Now Jay might leave NBC too. If Jimmy Fallon gets the Tonight Show then NBC might as well just concede and run infomercials from 11:35 until the Today show starts.

Now Jay might leave NBC too. If Jimmy Fallon gets the Tonight Show then NBC might as well just concede and run infomercials from 11:35 until the Today show starts. As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!" -
Re: Conan's Reign Begins - The Tonight Show
Conan needs to go to Fox. He'll have full reign over his show and Fox allows more things to pass through censorship... he can have a field day with it.Comment

Re: Conan's Reign Begins - The Tonight Show
Thats not true. His contract states that if he is moved from 11:35, Conan can terminate the contract and as a penalty NBC has to pay him for the next 4 yrs. If NBC had the right to move him to 12:05, they would just move him and dare him to breach the contract (which Conan wouldnt do because that means he would get sued and wouldnt be able to work for 4 yrs).It is the same way they lost Letterman, who has since lost to Leno in ratings for years. Not so much a screwup there.
Yes he signed a contract, but the contract allows them to move him to 12:05. So if he declines that, he will break the contract, not NBC, so he will not got paid.
This is why they were negotiating with Conan, hoping that he would be willing to move back to 12:05 for more money.Comment

Where did you hear that at exactly? Ive read numerous websites that report that there was a clause that allowed them to move it back 30 minutes but no later and suddenly youre talking as if youve got some inside info or something that all these other news outlets dont have.Thats not true. Letterman did pretty well the first year or two after going to CBS and this year he's having very good ratings. It is the same way they lost Letterman, who has since lost to Leno in ratings for years. Not so much a screwup there.

If that happens then Johnny and Ed are rolling in their graves right now.http://www.popeater.com/2010/01/13/j...o-leaving-nbc/

Re: Conan's Reign Begins - The Tonight Show
Ive read it on Variety and one other site maybe the Hollywood Reporter. Even without reading that the other explanation doesnt even make sense. Conan has a contract for 4 more years. If NBC is permitted to move him back a half hour....this wouldnt even be a discussion. Conan wouldnt even have another network as an option because if he breached his contract he wouldnt be able to work for another network for the length of his contract (or at least 1-2 yrs of the contract).Where did you hear that at exactly? Ive read numerous websites that report that there was a clause that allowed them to move it back 30 minutes but no later and suddenly youre talking as if youve got some inside info or something that all these other news outlets dont have.
The NY Times is reporting that NBC doesnt believe its breached its contract by moving him but Conan's people do.Comment

Re: Conan's Reign Begins - The Tonight Show
I agree with the previously mentioned 11pm spot on Fox. Conan on Fox would kill. NBC pulls the reigns back on him too much for his style of comedy.
Here are some quotes in regards to Fox and Conan.
Local news, sports, business, politics, entertainment, travel, restaurants and opinion for Seattle and the Pacific Northwest.
The late-night shuffle has played out amid speculation that O'Brien might bolt for Fox. And the network's top entertainment executive, Kevin Reilly, said on Monday, "I love Conan personally and professionally."Fox declined comment Tuesday on O'Brien's statement, but it is taking action that would indicate the network is seriously considering bringing O'Brien to late-night, a period now largely filled by a variety of syndicated fare that includes network reruns.
Fox is asking some of its stations to study and report back on how much money is made with current late-night programming, according to a person familiar with the request. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the person was not authorized to publicly discuss the request.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Conan's Reign Begins - The Tonight Show
Is this Conan new?I don't like the Yankees, I like the Red Sox, I don't like the Lakers, I like the Celtics, I hate the Canadiens and I love the Bruins. Soccer is the best sport on Earth, but most Americans are too ignorant to realize it. I am American.
