BC serves a function, and that is luring users of the previous platform to upgrade. I the case the XB1, it was also meant to lure 360 users that had moved over to the PS4 to consider coming back. The more 360 titles they have, the easier it is to make that transition.
And going to a generationless model, helps going forward. My take is that Microsoft is setting itself up to take advantage of Sony when they move to the PS5. With Scorpio out this year, they will be positioned to drop a new SKU that not only beats the PS5 specs, but comes in with a game library spanning back to the 360.
For me, I am glad that BC happened. I've played several titles. I'm sure my play time was less than 5% of my total play time, because I mostly play XB1 titles. But there are several that my wife and daughter are super happy about, including old Assasin's Creed games they are still finishing. My wife is a huge Da Blob fan, but we can't play the Wii version anymore. But I was able to get her Da Blob 2 for the 360 to play on the XB1.
It's a value. On the Wii, I probably played mostly Gamecube titles. The low % on the XB1 is mostly due to a pretty damn great game library.
As for resources, I'm pretty damn happy with the dash updates, Sonic Sound, Bluetooth added to controllers, Mixer, Clubs, and just so many improvements to the console. It's ridiculous to claim that the BC has hampered the console in any way. It just doesn't jive with reality.
But Daniel is a console warrior. He's the odd duck that doesn't care who wins, but every ****ing conversation has to be a comparison about who is winning, and how this affects mindshare. He's the one that wants a console comparison thread because he thinks it is so interesting. That got shut down because we all know that far from interesting, it is just an excuse to throw **** at each other.
Daniel just wants to provide the **** for others to fling.
