    Star HB Out For Year

    Ugly Win Comes At Price

We improve to 6-2 with a ugly 13 to 3 home win vs Southern Mississippi. It was a defense game we held them to 200 yards of offense and got just 300. The run game didn't get going with just 3 yards per carry. The lone and game sealing TD came when Lyles hit #1 WR Tyrone Lewis for a 16-yard TD. It's good to see the defense play well with just have 1 sack and 1 turnover.

That isn't the big story as KSU suffered two big injuries #1 HB Ed Childress dislocates his hip a 10-week injury. Then Zach Roach ruptured his disk and will miss 7 weeks.

Ed was having a big year a team leading 530 rushing yards on 6.6 per carry and 4 TD's. He also has 13 catches for 126 yards and 1 TD plus has returned some kicks adding 383 yards which is 21 per. While this is a big loss we are confident in the depth we have at HB and the receiving back Ronald Zimmons (79 ovr) will now move to #1 with Zay Bollinger (81 ovr) being #2. True freshman Clare will continue his role as power HB which is in traditional formations with a FB and Power I. If another injury happens or someone needs a blow, then it could get shaky as the coaches don't trust Anthony Selzner (75 ovr) a 5'6 receiving back. Mike Gentry the B back could get some carries at HB as we have two other FB's that can take that spot. We are going to redshirt true freshman Parker Toone (62 ovr) and Kenya Phenix (55 ovr) so if need be we can play them in a few games. Zimmons has the best hands on the team and Lyles has pinpoint short accuracy so this could open our offense up some for not only this year also next.

We were thin at Safety and now 2 of the 3 we are comfortable playing is hurt. Zach had started the last few games and played well and now for the next 2 games we will have to play a raw player. Sophomore Matt Morris a former 2* with impact dev will likely start. He has a lot of upside so it will be good experience for him Bud Gideon another former 2* with impact dev could will be the key backup and play in certain formations. He is faster then Morris, but not the coverage skills

      Sun Belt Standings
They are 6 teams with 1 loss and a lot of football to go. For KSU a win out and you are easily in the conference championship game.

      Heisman
Juan Good has Texas State at 7-2 with a big time TD to Int ratio of 24 to 3. San Jose State made the move to the Pac 12 and Donnell leads the country in passing yards and they are 7-3. FSU is ranked 14th and probably needs to win out for Godwin to win it. Sermons for Oregon not that great of stats 65%, 20000 yards with 18:6 TD ratio. He makes is as they are the #1 team in the country. Breida from Tennessee is going to win the stats 28 TD to 0 int, the problem is they already have 3 losses

        Defense Wins Championships

Should Fayad Be Starting At QB?

Another game vs a team with a good record as South Alamba comes in 5-2 and its also on the road. If KSU can win this they have a chance to be ranked with the easiest game of the year coming up next

We get way to conservative on 3rd and goal and settle for a FG. We are just trying to run out the clock and get it to half time with the lead on 3rd and long. QB Fayad is a big hole up the middle and goes 60 yards untouched for the TD. Its 17 to 3 at halftime.

The go on a long drive to start the 3rd and cut to to 7. It's 4th and medium and we run Fayad again from the wildcat and it's a 33-yard TD. We got back up 2 TD's on the 14-play drive and its now late 3rd. They are inside our 10 yard line and our best player LB Sua Mix makes a big tackle to save points. The lead is 11 with 9 minutes to go. Its rd down and Lyles has a really bad miss on a easy pass to a HB. We go for it on 4th and short and fail and they take over in good field position. The defense holds again and with 6 minutes to go we are up 8. Fayad again comes up big in the wildcat a 30-yard run on 3rd and long and we are inside the 10. We try a QB run and a pass from the 1 and don't get in the endzone. We are normally conservative and kick the FG, but we go for it here. They are all over the toss and we loss yards. Westerman would bail is out on a pick 6 I think the first of those this year for us. We get our 6th win and it's a big one for the conference race.

