NBC is a broadcast station, so I don't include that. Any cable channel owned by Comcast allows them to either not allow other distributors to have the channel or to try an charge high amounts for the channel.

This is the same thing that Turner did with TruTV HD. No one carried the channel until they chose to put games on it because they wanted to increase the $ per subscriber fee for the channel.

Current TV contracts were negotiated before Comcast bought NBC, will be interesting to see how competitive they are to keep what they have and/or try to get more Football on NBC.

As long as its a channel Dish Network can get, and it is offered in HD, I'm good to go....

NBC's at the NFL's mercy. They have to keep football, because it's the only massive ratings draw they have.

They'll likely overpay, but I can't see SNF going anywhere else after the next TV contracts come up.

I would hate Thursday night games all season. Part of the charm of Thursday night games was that the season is winding down, things are getting more important, its late fall/wintertime, stay at home and watch some big football. And only from Thanksgiving Day on. I dislike the fact that its started in early November the last few years.

Plus it'd take one game away from Sunday. Screw that.

A Thursday night games package is another lucrative TV contract that will help grow revenue and bridge the gap between the owners and players.

I'm all for Thursday games if it helps get a deal done, also gets more teams out there for viewers to watch. However if it's in NFLN again that sucks cause I don't have it currently

Why is that so bad? Even if you have Sunday Ticket there's no way you can actually watch every game on Sunday afternoon. As some others have said, I just view it as one more game I can watch. I typically follow 2 games at 1 pm and one or two of the 4 pm games, depending what those games are.

If the game is interesting enough to you that you would have made it one of the 2 to 4 games on which you keep a close eye on Sunday afternoon, I don't see how it's a bad thing that you can watch it entirely on Thursday night without neglecting other games.

If on the other hand it's not interesting enough to be in your "main" games on Sunday, then why do you care that it's not played on Sunday? Just don't watch it. Just my opinion.

I wonder how the quality of play is on Thursday Nights. Are there more missed assignments due to less preparation time? Are there more injuries? Are there more turnovers? Any signs that execution/performance is worse than in Sunday games?

There used to be a time when players and fans used to grouse about TV dictating schedules which might lead to less than optimal performance, things like basketball games being scheduled too tightly.

But it seems it's just accepted these days that the game has to make all kinds of accommodations for TV.

Do you consider the Thanksgiving games lesser in quality play? I ask because that's essentially what these Thursday games are like for the teams playing them. There's also the added benefit of having a longer week from thursday to the next sunday or monday depending on their schedule.

I'm asking, I don't know if there's evidence one way or another.

But it seems the coaches think they need every day of the week between games. They even note that it's more difficult to play the Sunday following a MNF game.

And there doesn't seem to be too many fans of the London games either.

Maybe they could do things to minimize any impact, like make the matchups all from nearby cities. That is, no team has to take a cross-country trip to get to the Thursday Night Game.

I don't really think there is a problem with the actual style of play, cause usually NFL don't put in new plays or anything they just work a bit on what they need to and scout the other team. Thursday games just mean more cramming in fewer days.

Only major problem is a guy who might typically be injured and still be able to play on a Sunday may not be able to play in a Thursday game due to short rest

One idea floated, would be a 8/8 split. NFL Network and another network
