The Wildcard is Arizona. The Wildcats are the sure-bet favorite early on to come out the PAC-12, with an absolutely loaded offense with a veteran Quarterback at the helm. The Wildcats have enough firepower to get through the PAC-12 schedule and contend for a playoff birth.

The Seminoles under Cameel Verner have entrenched themselves as one of the nations premier football programs. With two national titles in the last three seasons, the Noles under Verner have undoubtedly been a force to be reckoned with. However, last season the Noles struggled mightly at times on both sides of the ball. The Seminoles seemed to gain traction defensively toward the end of the year. However, the Offense was a constant concern.

With a couple of off-season moves, and additions, the Noles under the tutelage of new Offensive Coordinator Hayden Kiser, now take a different approach to attacking defenses. The Noles now move to a Pro-Style offense, converting from a Spread offense they've run for the previous 4 seasons.

Defensively, the Seminoles still run their patented 3-3-5 defense. Last season, the Noles struggled mightily the first half of the season, this season, the Noles recruited extremely well and have some key starters returning that can help build the momentum of a traditionally stout defense.

                ATHLON'S TAKE: UPCOMING SEASON

The Seminoles come into the 2032 season ranked #1 after a strong performance in the Peach Bowl to end last season. The Seminoles return a loaded roster after losing a ton of key pieces to the NFL Draft as well as the Transfer Portal.

                ROSTER OUTLOOK

The Seminoles return a slew of blue chip talent this season. The Seminoles have built one of the most talented rosters in the country. The Seminoles have a whopping 51 Blue Chip (Four Star and Five Star) players on it's roster this season. The only team with more than Florida State is Georgia Tech with 52. However, an even more impressive number is Florida State leads the country with 18 Five-Stars. Georgia Tech is second with 14.

                SCHOOLS WITH MOST BLUE CHIPS

                1. Georgia Tech - 52
                2. Florida State - 51
                3. Michigan - 42
                3. USC - 40
                T4. Oregon - 36
                T4. Arizona - 36

                SCHOOLS WITH MOST FIVE STARS

                1. Florida State - 18
                2. Georiga Tech - 14
                3. Arizona - 6
                4. Oregon - 4

                WEAKNESSES

                Redshirt Junior QB Clay Tillman

                1. QUARTERBACK

The Seminoles come into the season with a few known weaknesses that may carry over from last season to this upcoming year. One of those weaknesses look to be the Quarterback position. The Noles struggled mightily on offense last season and the majority of it came from poor Quarterback play. And of the Four scholarship Quarterbacks on it's current roster, only two have any type of game experience. Clay Tillman was the starter last season and was a part of a struggling Florida State offense. And backup, Sha'Dar Walker was the hero of the Peach Bowl blowout as he did everything he wanted to vs the Bobcats. The biggest question is which, if either, will emerge as a Quarterback that can take the Noles back to the Playoffs. If not, could True Freshman Terry Washington or Ko'Dallas Avery be the answer?

                2. COACHING

No one will ever doubt the greatness of Cameel Verner. 7 Championships in 18 years will get you that respect. However, the Seminoles are breaking in two brand new Coordinators this season. Neither, of which have any big time coaching experience to rely on. Both will make their Rookie debuts this season. With the way Coach Verner likes to dabble with all phases of the game, the Coordinators will be counted on to earn their keep.

                3. YOUTH

The Noles lost a ton of talent to the NFL Draft as well as the Transfer Portal, leaving a lot of unexperienced talent to fill the void. With a very young team, and a rookie coaching staff, the Seminoles will be asking a lot of players to grow up really fast.