The ground game showed no dropoff despite Childress being missing. Zimmons and Fayad both went over 100 yards and we didn't need the FB much this game. We expected more from Zimmons in the pass game as he dropped 3 passes. Sua Mix likely won't win any awards like last year, but he had a big stop in the goal line. It has lead to some wonder if Fayad should be playing more at QB or even starting? Lyles has been solid and is the much better passer. But Fayad is a playmaker with his legs.

          Finally A Blowout Win

          Career Night For QB Lyles

James Madison comes in just 3-9 and the worst team in the conference and its at our place. We do give them credit for awesome uniforms.

We start off with a 13 play TD drive a 1 yard TD catch for Zimmons. Lyles must have heard people calling for Fayad to start as he was 5/5 for 68 yards and a TD. In the 2nd quarter Lyles scrambles on a wishbone pass to make it 14-0. Despite being our powerback and leading the team in carries true freshman Clare doesn't have many TD's He scores just his 2nd on the year. The route is on and it's 21 to 0. We go back up by 21 as Zimmons makes up for those drops last week. A nice looking catch and pass out of the wishbone. They score a TD in the 4th then catch is sleeping and recover the onside kick and score again. That makes the score look closer the it was, but in the end that doesn't matter. Still them scoring as time expires made us mad.

We take advantage of the big lead and play backups all over the place pretty much at all spots. The big store Lyles was awesome 80% passing and 5 total TD's. We had a few banged up HB's so go deep on the depth chart to Phenix HB #6 that's redshirting and he goes for 42 yards. The guy we think will lead our defense next year Alejandro Salcedo as a freshman gets in the game at LB and gets a sack. The big news KSU is ranked 19th after this yea, but not the highest small school team.

Final TD catch at the buzzer for them

            KSU Loses A Big One

Just when it looked like it could be a major Cinderella type of season and jumping up to #19 in the polls. Louisiana beats us in an ugly game 20 to 3 a game where both offenses struggled. We have the same amount of turnovers as points and were held to 2 yards per carry. Both starting LB’s has over 10 tackles and Alex Moe gets another sack. We did lose a pass rusher senior Larry D’Imperio (80 ovr) will miss a few weeks.

It’s now score board watching hoping to get some help and make the conference title game. Despite this being loss #3 playoffs aren’t 100% ruled out. As a 1* school this has been a very successful year coming off last year 6 win season

              KSU Plays Waiting Game

              DL Takes Over

HB Zimmons scores a TD on 3rd down to get us started. We miss a 4th down conversation that leads to them tieing it up. The next play our QB would fumble it at the 35 and that would lead to points for them. Backup QB Fayad gets a rare passing TD to our #1 WR Lewis and we go up 4 with 2 minutes to go till half. Fayad breaks off one of the biggest plays all year a 76-yard TD run. We are up 21 to 10 at half and the ground game is wide open 239 yards.

Zimmons scores his 2nd TD run to make it a 18-point lead. They would score 10 straight and the lead is down to 8 with 9 minutes in the game. True Freshman Clare gets a key 1st down on 4th and 1 at midfield. We end up with a garbage TD by the blocking FB. With the win it's now scoreboard watching time and crossing our fingers we make the conference title game.

A big day from the offense with over 500 yards of offense still it was the defense that impressed us more. They ran the ball well despite not having that highly rated players. It was 8 sacks by this defense including two by Junior Alex Moe who could reach double digits.

                Can KSU Make The Playoffs?

                Conference Championship Preview

Big news for KSU as we win the tiebreaker somehow over Southern Miss and will play in the conference championship game vs Louisiana. We aren't sure how we got the tiebreaker over Southern Miss, but we will take it. The interesting thing is with a win does Kennesaw State jump up to take the small school playoff bid spot which Louisiana does have now. The odds are against it still let's take a look. We also aren't 100% sure how the Pac-10 counts into this, but it looks like they are being viewed as a power conference.

                Key Teams
                #13 Washington (10-2)
                #14 San Jose St (9-3)
                #15 Louisiana (10-2)
                #17 Texas St (10-2)
                #18 Southern Miss (9-3)
                #19 Fresno St (8-4)
                #20 Tulane (9-3)
                #21 KSU (9-3)
                #23 Florida Atlantic (10-2)
                #24 Kent St (10-2)

                Sunbelt
#15 Louisiana vs #21 Kennesaw St

We obviously have to win this one and hope for a big jump up in the polls. Playoffs or not this would be a massive win in year 2 with the rumors of ACC calling. Would we jump up over #18 Southern Miss even with a win?

