Re: Xbox One
Curious how many of us XBOX'ers supplement their gaming with a PS4. I bought a PS4 last fall in order to play the Sony exclusives, and it was not a wise investment.
I cannot get the muscle memory of the XBOX button layout (ingrained since 2004) out of my head in order to play the PS4 games. I hesitate practically every time I press a button, having to associate "square" or "triangle" to a location in my head (up, or down, or so on). I was sure enough time practicing would eventually overcome this, but man, it is not. I've kind of gave up on it, and I'm ready to just watch walkthroughs of these game on YouTube.
I'm not sure how people swap back and forth between two consoles. Maybe I'm just old, dumb, and slow... which is fair!Comment

Re: Xbox One
I'll likely return to the PS ecosystem with the PS5. I really only had the bandwidth for one console over the last several years, with my primary gaming device being my PC, and the MS Ecosystem blends into that nicely.

I can understand not liking some games for various reasons or preferring one controller over the other but button layout despite basically being identical is definitely a first for me in regards to hearing/reading it as a complaint so bad that the user can't play the games.Comment

Yeah, I got a Pro for exclusives and picked up the VR. Definitely worth it. I haven’t turned the console on since I beat Spider-Man though.Comment

Re: Xbox One
Curious of community thoughts on visual vs. performance modes on the X.
So I just started getting into Gears 4 via Games Pass with my new X. I feel like visual modes vs. performance modes play with my brain. I can never settle on one, especially in Gears 4.
Back story, I had the X for a few months before upgrading to a 4K OLED, so performance mode on 1080 was my only option. Now that I have a 4K TV, even performance mode looks better on that. Visual mode seems just slightly brighter and more defined, but not by much. I find myself going back and forth, looking for details that don't seem that dramatic.
Am I alone in this?
I mostly stick with performance. but every now and then I will mess around with better graphics. Eventually, I never find the better graphics to be good enough to sacrifice performance. But I kind of hate that this has been introduced to consoles.Last edited by JayhawkerStL; 06-03-2019, 01:58 PM.Comment

My daughter just graduated college, and is home this weekend with a friend. I'm going to send the PS4 with her, as we haven to turned it on in months. She digs Persona5.
I play my XB1X nearly everyday. I absolutely love that running the TV through it has made watching TV late at night with headphones on, with Atmos drink the sound, the best way to watch TV.
I play games, not exclusives. There are more great games than I have time to play on Xbox, and I absolutely love the ecosystem. I don't mind missing exclusives from other platforms anymore than folks on other platforms don't mind missing the Xbox exclusives.Comment

PS4 controller X is where A is on the Xbox controller both X and A perform the same function in the same game so it should be second nature. Square = X . Triangle = Y , Circle = B each one does the same thing on each controller so just think of the PS4 controller as having the letters instead of the symbols. The only real difference is the touch pad on the PS4 controller.

Re: Xbox One
I'm a bit confused by this, I play on both consoles and the button layout is exactly the same. Stop thinking about what is on the button and you will find they all do the same thing on each of the two controllers.

Yeah I am with you, I'm 49 and I go back and forth between the two systems without ever having any issues with remembering the button layouts.