                STRENGTHS

                Defensive End Robert Tate

                1. DEFENSE

The Seminoles might have struggled a ton a times last season, but the Noles looked to have addressed a ton of defensive needs in the off-season. The Spring game was a huge indicator that the team got a much needed makeover from a disatrious first half of the year last season. The Noles appear to have a pass rush, which lacked a lot last season. And the Noles look very athletic on the back end as well. It's not often you worry about a Cameel Verner defense, so it's possibly safe to bet that Verner won't have two straight seasons of shoddy defense. All-American Defensive Back Luron Dixon, who was also the teams leading tackler last season returns for his Junior season and is a Pre-Season All-American as well. The Noles return Senior Bihadda Maddox in the secondary as well, along with Nose Tackle David McNeil-Days and Defensive End Robert Tate.

                2. SPEED

The Seminoles clearly might have one of the fastest teams in the country. The Seminoles have won two straight Track and Field National Titles, largely in-part to the the dual-sport athletes the Seminoles have on it's Football and Track team. Sytavious Graham, Luron Dixon and Orbit Jackson lead the way for the Seminoles Track and Field team. Both Graham and Jackson have world class speed. Teams will have a hard time this season keeping up with the Roadrunners in Tallahassee.

                3. SECONDARY

The Noles boast probably the best Secondary in all of College Football. All-American Defensive Backs Luron Dixon and Ja'Carius Kidd are both consensus top 10 picks. Kidd is the top rated PFF Cornerback in the last 10 years. Dixon, who also competes in the Triple Jump for FSU's track and field team as the leading tackler for the Seminoles last season as well. And watching practices, the upside of Freshman CB Thomas Spiller is through the roof. With the return of Senior CB Bihadda Maddox, the Seminoles have an extremely loaded Secondary that can really give teams fits this season in the ACC.

                SCHEDULE

                ATHLON SPORTS SCHEDULE RATING: B-

The Noles open up the season with a Top 10 matchup against an extremely talented Oregon team. Not many teams can match up roster from Top to Bottom in college with Florida State, but Oregon definitely has a chance to. With the game being hosted in Dallas, with the youth Florida State has this year, this game could really help shape the remainder of the year for the Seminoles.

Outside of Oregon, the ACC has been down as of late. Clemson has had two seasons where it hasnt played up to it's normal standard. The Seminoles only have 2 ranked games outside of it's opener against Oregon, and it's out of conference games also include UAB and Florida. So early on, the Noles look to be in good shape schedule wise to come out of the ACC fairly happy.

                RECORD PREDICTION: 11-1

                KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH

                  WEEK OPENER PREVIEW
                  vs #7 OREGON
                  8:00 PM/ET Dallas,TX

College Football is back! And the journey to the College Football Playoff begins for the Seminoles against a top 10 opponent in the Oregon Ducks at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, TX. The Seminoles, who finished last season 10-3, open as a 1 point favorite over the # 7 Ducks who also finished their season 10-3. While both teams had identical records, they both grabbed momentum going into the off-season with impressive Bowl wins in the post season. And now here we are, only a few days away, a Primetime game on opening weekend, has the Seminoles ready and excited for the task ahead.

"Thats what you come to Florida State for. Big time moments. Bright lights. All eyes on you. Thats what we play this game for. Oregon is a tough, gritty, well coached ball team. We have an incredible task in front of us. They've got playmakers on the outside, a very heady Quarterback under center. They are a National Championship team. They know it, we know it, everyone knows it. We just have to be ready, show up and be ready to play four quarters of football" said Head Coach Cameel Verner.

                  VERNER ANNOUNCES STARTING QUARTERBACK

After months and months of speculation, the fans now have their answer on who will be the starting Quarterback for the Seminoles. Former Five-Star, Sophomore, Sha'Dar Walker will be the guy that takes the first snap in Dallas, TX. It will be the second start of his career as he started in the Peach Bowl last season throwing for 397 yards and 6 touchdowns in his debut. The team counted on him to deliver in a crucial moment in FSU history in the Peach Bowl, now the heat turns up a notch as he will be the one they count on to deliver it's 3rd national title in 4 years. Newly appointed Offensive Coordinator Hayden Kiser has all the confidence in the world in their new starting Quarterback.