                Pac 10
#13 Washington vs #14 San Jose St

We think this doesn't affect us and they are counted as a power conference. San Jose State with the best QB stat wise in the country has a chance to win the Pac 10 year 1 so a fun story. Whoever wins this game should make the playoffs.

                Big 12
                Arizona vs UCF

The big 12 schedule was all out of whack this year with losing some teams that's made for a unranked matchup. We hope to fix that next year

                MAC
#17 Texas St vs #24 Kent St

We are pulling for Kent here and its likely the biggest matchup we will be watching. Its hard to see how we would jump Texas St if they win. Them getting it would be fun as they have a QB in the Heisman race.

                American
#20 Tulane vs #23 Florida Atlantic

We prob could use A Florida Atlantic win here as we are ranked ahead of them.

                Mountain West
#19 Fresno St vs Boise St

A even matchup two 8 win teams and Fresno another team ranked ahead of us.

                SEC
                #8 UGA vs #9 Oklahoma

This could be a have to win to get in situation since both have 2 losses. LSU a 9 win team could take the spot if the loser here.

                ACC
                #2 Miami vs #12 Virginia
Miami has been rolling and should win here

                Big 10
                #1 Oregon vs #4 Nebraska

The big 10 is loaded this year another conference that has their schedule all messed up. Three teams in conference all without a loss a epic game.

                Conference USA
                Port Canaveral vs Kornfield

This one is just for pride with Minnesota State now in the big 12

The biggest game in 2 years for just Napier's 2nd conference championship since the rebrand offense. A possible playoff spot lines up and a 10-win season. This game is also on the road for us.

We get it started with a FG and no more points scored until well into the 2nd quarter. Ty Babers has one of the prettiest interception we have seen on a diving pick. Fayad makes it 10 to 0 on a 52-yard run. They have it 1st and goal at the 1 with no timeouts and 16 seconds till the half. They punch it in and that's 2 TD's in the final 2 minutes. We make a mistake on the previous drive throwing on 3rd and letting them save a timeout.

Lyles scores on a short TD run and we retake the lead in the mid 3rd. They would quickly answer next drive and beat us deep for a TD. We are forced to punt and they get a back breaking 31-yard TD run and we are down 11. Its 4th and 6 10 minutes to go and a must get when Lyles finds Zimmons to continue the drive. Power back Clare scores on 3rd and inches and just as big barely gets the 2-point play in. We are back in business just down 3 with 8 minutes in the 4th. Alex Moe our best pass rusher as a DE on 3rd and long breaks up a pass on a big hit. We are down 3 with 7 to go and the ball at our own 37. We are going to try and waste as much time as possible here.

Zimmons gets 25 yard on a toss down to the 12 with 5 to go. We run the true freshman Clare 3 straight times and it ends up being 4th and inches. We are now at the 2 and the biggest play of the year. We have successful ran the clock down to 2:30. We think about it and go with QB blast out of goal line and pickup enough to move the chains. The good news is this allows the 2-minute warning to get past before we score. Clare again gets the TD and we have stormed back to take the lead and just a few plays away from winning the conference.

We know the drill call cover 4 and don't get beat deep. Then something happened our all everything Safety can't catch up and they stun is with a 50-yard TD. The only good news we just need a FG to tie and we have 1 minute and 2 timeouts. Bollinger a reserve HB catches a 24 yard pass down to 48 seconds. Jurovich catches a pass, but we have to use our final timeout. Its now 4th and long and we call a speed option, but can't catch the edge and lose a heartbreaker

KSU wins the Bahamas bowl vs a ranked team 28 to 18. The offense had 357 yards of offense with 200 of those on the ground. The true freshman Clare had 21 carries for 116 yards and QB Lyles threw for 2 TD's.

