    Heres what I would do

have the 17 games a year 1 extra game, 3 pre season games (exclude that rubbish 4th pre season game)

BUt have 2 BYES during the season, that will give players the extra rest, every team still has 8 home games and the final game is played at a netual ground around the world, could be anywhere London Sydney, Toronto it expands it all

I love the idea of neutral site games, it's the only chance I'd get to see the NFL in Vegas if/when we ever get a stadium done. You could conceivably have the 'neutral' site be other NFL stadiums too... dolphins @ ravens in Phoenix for example.

As for player rest, a lot will change both preseason and during the season relating to workouts and stuff that will reduce the wear and tear, I think a 2nd bye would only happen in an 18 game season, and even then maybe not.

Forgot to add it would also make more revenue for TV rights and ownders they would then have the extra 2 weeks of the season. to show games, and players would have the extra week off, and no meaningless pre season game. and the NFL would be exapnaded throughout the world

I honestly don't see how that would work. Given the price of an NFL ticket I don't know how many people would spend the money to watch a team they aren't invested it. Me for example there is no way that I would pay to watch niners/sea-chickens at FedEx dropping over $100 per ticket and another $30-$40 on parking. Not to mention having to eat. Seems like it would be a lot of money for team that I don't care about.

Only way I could see 17 games working is the last game is like college it becomes a home and home series so in 10 years each team has had 5 additional regular season games. But I really don't see having teams play in other teams stadiums making any real money.

It's interesting but for a couple years in the early/mid '90s the NFL did HAVE 2 byes. I always wondered why they stopped that.

Yeah, eff that noise about games being played outside home markets. Stupid idea. I already hate the idea of international games, much less that.

              16 games, 8 home/8 road. Pretty simple.

International games aren't going away... You'll have plenty to hate for the forseeable future. I believe there was talk of going to multiple international games per year before labor stuff started heading downhill.

You are right, but why not not host preseason games abroad? I mean why take a game away from the fans here? American football will never be as big abroad as it is here. I could understand basketball and even hockey playing games overseas, but there isn't a lot of talent outside of the US for football and when Christiano Renaldo can get 150 million to play soccer why would European kids throw that away for a chance to make significantly less to play a sport that isn't as big in Europe. I haven't had season tickets in about 5 years, but if I was a fan and I ended up losing one of the games that counts for a season I would probably not renew my tickets. Again I'm only speaking about myself but I don't want to lose a home date so that my team can play a game in London.

I know the international game isn't going away, but I think this should be a preseason game, give the rookies and fringe guys a chance to go abroad on the dime of the NFL and the team. Just my $0.02.

I don't think players getting aclimated to playbooks and trying to start getting into gameday routines should have to go through the international stuff during preseason. These guys are pros, but without the scheduled bye and stuff that goes hand in hand with the international games now I think it would be unreasonable and unnecessary to ship a couple teams off to London. Some of the international venues close to home... sure why not? Toronto, Mexico City, etc. The Bills did that in 2010, though that's practically their home market.

Along the same lines of the above... would be awesome to see preseason games appear at neutral fields all over the country. They're not going to pack 60k people in for many of them, so even the smaller 20-30k sized venues like Sam Boyd here in Vegas could host a preseason game. Charge $20-40 a ticket and you can count me, my family and all of my friends in. I'd probably pay to go see almost any 2 teams.

I love this idea, though. I know that so would most season ticket holders. One less game to pay for especially a game many don't attend anyways. Something the NFL should consider. Plus it could have a positive PR impact with some clinics and player meet and greets and the various venues.

We're probably the exception, but I believe Lambeau sells out pretty much every preseason game. That's a lot of revenue you'd be taking from us by moving the game to a smaller venue outside of Wisconsin.

Also, I don't think there's anything stopping teams from doing this anyways. I'm pretty sure the teams schedule preseason games themselves. If they wanted to go play in Vegas or whatever, there's nothing stopping them outside of the revenue loss.

8th circuit has ruled the lockout legal. There are enough nuances Esther than a slam dunk that it's not just a huge win/leverage for the owners. For instance, they said the NFL could still be found in violation if antitrust law if the lawsuit is successful which could carry a $12b monetary damages component if they lost.

Just what I quickly gleaned from Twitter, plenty to be found there and PR foot al talk.com for those that are interested.

Most of the talking heads agree so far that it shouldn't impede or implode current talks/progress they've made over the last several weeks.

Based on? It will take weeks to get the details of a deal done and approved by courts, lawsuits settled, etc.

Even if they agreed today they'd probably need most of the rest of the month to get it into legalese and do the above. After all of that is complete the lockout will be lifted and the NFL will be back in business.

Handshake deal, open FA and camps while the lawyers draft up the finalized documents to be signed and make it official. Players want FA and owners want the money from pre-season games.