"He's a heck of an athlete. He's a heck of a Quarterback. He did really well in Spring ball and Fall camp, and just continued to grow, evolve and get better. He's a natural leader. And he can do some great things for us. He's done an amazing job in picking up the offense, transitioning to a different style of play. A different approach. He's got all the tools needed to just completely take over his career at that position. I'm thrilled." he said.

Walker replaces Redshirt Junior Clay Tillman who was the other only Quarterback on the current roster with starting experience. Tillman had 13 career starts in his career, including starting in the National Championshp game two years ago when the Noles went on to defeat the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets for their second championship under Cameel Verner. Tillman now will serve as QB2 as the Seminoles have two True Freshman behind Tillman as reserves as well.

                  OREGON PREVIEW

                  Oregon WR Spencer Fitch

The Oregon Ducks come in with a barrage of athletes at their disposal, and a possible #1 Overall Draft pick in last season's Maxwell Award Winner Quarterback Zac Hall. The Senior from Gilroy, CA returned to Oregon for his Senior campaign after throwing for 4,215 yards and 633 rushing last season. Hall, at 6'4" 213 pounds has it all when it comes to being an elite Quarterback. The Seminoles will have an extremely tough assignment with Hall this season.

Last season, the Seminoles were one of the worst pass defenses in the entire country, as they finished 94th in Passing Yards allowed. And that doesn't bode well if that trend continues because Hall's number one target is Junior receiver Spencer Fitch. Fitch at 6'3" 210 pounds, has the size and frame that NFL scouts covet. And he has a first round grade on Mel Kipers Big Board coming into his Junior year as one of the best eligible underclassmen.

Chris Weiss transfered from FSU to Oregon this season.

Defensively, the Ducks have one of the best Defensive units in the country including one of the best Defensive Lineman in the country in Ray Stover-Maclin who was recruited heavily by Florida State. He is accompanied by Gary Jones and Micheal Mehall who also was recruited extremely heavily by the Seminoles. To add to that star studded lineup, the Ducks also aquired former Seminole Defensive Lineman Chris Weiss who played 3 years with the Seminoles before transferring to Oregon. Weiss, who is from Sacramento, CA, got an NCAA waiver to gain immediate eligbility will be available during Week 1 at his former school.

The Noles last season lacked a proper pass protection most of the season, but looked to gain their edge toward the end of the season. And so far during Camp, the Line looks a lot more in sync. This will be one of the biggest battles to watch Saturday as the Noles Offensive Line look to establish dominance against an Oregon Defensive Line unit.

                  **** BREAKING NEWS***

We have learned that Sophomore Defensive Back Blake Boyson has been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules. Boykin was a reserve last season for the Seminoles but had an huge impact his Freshman year. He had 34 tackles and two interceptions as a Freshman. He was slated to start for the Seminoles in his Sophomore campaign. The Noles will probably look to Redshirt Junior Colton Hathaway to fill the role or Redshirt Sophomore Kenneth Woods.

Also Redshirt Freshman Jevar Creysac has been ruled Academically Eneligble for the 2032 season. Creysac was a Four-Star recruit from Miami, FL who redshirted last season.

                      UP NEXT: @ NORTH CAROLINA

                      3:30 PM/ET

The Seminoles will travel to Chapel Hill to take on the Tar Heels of North Carolina. This will be UNC's first game of the year, as the game will also serve as the conference opener for both teams. Albeit the Noles came off an impressive Season Opening victory vs Oregon, UNC now has a full game of tape to help dissect for the game against the Noles. But per usual, Head Coach Cameel Verner understands the task at hand and knows the Seminoles have to take care of business.

"They are a very well coached team, extremely balanced. They have some grown men at receiver. They give mismatch problems all over the field with their size. Extremely talented group of receivers. They have a very fast front 7. And going on the road in Chapel Hill will be a task. It's certainly a tough place to play. We've got our work cut out for us. " said Verner

The Tar Heels finished the season last year at 7-5 and 4th in the Coastal Division. However as Coach Verner aluded to, the Tar Heels have reloaded at the skill positions and have some extremely large targets at Wide Receiver.
Last years team leader in receiving was Danny Landry with 67 rec and 842 yards with 5 TDs. Landry, at 6'5" 205 is an explosive target for the Tar Heels. The Tar Heels also have a slew of receivers standing 6'5" or better that the Noles will face this weekend.