                      2029 Graduating Class

                      Major Loss (key starters)

                      OG Moses Lacosse (86 ovr)
The highest rated player we had and a 2-year starter at OG. Despite being under 300 pounds had 94 strength and 85 overall run blocking grade. Despite this we return 4 starters on the OL and have G's ready to go for next year. He will barely crack the list of #5 OL Napier has coached despite not getting drafted.

                      MLB Sua Mix (84 ovr)
He won LB of the year last year and was a 2 year start for us and 3 years overall. His junior year had major stats 106 tackles, 23 TFL, 4 sacks and 6 interception. He backed it up this year 97 tackles, 11 TFL, 5 sacks and 2 interceptions. He wasn't the most physically gifted still was mid 80s for coverage, IQ, run stopping and quickness. Because he won LB of the year and some all-conference teams he is the best LB Napier has ever coached and 6th overall

                      FS Tyler Babers (84 ovr)
He never reached his full potential and still lead the country in interceptions his senior year including a highlight one in the conference championship game. A 91-speed safety with 91 catch rating is why he made so many plays and looking back we might should have tried to play him at WR. 162 tackles and 13 interceptions in 2 years. Despite having the interceptions doesn't make the top 25 all time players and is the #3 Best DB.

                      CB Ty Abreu (81 ovr)
A 2 year starter saw his production go way up this year 48 tackles to 67, 1 TFL to 11, and 2 interceptions to 4. A 6'2 CB with 90 speed that could hit you with 86 hit power.

                      CB Connor Westerman (83 ovr)
A 6'2 CB and 94 speed was the fastest on the team and could also cover man or zone. Despite having 91 hands he only got 2 interceptions. A quality 2 year starter, but not good enough to rank in the top 5 players we have had.

                      Mild Loss (mostly backups)
                      P Caleb Redman (71 ovr)
                      OT Trey Grimm (76 ovr)
                      HB Zay Bollinger (78 ovr)
                      DE Larry D'Imperio (79 ovr)
                      OLB Brenton Cornell (82 ovr)

                      No Impact (didn't play)
                      QB Tobias Goff (71 ovr)
                      OLB Jamie Paulo (74 ovr)
                      DT Cedrick Bowser (75 ovr)

overall's listed before ratings coaching boost

                        2029 Final Recruiting

This was a small recruiting class just 16 players so the overall ranking with transfers + recruits combined for just 101st. We officially signed 7 three* and 9 two*. Of the 7 three stars we signed one was a punter and both transfer players we signed. Speaking of transfers we thought we had a amazing class lined up until the bigger schools jumped in and stole our players at the last minute. They were 4 MLB's we went after and lost those to Ole Miss, Alabama, Ohio State and Syracuse. We wanted to go ahead and get our #2 QB next year, but he went with Tulane. The big loss was the first 4* player we have ever went after a 6'4 with 94 speed and 89-man coverage. We were #1 going into the last week until UGA came out of nowhere and stole him. When you are dealing with 2 and 3* you don't see a lot of players playing year 1.

                        Immediate Impact Players

                        FB Shamir Niswander
We are licking our chops to use him and the power back does play FB where his grade didn't dip much. We expect big time upside with star development. His 91 speed, 88 acceleration make him perfect for the flexbone FB. The 85 trucking is the highest at the position and 73 break tackle 2nd. We expect major things from him right away and want 15+ carries a game. He is the big time athlete we have wanted at this spot since we installed this offense. We want him to win a Heisman here

                        TE Brian Duck
A blocking TE that comes over from Smoky Mountain University and should be the #2 TE. He isn't as good as our #1 TE and isn't a threat to catch passes and slow. But has 3 years to play and his blocking will get him on the field a lot.

                        Miles Kasa
Not flashy, but will start at P next year

                        Future Star Players

                        QB Cory Flood
We gave him our word we wouldn't leave with him on the roster a 3* gem that we wish had better then impact development. He will redshirt this year then take over as a redshirt freshman. A scrambler with 82 speed, 86 acceleration and not yet the option king badge. He has a cannon for a arm 94 arm strength with high 70's in accuracy. We hope to get him in a few games and get a offseason training in before starting.

