I enjoyed Adventureland on second viewing. First time I triend to watch it thinking it would be similar to Superbad. Was bored and gave up on it. A few months later gave it another chance...ended up liking it. It's more of a Nick and Norah's infinite playlist type movie.

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Yeah, Adventureland definitely grew on me after a few viewings.
I didn't mind it the first time, but it just seemed to be trying to hard to do multiple things. Once I watched it a 2nd time, I understood it...and then the bits and pieces of the movie I've caught on the movie channels this summer have actually been very enjoyable.Comment

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I watched Advertureland over the weekend and was pleasantry surprised. I was surprised that i didn't hate Kirsten Stewart as much as i though i would (even though i barely call what she does as acting) and it had some very funny moments. Ryan Reynolds had a nice role in it as well.
For those that have seen it
Spoilermy wife and I actually cheered when he nailed that annoying friend of his in the sack towards the end. That guy was just SO annoying it felt great to see him get dropped.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. I watched The Man From Earth yesterday. A really really unique and interesting movie. A 90-minute conversation, that's what it is. "An action movie for the mind, not for the eyes", as some people would say.
Highly recommended!My Specs:

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
Frontier Marshal (1939)
Director: Allan Dwan
Major Stars:
Randolph Scott ...... Wyatt Earp
Nancy Kelly ....... Sarah Allen
Cesar Romero ........ John "Doc" Halliday
Binnie Barnes ........ Jerry
Plot Summary
Earp agrees to become marshal and establish order in Tombstone in this very romanticized version of the gunfight at the O.K. Corral
Not a bad movie overall as it's part of the "Gunfight" trilogy of films that tell the story of the famous Gunfight at the O.K. Corral and the friendship between Wyatt Earp and Doc Halliday. The other two being My Darling Clementine (1946) and Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1957). This version is highly romanticized and a bit on the cheaper side even for the time but I found it to be quite charming. Scott and Romero do well in their parts though I found Scott to be doing his usual thing which was basically playing characters in one particular style. He never did have much range but what he had was enjoyable enough. Romero on the other hand was quite good as Halliday and brought some good emotion to his part especially when it came to the situation with his old flame Sarah and his current fling Jerry.
The romantic tension was played pretty well and I have to say Nancy Kelly who i'm not familiar with gave a very natural performance especially in the scene where Scott goes to her room and tells her to stay in Tombstone because even though it looks like Halliday is more involved with Jerry he's really in love with her. It's quite a good little scene.
Anyways, as to the romanticism of the movie towards the end Doc who's been shot up and only has one good arm does a life saving operation for the bartender's little boy and then gets killed immediately after with Earp going it alone at the OK Corral. Nonetheless as inaccurate as it may be it's still quite a good flick.
I give it a solid 2 1/2 stars.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: What movies have you seen recently? Part 1
I might have to give Adventureland a rewatch. I had mixed feelings about it when I saw it the first time. I wasn't sure if I liked it, to rip a phrase from some TV show (I don't remember which), I nothing it. I have no strong feelings one way or the other.
But after reading that it might actually get better the 2nd time around, a trip to the video store might be in order.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Thoughts on GreenZone with Matt Damon?
Saw it tonight. Nothing special really. Apparently it bombed. I didn't find it particularly bad but nothing amazing.
Budget was quite high for this movie tho IIRC.Comment

Finally saw crash last night. Pretty solid movie although a bit dark.Originally posted by Anthony BourdainThe celebrity chef culture is a remarkable and admittedly annoying phenomenon.