                      Danny Landry 6'5" 207
                      Mark Russell 6'5" 195
                      Ben Bellamy 6'5" 218
                      Antoine Morris 6'6" 225
                      Quinn Tremblay 6'3" 220

The size of the receiving corps of the Tar Heels on paper is an extremely scary sight. And it's one that the Noles understand they have to address.

"They definitely have some monsters at the skill positions that's for sure. But we've definitely challenged our Defensive Backs this week. Positioning will be key. So stay true to your fundamentals. Everything else will fall into play. This will be a battle. Only the grittiest will survive." said DC Ryan Dukes.

                      BACK TO THE BASICS

Walker was 15/29 233 yards 2 TDs and 4 INT vs Oregon

The Seminoles have a huge challenge on the road in the ACC Season Opener, and the first person in the film room this week was QB Sha'Dar Walker according to Head Coach Hayden Kiser.

"He knows he struggled at times last week. But I will tell you, he's grabbed the bull by the horns this week. He's fired up. He's been the first person in the film room every day. Learning, working on his mistakes, trying to get better. He's had his best practice all year, even dating back to the spring. He's ready to go." said Kiser.

That statement is welcoming to Seminole fans, as the Tar Heels had one of the better run defenses in the ACC last year, but was pretty abysmal in the passing game. However, All-ACC Cornerback Kourtney Dunn for the Tar Heels was a big time bright spot last season. Dunn, now a Junior, was second in the ACC in interceptions. He's an all too familiar face as his decision in high school came down to Florida State and UNC and with all signs pointing to FSU to get his signature, he signed to UNC.

But with that being said, Walker will probably be relied on more this game with his arm than against Oregon. Outside of Dunn, the Tar Heels struggled against the pass. So if there's any time to gain confidence and possibly get redemption for his lackluster performance, this would be the game to do so.

                      ***BREAKING NEWS***

The Seminoles will be without All-American DB Luron Dixon vs UNC

The Noles will be without a number of key Seminoles for the game vs UNC. First, the Seminoles will be without All-American Defensive Back Luron Dixon who suffered a concussion during practice and will be held out of contact vs the Tar Heels. Dixon's injury is significant, being that Dixon is the true leader of the defense. played all but 3 snaps defensively last game vs Oregon. He was last seasons leading tackler as he went on to receive All-American honors as a Sophomore. Dixon, pegged as a Top 5 NFL Draft pick next spring is a huge blow to the Seminoles defense. Against Oregon just a week ago, he finished second in tackles with 12 and an interception. With Dixon out, the Noles are now without two projected starters in the Defensive Backfield with Luron Dixon being out, as well as Blake Boyson who has been suspended indefinitely for violation of team rules.

The Seminoles will also be without Backup Quarterback Clay Tillman who suffered a high Ankle sprain. Tillman's injury is a significant one, as the two backups are True Freshman, former Five-Star Terry Washington and Former Four-Star Ko'Dallas Avery. If anything is to happen to the Noles QB1, it will be spearheaded by one of the two heralded Freshman on the road.

The Noles also will be without Freshman reserve Lineman Craig Studmire and Lance Mason and reserve Defensive Lineman Marion Whitehead.

                      INJURIES

QB Clay Tillman - 4 to 5 weeks, High Ankle Sprain
DB Luron Dixon - 1 week, Concussion

The Noles came away with an OT victory last season vs Pitt 35-29

The Pitt Panthers opened last week against the #7 Oklahoma Sooners and got off to a very rough start. The Panthers lost in Norman, OK 30-7. However, the Panthers still feel extremely optimistic about the season. Panthers QB Tony Montgomery still thinks the team is a lot better than what was portrayed in the opener.

