Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
It has been so wet this year that I haven't been able to sneak out even on better weather days, except for the driving range.
Next week its supposed to be in the mid 60's to 70. Hoping to at least play 9 holes sometime, even if its at the Par 3 course. Just somewhere to swing a clubI can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

The OS Golfer's Thread!
Just got back from my trip to Sawgrass. Another very good getaway. The complex and experience as a whole is a hell of a time. Very convenient accommodations. Played Dyes Valley on Tuesday. That was a hell of an introduction. Greens were blistering fast. Took a few holes to get used to the speed. Cut through the wood with a ton of water. Fired an 81 there, felt really good about it. Would definitely playing if anyone ever heads down that way.
As for the main event, the Stadium Course at TPC Sawgrass was something magical. Unreal. It’s a difficult test. Fairways are not wild. And when you run out of fairway, there’s a bunker, water, pinestraw, or penalizing rough waiting for you. From #1 on it presents quite the challenge. 15-18 live up to all the hype. 15 I ripped a fairway wood from the bunker up the right to 20ft, which was my second most memorable shot of the week, two putt par. 16 is a tough test. Made my par here, but couldn’t help but see what what waiting for me. We’ll jump to 18. Man, you can’t possibly convince yourself to take an aggressive enough line. It’s a daunting tee shot. I hit it through the fairway into the pine straw. Wasn’t terrible, but took a bogey, I’ll say I was avoiding the gator chilling on 18. I ended up firing another 81, playing 15-18 at one over par. Back to #17. It’s haunting. It’s intimidating. That green looks so small. The stands were already up for the tournament. There was a silence to it. It’s by far the most nervous I’ve ever felt in a tee. My two playing partners rinsed their initial tee shots. I pulled mine a touch, but it was cutting. Hit the wood around the green short left, bounced up, hit the hill mid way and came to rest 20 feet below the hole straight up hill, with about 3 feet between being safe and being wet. Got the putt up there and walked away with my 3. The caddies said they’ve never seen a ball hit the wood and stay on the green. Whew.
Hell of a complex. I know it’s not cheap, but I would certainly recommend this one to anyone.

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Awesome, BDK - thanks for sharing! I played Dye's Valley last year. Had a great time. I think I shot like 95 or something there...could not get used to the green speeds until it was too late (!). Sawgrass was closed so I couldn't play it - which is a bummer, because while I had a great time down that way, I can't imagine any reason I'll ever be back. It's not exactly close to anything out there...
The place is manicured to such amazing perfection, I actually felt bad every time I gouged the grass with a wedge. Beautiful grounds and a fitting home for the PGA Tour.Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Can't find this info. Last year I was able to watch early coverage of The Masters on ESPN Plus. Is Paramount Plus taking over some of this early coverage this year or will I still be able to watch all of the early coverage on ESPN Plus?Comment

Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!
Not sure about ESPN Plus, but I watch The Masters every year thru their own app or online at Masters.com. It's free in the US, and they have some form of coverage from early in the day until the end of play. Here's the schedule:

I've been thinking about getting some cheap clubs and taking lessons. Never played "actual" golf before.Boston Red Sox
