The lockout will be lifted Thursday.

After that...watch the hell out, who knows what will happen after Thursday, gonna be a frenzy never seen before.

I'm starting to get in the football mood man, summer hasn't seemed like summer without football. Once the lockout is lifted and free agency/the offseason madness starts I'll be glued to ESPN all day.

The rookie wage scale will be huge. It used to take forever to sign the top draft picks, not having to worry about that will really help out in this shortened offseason.

Not sure where you read this, but an agreement in principle will probably be announced early next week, owners would vote Thursday. Lockout probably won't be lifted until they can arrange to get in front of the different judges and they accept the settlements.

There will be lag between the new CBA and the start of the season as well so teams can prepare to open their doors and also learn the new rules.

I can't wait for the free agent chaos. That should be a ****load of fun. Watching ESPN and having reports coming in constantly of a new guy signing with a team...

it's definitely going to be a crazy free agency period that's for sure. I can't wait to see this CBA finally ironed out as i'd like to go through the whole thing because as a fan of a small market team I hope there's some safeguards in place for teams like the Bills, Bengals, Jags etc etc.

Also it will take draft day to a whole new level. Teams won't be nearly afraid to move up to a top 5pick.

The only problem IMO is that it could lead to more Elway/Manning type shenanigans where the player whines so much to the point that a team with the #1 pick may have to trade the player they selected.

If the player doesn't have a baseball contract. I don't see the Eli stuff happening again. With preset values based on draft position there isn't a lot of benefit to sitting out a whole year. Especially when you can't profit from it the next year.

So as soon as all this is over does free agency start?

And hopefully it doesn't take another week or so for players to get into the film room, get physicals etc once the CBA is signed.

Not right away, a date will be set for the start of the league year though. It won't be right away but we'll know how long we'll have to wait.

If this derails things I might be sick.

Players apparently are making a last-minute power play

it looks like the players opted — through their lawyers — to make a power play on Saturday ...

As ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported earlier today, the players want $320 million in benefits that weren’t paid during the uncapped year, as well as a one-year limit on the use of the franchise tag. Also, if the “lockout insurance” case must be settled separately and apart from the financial package negotiated by the league and the players, it’s possible that another nine-figure sum could be demanded. And to the extent that the Brady antitrust lawsuit needs to be resolved via something more than the contents of a new CBA, the players still could demand even more money and/or special treatment for the named plaintiffs, such as an agreement never to use the franchise tag on any of them.

                            Good God....

I hope this is just sabre rattling on the players' part. Both sides are greedy bastards but this would make the players look really really bad.

I don't think De Smith has the balls to ruin an essentially done deal. All the posturing he did to make the players appear victimized would vaporize, and I don't think he's willing to get that amount of heat. I won't hold a grudge when the CBA is agreed to, but until then...if De Smith runs this off-course, I'll be absolutely numb...so close to football, and then gone...

in regards to the players last minute power play NFL.com Albert Breer did mention on twitter last night about these new issues saying they won't be deal breakers or be enough to derail a deal

and so i think its safe to say these issues will be resolved just like breer said they will get resolved because losing one week of preseason and 200 million is not worth it to both sides and i agree with him

as these are just minor issues that will get resolved so i won't worry unless they say otherwise but all indcations still point to this getting finished tuesday or wensday for voting on thursday by the owners!!!!! go chiefs!