"We have a lot to prove. We got off to a rough start last week on the road. But we all had a lot of jitters. We felt like we had a ton to prove, and honestly we still do. We are a lot better than what we showed but we just have to keep going and not let things behind us impact the future." he said.

The Panthers surely gained the Seminoles respect a year ago. The Seminoles went into a battle at home last season against the Panthers. In the ACC Opener, Pitt jumped out to a 20-7 halftime lead on the road against the Seminoles early. The Seminoles battled back in a heroic effort, and was able to tie the game 29-29 with 1:33 left to go in the game. In overtime, All-American DB Luron Dixon was able to get a pick 6 which would be the game winner to have the Seminoles escape with a 35-29 victory.

Head Coach Cameel Verner saw first hand the grit of the Panthers, and is doing everything he can to prepare them this time around on the road.

"That is one heck of a ball team we are going to face. They are gritty, and they will not quit. On the road, is always tough to try to steal a victory. We have to prepare our kids well because this one will be a war. Fundamentals will be key. Never stray from your fundamentals. That's what we've been preaching all week." said Verner

The Panthers return starting QB Tony Montgomery and Running Back James Mitchell help spearhead the Panthers offense. Mitchel ran for 88 yards on 15 carries last weekend against the Sooners.

Defensively, the Panthers gave up over 432 yards in the air against the Sooners. The Panthers did lose two important pieces to their secondary from last season as three players went on to be selected in the NFL Draft from the secondary. The Panthers are now young on defense, but have a bit of talent to work with as the season progresses. On the defensive line though, the Panthers do return a pair of brothers Travis and Kyle Pierce. Travis Pierce, was able to get 3 sacks last season against the Seminoles in Tallahassee.

                          NOLES TO LEAN ON OL?

The Seminoles have leaned on their physical offensive line all season up to this point, and there's nothing to believe that will change against the Panthers. In two games, the Noles are averaging over 300 yards per game rushing. And even though, the Panther's strength atleast from one game seems to be their front seven, as they gave up 432 yards through the air, Offensive Coordinator Hayden Kiser says the Seminoles are who they are.

"Of course adjustments and tweaks will be made throughout the game or season. But we know what our identity is. We know what we started way back in the Winter wanting to be. And that's a physical football team. We have the talent to really be as dynamic as we want, but we want to bring the physicality to you. " said Kiser

And up to this point the team has responded. The Noles racked up 334 yards rushing against Oregon in the first week of the season, and another 320 yards last week against UCF. The Seminoles have an abundant of Running Backs as well. Warchant analyst Fred Lee chimes in on the success of the smashmouth approach the Seminoles have taken.

"The Seminoles have a very aggressive Offensive Line. Kiser has unleashed their mean streaks by allowing them to just take over and dominate the game. And honestly, it's a welcomed sight. The problems Defensive Coordinators have now, is that the Seminoles are so physical up front, that if you stack the box, they have Tall, Long, Rangy WRs that can go up top and make plays. The Seminoles have one of the fastest teams in the country. So right now, Defensive Coordinators are trying to figure out the best ways to defend the Seminoles for 60 minutes" said Lee.

                          WALKER'S TURNOVERS A CONCERN

Through two games, Walker has thrown a staggering Nine interceptions. Most in the country. The Former Five-Star recruit has been a dissapointment thus far in the passing area. Which is a cause for concern as the Noles move deeper into conference play. However, Offensive Coordinator Hayden Kiser says the staff has a plan in place to help Walker moving forward.

"He's pressed a lot. The expectations and everything. We as a staff just have to do a better job of putting him in better situations. Quarterbacking sometimes mostly is about comfort. We've got to do a better job of getting him comfortable, getting him in a groove. He's ultra talented. He have to pave the way to let his talent display itself. " said Kiser.