                        OT John Bearden
He was the #2 OT on our transfer board and after losing our top guy we turned our attention to him. We got lucky here as the former 3* is the only elite dev guy on the roster. The good news he was redshirted last year so will need 1 more year of development before we start him. A ton of upside and will be a future star and is already solid run blocker

                        OG Deonte Mann
The 2* comes in with + development and we shine at Devlopment of OL. We like his size and 85 strength just may need 2 years before he starts.

                        DE Troy Swearinger
One of the 3* high school athlete we signed that was a lock to play DE. The 6'4 280 pound speed rusher is in the 80's with speed + 87 strength. We have depth at DE so we will not need him for a while. He should be a pass rusher with his profile. We will probably make him a rush DT down the line.

                        X Factors

                        WR Zach Mond
The 2* is a 6'3 deep threat with 93 speed and acceleration which is the fastest on the entire team. His lack of blocking means maybe he ends up at HB after a redshirt. He has no abilities so a height and speed guy that doesn't really fit at WR and may be to tall for HB. At the very worst he is a KR for us.

                        CB Shawn Cantu
The 6'4 Athlete could have played WR, but was better at CB. With his height and 89 speed is the type of player we like. He is raw but if he reaches his potential also has the hands of a WR.

                        FS Marcus Bouchard
We don't have many underclassman at S with 6 if the 8 Junior or Seniors. The 2 star is very raw (58 ovr). He has speed, but needs to improve a lot as next year he could be 2nd string. If he misses then we will need the portal next year as we don't value S as a position we want to spend a 3* recruit on.

                          QB
It's the senior for both the starting QB John Lyles and Fayad more of the runner. Lyles has came close to reaching his full potential with a 89 grade is tied for the 5th best QB in the country. He was much improved last year with 22 total TD's while cutting the interceptions in half and raising his % by 8. He has shown more speed in camp (+4) so should be more of a threat with his legs. A maxed out 99 short accuracy with 96 arm strength have some thinking he is a Darkhorse Heisman candidate and early NFL draft pick. Fayad had over 500 rushing yards last year and brings mobility 85/95/91/85 and can play WR.

                          HB
A deep HB room returning nearly all of the production at the position and none of them are seniors. Clare lead the team with 700 yards last year and the power back has gained a little speed. The goal for him is 1,000 yards in his sophomore season. Since he runs between the tackles his avg will not be as good as others at the position. Parker Toone a redshirt freshman will backup him and has some upside. Ed Childress was the #1 HB and got hurt middle of last season and has lost his job to Ron Zimmons. Who brings a threat to catch passes with +19 catching and +24 catch in traffic compared to Ed. With Lyles short accuracy that was too much to pass on despite being smaller, slower with less power.

                          FB
This is the blocking role in the offense so not much stats to get here outside of some 2nd and 2 carries. Fred Schulters returns the best blocker on the team and 3rd year starting. His 87-lead block clearly the best on the team. Rudy Mekari a redshirt freshman moves ahead of Donald Pitts who played last year. Rudy is the better blocker and with impact dev has a little more room to grow.

                          B Back (flexbone FB)
This is why we think the offense will go to the next level with the addition of true freshman Shamir Niswander. The fast (91 speed) power back we have wanted for 7 years in the offense. We think he has a chance at 1,000 yards as a true freshman. Instead of just FB dives we can use the FB toss plays and line him up at HB. Last year's starter Mike Gentry will be the backup he averaged over 4 yards a carry and 400+ yards and improved a lot in the fall

                          TE
This isn't a position that will get a lot of stats in the offense its most a blocker role. Anthony Scifres returns for year #3 starting a blocker with solid hands. The transfer TE Duck is the #2 and he is just a blocker. Moncrief the former 3* TE will be pushed down to the #3 TE. He is the only TE to see Improvement this fall (+7). He is easily the most athletic, but may need to move to WR to play next year. Last year just 3 TE's on the roster and this year 5 so more bodies and depth.

