With the SM5s coming out, the Vokey SM4s should be coming down in price.

Got my clubs back from getting regripped, and I am taking Wed-Fri off this week. Gonna hit the range on Wednesday and maybe play 9 holes, just to get back into the feel of things before the Touney on Friday.

Theres nothing wrong with old wedges. My sand wedge was $12 at the golf store and I shoot in the low 80s mostly. Don't need the best clubs to be decent.

I just say that because you said you don't meant used, nothing wrong at all with used clubs. Golf global has some really nice wedges used I was looking at for a great price.

If you must go new, I'd go into a golf store and grab some and maybe even take a few swings. What works for one doesn't mean it works for another.

I had a total hip replacement on my right hip a few years back after injuring it almost 20 years ago. I had mine done in November and was playing pain free golf by April. I golfed with weight on my left side because of the hip for so long though that I still haven't got the weight transfer thing completely down yet. Its really odd, a couple of times a summer I will pound a drive out there in the 320 range, most of the time 250 feels like a really solid drive and I think that's because I am swing with my arms instead of starting the swing with the lower body because of the hip.

I've been told my swing is mostly arms in the past and I can't wait to actually be able to load up on this right leg and use some more lower body in my swing. I'm hoping it will help my distance as well. Looking forward to getting back closer to 100%.

Depending on how long you have adjusted your swing to accommodate your hip will determine how quickly you can go out and get back to a perfect golf swing. You wouldn't think it would be, but starting the swing with your arms is a hard habit to break. I was basically golfing on 1 leg because if I put to much weight on my right leg in the back swing, I would get off balance. The positive benefit of staying stacked over my left leg way a nice draw consistently off the tee. The negative was loss of distance do to starting the swing with my arms and casting the club and many painful rounds, but the joy of golf outweighed the pain. I've taken some lessons, but its a very hard habit to break, I still start the swing with my arms unless I'm completely focused not to do it. What's even more disappointing is that I was driving the ball further off one leg on many occassions than I am now with the new hip. Can't wait for the Spring Thaw and getting back on the range.

I was wondering what you guys would recommend. I def like Cleveland's wedges. Have Cobra irons and driver. I feel like I need to get a new bag since I have slowly taken all the Callaway's out lol.
I go Cleveland, theyre simply the best imo. Vokeys are nice, but I'm far too used to Cleveland to make the switch. I'm also fond of Callaway wedges.

Like TheBleedingRed21 said, there's nothing wrong with old wedges ... *unless* they have laser milled grooves. They do wear down making the club less effective for backspin, but if youre not a big on backspin it doesnt really matter any way. For the record, I had a Cleveland 60º wedge with laser milled grooves. After a season and a half I was frustrated with my flop shots bouncing too far past the flag, and my friend noticed I wasnt spinning as much. I checked my grooves and the laser milled ones were worn out. I had some extra cash so I bought a new Cleveland and everything was back to normal. Just be aware, it depends on how you plan to use it.

                Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Playing in a 4 man shotgun tomorrow for my first round of 2014. Went to the range yesterday and got a little discourages as I was so amped to take full swings my hips were racing through impact so I was pulling everything. tried to slow down and my arms started to lag and I was pushing.

It was windy so my goal of gauging my distances didn't really work so tomorrow should be very interesting to say the least. Feeling good about my chipping and pitching game though, been working on that a lot this winter trapped in the house.

This also means that I will be using my game golf for the first time tomorrow. I will let you guys know how it is.

                    Re: The OS Golfer's Thread!

Game Golf is pretty cool. Played in the 4 man today so its not an accurate reflection of my round, but the 2nd hole (our 18th) was all me so here are two quick pictures from the app, once you have loaded your round.

First the overall hole and how it was played. I went last and guys were beat, so I took a little more club an 8 iron and tried to do a "knockdown" kind of shot with it. You can see the yardage it went and where it landed on the green. One cool think is that you can move the points to be more preceise if you remember. This one was originally in the center of the green, but I moved to be a better representation of where the ball went.

Second is what happened on the green. I two putted almost made the long birdie but ball broke 4 inches infront of the cup for an easy par tap in. Only think that I wish they could/would fine tune is the feet/yards of putts. I know that is asking a lot of GPS satellite technology on the device, but I can dream a little dream.

One thing you really have to remember is to touch it EVERY TIME. There were quite a few times where I would forget to tap the club to my belt and remember as I was walking off the tee box or whatever only to have to "run" back to the spot and touch it to my belt. I say I would be better about this if I was just concerned with my own round, but in 4-man format I was gauging wind, elevation club selection etc, so I wasn't fully focused to say the least. So there were a few holes where it looked like I got a hole in one on a 560 yard par 5 for example because I only touched the sensor on the tee box. Which then jacks up your score. But it was the perfect format to try it out and I am very pleased with it to say the least.

I'm on the same boat. I'm heading to Orlando in April, which will likely be my first time this year. I'll play Lake Buena Vista and another one, which I forgot the name of. Two rounds at each, and they're both PGA quality.
