That marriage seemed a bit rushed to me, anyway. Not sure why they couldn't just wait it out a bit longer.

yeah, seemed like it was based on 90% lust. I wonder if the Human Target scored with one or more of those guest star babes?

So anyone else thinking the man was Walter? Maybe that's supposed to be obvious, but I see it as the show is trying to be subtle about it.

I'm just trying to figure out the real purpose of this war. What's the real point? Someone has to be pissed off, right? I'm having a hard time shaking the possibility that the alternate Walter is that pissed off guy.

It seems possible. He seems to be the only one that can do the type of things that the other world is using. Everyone else involved seems to say they studied Walter's work.

                Re: Fringe anyone?

I think its has to be "Walternate".

Lot's of clues have been dropped about the other universe being in various forms of peril. Olivia's vision of the the alternate universe where Boston is under quarantine, and lot's of fires are burning out of control.

Newton, the shape-shifter boss, says that much of the natural vegetation, trees, grass, etc, on the other side has been destroyed by a blight.

They may be trying to save their reality by cannibalizing various aspects of "our" universe, or doing something to ensure their survival when the two universes finally smash together. I'm pretty sure we're going to know a whole lot more by the end of this second season.

                  Re: Fringe anyone?

I missed a lot of that info about the alternate universe. I guess I just kinda glossed over it while listening. So thanks for that, jfsolo.

It just seems like a lot of work to do something simple. Why would Walternate (I like this term) need to bring an entire bridge with him? Why would anyone? It seemed like all they needed to bring was a person and car (that's what it looked like). Seems like an easy thing to replace. Or maybe water has a lot to do with it. They did go into a little detail on why doing it near water would be better and we all know how Walter can be (alternate or not).

But if Walter wants his son back then he doesn't have to do all of this craziness. That's what makes me a bit confused. There are simpler methods.

Maybe I'm just a bit lost here and someone knows better than me.

                    Re: Fringe anyone?

Before Walter said the water was needed to absorb the excess energy from the trip. As for why the bridge, the other side doesn't seem to be as knowledgeable on the mechanics as Walter does, seeing as they were using widespread devices and a natural convergence of the universes to break through. They also seem to be hinting that the trip is getting harder (Walter/peter go through without any discernible damage, William Bell barely survives a one way trip, Olivia is altered for just that sort of thing and has troubles, etc).

We can't be sure that Walternate is even after his son, it's possible he doesn't even know what happened to him. The other side likely views all of these happenings as another universe attacking them, just as this side viewed all these fringe incidents. The other side is worse off as well, I'm sure they are viewing a lot of this stuff (the blight, etc) as major attacks, which is why it seems that there is a concerted effort to infiltrate on their end. It's always possible that Walternate discovered his son here, but I doubt that is their only motivation.