                          WR
This is the weakest spot on the offense and got worse with 2 late season transfers. The good news both starting WR's return and Lewis has been the most productive guy Napier has had in this offense. He likely gets pushed down to the #2 WR role with a good fall camp from Jurovich (+10) a taller and faster guy. We had high hopes Tecero (+10), but it looks like he is about maxed out talent wise. The true freshman 3* WR Parker Childres will be #3 and we like his potential. We don't have much depth at all at this position and if need be, QB Fayad can play some snaps here or one of the HB's.

                          OL
If you have been following along you know OL is priority #1 for us and that's why you 2 backups rated mid 80's. We return 4 of 5 starters from last year's really good unit and in a way you could say all 5 starters. RT Zay Longo will start at RT after missing over a year with a injury. This OL isn't fully built like the way we want it just yet, but still it's incredibly deep and one of the best in the country especially at a non-power conference. The one new starter LG Tyler Menzie is the best run blocker on the team. While we have 2 solid C's we may need to play OG over them so could take some mix and matching. We can easily afford to lose 2 starters and not see a drop-off with our OL play. This is a veteran group full of Juniors and Seniors

                            DE
Julius Witherspoon at 294 pounds is a run stopper so will play when not in nickel and a starting caliber player. Kevin Kalu will play all over the place as a 268-pound DE with speed and strength and a power move. Taj Beckner isn't going to start, but is a run stopping specialist with just 58 speed and 91 strength. Vince Lord another slower DE the junior is more of a depth guy

                            Rush DE
Alex Moe returns for his senior year after getting 9 sacks last year. His 92 acceleration with 88 strength and 90 power moves means he should reach double digit sacks. A transfer get last year with star development should get 5+ sacks this year as well. He has one of the best strength and block shedding combos on the team. We are keeping them out of normal starting DE duty to keep them fresh on passing downs. Kevin Kalu the fastest DE on the roster is next man up.

                            DT
Philip Kpassagnon best block shed on the team and some mobility for a 296-pound guy. He has 8.5 sacks the last 2 years and can play DT and rush DT. Adrian Hogg AT 6'4 320 pounds has as much upside as anyone on the team and is just a sophomore. Mid to high's 70's speed with 96 tackle, 85 block shed and 92 strength and is still raw. He had 3 sacks last year after coming over from NC State and improved (+6) more than any DT on the roster. Fred Parish is a undersized run stopper. We like the upside of Sophomore's O'Dell and Stick.

                            LB (sub LB)
Sua Mix is gone one of the top 10 players Napier has ever coached. The #2 LB the last 2 years Brisker is back and he had a good camp (+5). He had nearly identical stats the last 2 years about 80 tackles and 1 sack. The player everyone is talking about Alejandro Salcedo a redshirt freshman and 2nd fastest guy on the team (92). At 6'2 240 pounds with 86 strength and mid 80's for finesse and power move his long-term future could be as a rush DE. He had 85 tackle and 76 zone coverage so can play LB as well and will be LB #1 this year. The one downside is he is close to his potential despite having 0 career starts with just 3 bars of improvement. Hopefully some of the coaching can break past those. We are much more athletic at LB and we total 4 redshirt freshman MLB and the slowest coming in at 88 grade. Kris Schwab similar to Salcedo is close to his potential, but can really run. His specialty is 90 zone converge so he may beat out Brisker for the starting sub LB spot. We have just 9 LB's on the team with none of them being seniors. We have a few other solid guys if need be, but those 3 are big names we hope to be on the field a lot.

                            CB
The biggest question mark on the team gone a pair of multiyear starters. Sophomore Tevin Johnson didn't play last year and is now the #1 after a big fall camp (+8). He is 87+ for man or zone coverage. It's probably going to be trial error as the #2 we like Demario Bakhtiari being 6'2 with 92 speed and clearly the best hands of the group. His 96-catch rating is nice, but some cany turn that into interceptions. He has 85-man coverage, but his zone rating just 70 so not a balanced player. Rashawn Singleton and Jared Mccoy are similar players 5'11 with about 91 speed. Just Singleton gets the edge with better zone rating. Freshman Tyler Rambo is also in the mix 6'1 with solid zone and man ratings. He also has some upside.

