        The OS Golfer's Thread!

Had a good time Sunday. We played teams best ball. Looking forward to playing again soon with the nicer weather now in SE Texas. For not playing in a year I played decent. My strong game is pitching/chipping around the green and putting. Hit a couple good irons. Driver was DOA.

Starting the John Daly 30 for 30 now. About a month or two ago on the golf channel they were showing some old tournaments and one was when John Daly burst onto the scene. Enjoy watching the classic and seeing the golfer my uncle and I grew up watching.

Around my area, they are closing the Golfsmith stores. I loved these stores much more than Dick's. I was able to get a new set of Callaway clubs before they closed for $250 off. I had been playing with a set of Adam’s for quite a while now. If only it weren’t 35 degrees out.

Since Denver weather seems to have not realized it's almost December, I'm gonna take advantage and get a round in tomorrow. The courses out here must be loving this continuous warm weather.

              Couple questions for you guys...

I remember a few months back when Nike announced they were pulling out of golf equipment there was discussion here of that new manufacturer in clubs, that was doing some interesting things. I can't recall the company, and I can't find the posts. I think it started with an H? Anyone recall? They had some pretty interesting and innovative stuff. I was chatting with a coworker about it yesterday and I just cant remember the name of the company.

Also, around that time there was chatter of Adidas trying to sell off Taylormade. Did anything ever come of that?

Finally, I was chatting with a client of mine the other day about my struggles with my Taylormade drivers (R15 & the aeroburner), he said he had the same problems as me, and he picked up the Ping G30 SF Tech, said it helped. Of course, I know everyone is different, etc, etc. Just wanted some general opinion from anyone here who may have that in their bag.

The only one discussed here that I could find was UA.

I haven't heard anything about any new club company.

Yes, adidas has apparently sold off TaylorMade, but we won't even know who bought us until probably sometime in January, most likely.

I know Mike here loves his R15, and I love my M2, so no problems on that. Ping makes good stuff though, too.

I remember now, it was PXG Golf that I was thinking of earlier.

Parsons Xtreme Golf (PXG) makes the world's finest golf clubs & equipment, engineered for golfers at every level & custom fitted to maximize performance.

I guess I was way off base thinking it started with an H. lol

Looks like colder weather has finally settled into my area, so I don't foresee myself playing again until next year.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Yeah, ours is going to hit pretty hard on Tuesday. I'm sneaking in one last round tomorrow afternoon with my dad, it's going to be a high of 52!

Played pretty well, shot 82, a lot of that thanks to my putting. Had 15 on the front, and 13 on the back.

That was pretty much the last round of the year as it's going to be high of 41 and 31 tomorrow, expected snow!

So I just started playing about a year ago when The Golf Club really got me into the sport. I hack my way around the course most days and if I'm lucky, I can break 100. Since I started I've been using the interlock grip b/c Jack Nicklaus and Tiger used it.

I tend to slice big time, especially with the longer clubs. Just out of pure frustration at the range the other day I went to a ten finger grip. I smashed the ball with more authority than ever before - longer and straighter. I know straighter = longer so maybe I wasn't really getting any more power into the shots but I felt more powerful. I swung the club with a lot less effort and with the new grip I felt so in control of the club and, more importantly, the club face.

My question: does anyone here use the ten finger grip? Anyone switch from one of the conventional grips to the ten finger? The feel was so different from the interlock and better (for me) in every way. Over the past year I've had quite a few "A-HA" moments when I thought I had unlocked a secret to this maddening game. Some have stuck, others have been fool's gold. Just wondering if this is more of the latter.

Back when I was younger I used the ten finger grip because I couldn't fully grip the club with my hands. When I got older I went to the interlock grip and I've been with that ever since.

There's theories out there that certain grips allow you to release the club in different ways but I find I just use what ever is comfortable. When it comes to the grip it's really all down to how you hold the club. If you're holding the club incorrectly, no matter how you grip it (ten finger, overlap, interlock, etc) you'll never be able to set or "hinge" the club properly during the backswing or release the club properly during impact.

Picked up a 3 hybrid and a 4 hybrid from Adams for 30 bucks a piece to complete my set for the time being. Had a bit of a gapping issue between my 3 wood and my 5 hybrid.

                                Now we wait until spring.
