Only three games left in the year anyway I can see why they did it tbh. This team isn't making the playoffs.

4 of the 5 Kazee "incidents" this year have been overturned upon appeal. That list makes things look much worse than they actually are.

Re: NFL Off Topic
Exactly. It is a very awkward situation. They do weekly press conferences with coordinators. I wonder if they are going to make him still do the pressers. That would be very awkward to have to comment on the defense when you're not calling plays anymore.
What makes it more questionable is that the schedules lightens up drastically. They play the Seahawks(who might not have Geno Smith), Giants twice, and Arizona. So, I don't see why you dont just stick it through the rest of season with Desai. There's no real win in this situation. If the defense "improves", it'll get discredited because the last games aren't as difficult. If doesn't improve or get worse, it signals that you have to make drastic changes. This feels like a trial period for Patricia for next year for DC. That's the only thing that makes sense.

Eagles season setting up for self destruction in 3…2…1…
If they can right the ship, they’re not in a bad spot as the 5th seed. Gotta play on the road, but it’ll be whoever doesn’t lose the NFC South.
They’ve pissed away their lead and pretty sure SF has tiebreaker over them (not sure if H2H or something else), so it would be hard to get a first round bye and if ya do pull out the East, you’re probably going to get a recently hot team (LA, MIN, SEA looks ready to win again) which by record they’ll have max 10 wins but all have had turnarounds of some sort.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Okay, this clown needs to go...I'm so sick of him and his BS!....
Steelers WR George Pickens explains why he didn't block on run near goal line vs. Colts: Didn't 'want to get an injury'
On Tuesday he explained the decision. In short, he didn't want to get hurt
As the great Terry Bradshaw has said, Tomlin is a cheerleader.People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

Re: NFL Off Topic
He’s going to find himself out of a job doing **** like that. Might be his goal. I think he would be much quieter if the offense wasn’t totally inept from Week 1. Pickens is a oddball from what I’ve read, but his shtick has to be wearing thin already.
Steelers commitment to steady as she goes is making them look bad this year. They’ve been around the last few years but they’re stuck in that middle tier of decent success with nothing really to show for it. Might be time to make some major changes.
It’s always hard to move on from a coach who wins regularly but sometimes a change of scenery is best for all. Teams are chasing championships nowadays, not just winning records. Might have to take a step back to take 2 forward.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Watching the All-22 videos really has me wondering what is going on with Hurts. Listening to Philly sports media the latest conspiracy theory is that the HC and OC are telling Hurts where they want him to go with the ball pre-snap.
IDK if it's this or if he's simply regressing. All I know is that the HC and OC are catching heat for a "stale, predictable and unimaginative offense that lacks motion and creativity."
Meanwhile when I re-watch our Offensive Snaps (incompletions) there seems to almost always be someone WIDE OPEN running free and Hurts just doesn't throw them the ball. Especially in some of the critical situations like his 2nd pick at the end of the Seattle game. Gainwell is RIGHT there with NO ONE within 10 yards but Hurts forces it to AJ for the pick.
Is Hurts not seeing these guys? Is he regressing? Is he being told he has to throw deep balls on certain plays even if the under routes are wide open? Why is Sirianni saying he wanted Hurts to throw to try to draw a PI call? What is that all about?
Hugh Douglas thinks Hurts wore the Jordan Brand gear pregame to make his own "flu game" statment and was intent on playing HERO ball. The dink and dunk was working and Hurts just abandoned it in the 4th quarter in order to force home run balls...why? He lost the Eagles the game with his picks and then talks about lack of commitment. The defense, on the road, starting a bunch of rookies, with a new play caller, held the home team (I don't care if it's a back up) to 13 points with under 5 minutes to play in the 4th. That's pretty good IMO. Why did the offense refuse to dink and dunk the game to victory?
This has turned into a really strange season all of a sudden.Last edited by inkcil; 12-22-2023, 03:20 AM.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Re: NFL Off Topic
Trent Williams is the overwhelmingly obvious choice for MVP. He's the best player on the best team. And they went 0-2 without him so he's clearly a difference maker. He's also the highest drafted and highest paid player on the team. NFL awards are being dumbed down.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
An offensive lineman is never going to win MVP. We all know that.
I think a case could be made for Williams. All the pundits love to talk about how easy Purdy has it with all the weapons he has. What never gets mentioned is that, other than Williams, the line is pretty mediocre. There's a reason most of the success running the ball is to the left. And Purdy often has to elude pressure that's usually coming from the right side.
I'd probably go 1. Williams, 2. CMC, 3. Purdy for Niners MVPs. And you could also argue for Deebo. Don't really care about MVP though. Give it to Lamar or Tua or Tyreek. I want that trophy in February.Comment

Re: NFL Off Topic
As explained during the Bengals-Steelers pregame show on NBC, the Steelers have no desire to make a change. And they have no reason to think Tomlin wants to leave the place where he has worked since 2007.
In fact, a source with knowledge of the situation tells PFT that the Steelers intend to extend Tomlin's contract before the 2024 season begins. Already, Tomlin is directly involved in roster planning for 2024 and 2025. He's giving no indication that he's unhappy or disgruntled or ready for something new.
I guess Rooney likes being mediocre, because that's all this team will continue to be...I am literally disgusted at this news...
The Steelers will NEVER win another SB with Tomlin, there is a laundry list of issues with this team, this team needs a coach, NOT a damn cheerleader!People are for reviews if it backs their argument, and against them when they don't.“I believe the game is designed to reward the ones who hit the hardest – If you can’t take it, you shouldn’t play!” Jack Lambert“Quarterbacks should wear dresses.” Jack LambertComment

I love this take, even if it's tongue in cheek, elite OL are invaluable. SF without Williams, Detroit without Frank Ragnow, Dallas without Zack Martin, they don't function rightWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment

When they smashed my Eagles, 5 of the 6 scoring players were to his side of the line and the 6th scoring play began as a misdirection to his side. He is central to all of Shanahan's offensive schemes.
He is their unanimous MVP. The only way to beat the 49ers is to attack him (with double teams or tricky coverages that trick him into going after the wrong blocking assignment).
Otherwise your offense just has to outscore them.
And I believe they were 0-3 without him.Unofficial OS Ambassador of "CPU vs. CPU"

Re: NFL Off Topic
He is probably the best player in the NFL (if looking at pure dominance of their position) & he's a lock for the HOF, so not winning the MVP (as near impossible as that is for any o-lineman to ever do) shouldn't feel that bad. [emoji38]
Crazy to think he left DC because of the pure incompetence of the prior ownership/medical staff. If their dumb asses had done right by him, and not nearly killed him with a misdiagnosis, he'd be having his best seasons with the Commanders.
One of many, many blunders by that POS, incompetent group.