                            S
We lose a big-time playmaking who led the country in interceptions. Fred Hoke moves over to FS a very highly rated player who missed half the year. Let's hope the 99-catch rating and new position can lead to more plays then the last 2 years. We aren't sure who starts beside him with Senior Zach Roach being the expected name. He started a few games last year and had 32 tackles, 1 sack and 1 interception. While he has speed, not a lot else to hang his hat on. Freshman Tyler Baskerville is in the mix a high rating and the former 2* had a big camp (+16). The thought is if you are just going with a athlete at least go with the young guy and he is the best tackler. Junior Matt Morris is a guy we like but his zone rating is much worse than Tyler's. Bud Gideon is the fastest and has + development with upside, but is already a Junior so likely doesn't reach his ceiling. Junior Jeremy Runyan a 6'2 converted CB has the best zone rating of the bunch with 92.

                              Biggest Win In Napier Era

Opening week at home vs a ranked team, but that team is #25 Texas State. We are the better team on paper and they must replace a QB that was in the Heisman race all year. A big 47 yard for QB Lyles showing off his faster speed would lead to a TD catch by Zimmons. They have it 1st and goal at the 1 our defense holds them to a FG and they miss a 20-yard FG. Lyles gets a TD run to extend the lead. We turn it over for the 2nd time in a row this time while just trying to run clock to get it to halftime. It was a odd, deflected pitch that is caught by another defender. What was looking like a big win is just a 4-point lead.

They get the ball to start and just destroy us on screen passes and they score and just like that we are now down 3. Our defense forces a 3 and out and we tie it up in the late 3rd with a kick. They answer with a TD, but a holding call tags points off the board. Then their kicker misses his 3rd of the game, and he is very highly rated (91 ovr). Then it's reversed we break off a 75-yard TD run by the QB and it's called back for holding and this is under 2 minutes to play. Its a tie game with just 1 minute to play and we have a must convert 3rd and 8. We find Zimmons for a huge catch down to the 30 and catch them in a blitz. Our TE catches a pass and gets out of bounds saving us a timeout. We have it at the 32 with just 16 seconds to play. We hit the walk off 45-yard FG to win game 1 vs a ranked team

The 2nd game vs Port Canaveral not a terrible team last year and it's on the road. We start out up 8-0 with 2 FG's and a safety. Then our defense just absolutely dominates this game vs the run-oriented team and hold them to 162 yards of offense. We even played backups the 2nd half and still shut them down. We win 60 to 3 the biggest win we have ever had. The 426 yards of offense we had was nothing special, but 2 defense scores and another sitting up a score. The run game could be living up the hype another 300 yards on the ground.

                                5 Big Early Season Storylines

                                1. The biggest game of the year is in week 3 @ Auburn. As of now they are the only other guarantee ranked team we will face. They are a better team then us and at home so we are the underdogs in this one. A win here and become huge favorites to make the playoffs

                                2. Redshirt freshman Alejandro Salcedo was the favorites to be a breakout and all conference level player year 1. The speedy LB with size had 11 tackles game 1 and then got hurt last week. He Broke his thumb with the bye week he may only miss 2 games. He had a sack last game before getting hurt

                                3. All eyes preseason were on FB Shamir Niswander the guy Napier has been searching for 7 years for the position. He has lived up to the hype and will be counted on a lot next week. He has 21 carries for 141 yards so 6.7 per carry.

                                4. We said all along depth was on this DL the strength of the team. We knew about the likes of Alex Moe, Doug Maddox and Kevin Kalu. A new name emerged with the backups in the game last week Roger Wilkins. The Sophomore had 2.5 sacks and has earned more playing time. He is a former 3* recruit with impact dev and was signed before we took over. At 6'4 288 pounds has 86 strength and 87 acceleration. He needs the block shed to improve before he starts.

                                5. This team will go as far as John Lyles will take them about the 6th highest rated QB in the country. The 6'5 224-pound field general hasn't had to do much yet. He has improved passing % by 4 and averagin1g 1 more yard per carry. I don't think we can beat Auburn without him playing well