Right now, the Noles have no option but to continue to let Walker sort out hsi growing pains. Backup Quarterback Clay Tillman has been ruled out again against Pitt with a High Ankle Sprain. Which means for a second consecutive week, the Sophomore Quarterback will be backed up by either True Freshman Terry Washington or Ko'Dallas Avery. The coaching staff has not mentioned which Quarterback will be considered the actual back up. But as of now, all eyes are on the current QB1 Sha'Dar Walker

Walker was a former Five-Star recruit from Carol City, FL. His only start last season was in the Peach Bowl against Oregon where he finished with 398 yards and 6 touchdowns. So far this season, the Carol City Product has only registered 3 Touchdowns and 9 interceptions in 2 games.

                              UP NEXT: vs UVA (1-1)

                              3:30 PM/ET

It's the Home Opener for the Seminoles as the Virginia Cavaliers travel to Tallahassee for the Seminoles next ACC game. The Seminoles are currently #1 in the country, 3-0, 2-0 in the ACC, while the Cavaliers are 1-1, 0-1 in the ACC after losing their conference opener to Baylor last week.

"We've got a heck of a ball team coming to town this weekend and it's business as usual. Ignore the critics, ignore the talk. We have to show up and play football. This time last year everyone was calling us overrated, and this year they are singing a different tune. We only are able to control what we can control. We can control our practice habits, the way we prepare, and everything else will fall into place." said Head Coach Cameel Verner.

The Noles won against the Cavs last season 59-26 in Charlottesville, but defensively did not play extremely well. While the Noles Offense clicked on all cylinders last season (which was a rarity last season), the defense sputtered. The Noles allowed 344 yards through the Air on 83% completion rate. This year, the Seminoles know they have to slow down UVA QB Clifton King this time in order to be more successful on defense.

"Last season he did whatever he wanted to do against us. He completed darn near every ball. We have to change that this weekend. He's a heck of a player, and he has the legs to keep plays alive. If we can contain him I like our chances" said Defensive Coordinator Ryan Dukes.

In order to make that happen, the Seminoles will lean on it's tenacious and opportunistic secondary this time around as the Seminoles lead the country with 16 interceptions through 3 games. A major improvement from a year ago. Last season, the Seminoles were ridiculed for a lackluster pass rush as well which aided King's efforts. This season the Noles seemed to have turned around it's pressure on the Quarterback.

"We have to get to him. He hurt is a lot last year." said Junior NT David McNeil-Days. "We have to get after him because he's dangerous. I have a lot of respect for him especially after last season. He's a good player. We've got to get after him in the worst way". he continued.

                              RECRUITING

It's been a relatively quiet first few weeks for the Seminoles recruiting wise. However, the recruiting silence has finally been broken as the Noles received pledges from two recruits in the Sunshine State. Four Star RB Kijon St. James and OG Erik Harvey

                              RB Kijon St.James 5’8” 215 Homestead, FL
                              #27 RB, #204 Overall

OG Erik Harvey 6’6” 355 Maitland, FL
                              #14 G, 303 Overall

The Noles got a much needed power back that fits the system that Hayden Kiser has brought so far this season. He runs well between the tackles, has low center of gravity, excellent balance and enough speed to break long runs.

Erik Harvey is a massive man. The Noles wanted to get more physical up front to continue the physical nature that they have introduced us to this season. And Harvey is a mean one. He's a bruiser, and a road grader. He's an elite run blocker but his pass protection can use some polishing. However, his size and athletic ability is something the coaches absolutely love.

                              ***BREAKING NEWS***

The Seminoles have suspended Redshirt Junior reserve Tackle Marcus Black for violation of team rules indefintely. Black has 6 starts for the Seminoles in his career.

Blake Boyson will return to action after missing the first 3 games.

The Noles have also announced that Sophomore Blake Boyson will return to the secondary this week against Virginia after missing the first 3 games for violation of team rules. Boyson was pegged to be the starter at the Ace (Strong Safety) position prior to the season before being suspended before the opener against Oregon.

                              INJURIES

                              None.
