That's fine and I'm sure we all did research before purchasing our TV's (took me over a year of research), but Sony's are overpriced based on name recognition. Sony's always been that way. That's why I prefer Samsung.....especially DLP's.

Thats exactly what I'm doing....research. It'll probably be next year around this time when I finally pull the trigger. I figure I'll be stuck with this TV for 10+ years so I want it to be a good one."What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, I hate playing against these guys." -Nick SabanComment

If you can hold off a little, CC is gonna have a 46" SHARP LCD for $1,299 on Black Friday. I'm not sure what model # though.http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Sharp...oductDetail.do
That's what I'm looking at... any suggestions?Comment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
I think rainbows are a bit overblown and mostly a problem with the TV settings (ie: too high brightness and contrast). I actually never saw rainbows in the store, but when I first got my DLP home, I saw them all the time in dark scenes and it bothered me. Instead of returning it, I calibrated the TV and the rainbows were gone. It's been 2-3 years now and I never see them anymore. I think I either got adjusted to it or the "torch mode" settings that the TV had when I first set it up were a big part of the problem.
From what I've read, newer DLP's don't have this problem due to a different chip being used.

Tomorrow is my one-year anniversary for my 50" Samsung DLP. I have never had the rainbow issue and I'm still deeply in love with the TV."You make your name in the regular season, and your fame in the postseason." - Clyde Frazier

mjb, did you ever see the rainbow effect whenever there was a white background, like daylight on a show/movie? I can see the red colors on any scenes with white backgrounds at times on my DLP. I don't have the TV too bright as I remember earlier in the year when I bought it you recommended to bring the brightness down so I don't torch the bulb.I think rainbows are a bit overblown and mostly a problem with the TV settings (ie: too high brightness and contrast). Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
50-60 inch for a rear projection. 46-52 inch for a LCD. I'm really leaning towards a LCD, but could buy a rear projection. Does anyone know anything about the Samsung LN-T5265F? The 46 inch version of this set received high marks at C-Net, and the tv is in my price range. Will a Samsung TV perform well with a PS3? Thanks guys for helping this non-tech guy!Last edited by Coach Bryant; 11-12-2007, 02:52 PM."What I would like for every football team to do that we play is to sit there and say, I hate playing against these guys." -Nick SabanComment

Re: HDTV Questions and Answers Thread
No I don't....which is odd because I've read many people see it on white backgrounds. I used to see it when everything was dark in a scene and then there would be a flicker of light (ie: a candle or fire).mjb, did you ever see the rainbow effect whenever there was a white background, like daylight on a show/movie? Yeah keeping the contrast high will eventually wear out the bulb. I still haven't replaced the bulb in my set. I know it's getting low, but until it goes black, no need to replace it! I do have a spare waiting in the wings though.
